Oak Hill Cabins

Nice proprietor, but the property is not maintained, run down, and dirty. The picture must be from 20 years ago as it is very overgrown. Now the wood actually looks black with mold. I asked Bill (the proprietor) about the picture and how overgrown it is now. He said «we’re trying to get it back to its natural state». What a laugh.
Avoid it.

I’m giving this place NO STARS !! It’s making me give at least 1 star.
1800’s refurbished cabin…
We stayed here in another cabin, 10 years ago and let me say since then it’s went down hill! It’s overgrown and you can tell they don’t take care of it anymore.
The pics look great, but don’t be deceived! It doesn’t show you how dirty and smelly the cabin is. Upon entering, the overwhelming smell of moth balls is the first thing you will notice. We went in and noticed how the couch looked like it came from the dump. Very worn out and torn up. There are 2 window air conditioners in the living room, because 1 is in unworking condition. This says to me, that they are to lazy to take the old one out. They say they have 2 fireplaces, and they do. What they don’t tell you, is that they aren’t vented through a chimney. The ceiling in the living room is black from soot! Yes, they are converted to gas, but they still need vented. The kitchen and bathroom were filthy! We had to clean toothpaste out of the bathroom sink, hair from toilet, hair from shelves, the shower was gross. We had to clean the kitchen sink, table, and stove.
We used all the cleaner they had! That was just surface cleaning, you should have seen the inside of the fridge! Yikes! The deck is beautiful, but you can’t enjoy it because of all the cob webs and spiders. The outside chairs were black with dirt and unusable. Who wants to sit on dirty chairs. For a discounted rate of $ 125 a night I expect it to be clean! I called the owner and told him the condition and he said someone must have used it after they cleaned it at 2 pm. Yeah right! That was nasty that you can tell had been there for awhile! That’s when I also found out that the Bed and Breakfast was not even in operation. He did offer me my money back, but I told him we would try and stay. I mean we did just clean it. I told him he was out of cleaning supplies too. He said he would restock. We went to try and go to bed, but I just could stay there! We left 15 min after we got into bed and stayed at a hotel. We called the owner in the morning and told him we had left that night and mind you left it cleaner than it was! He had the nerve to say that since we had «slept» in the bed then he was only refunding 1 night! Really!!! None of us slept there!!! We tried, but I can’t sleep in filth and moth balls!
Beware!!! Don’t stay here!!! It’s a dump!!!
