I went to the frame center, when I was looking to get a custom frame done for a friends Birthday gift. I cant remember the guy who helped me, but he had glasses.(I will update this when I get his name. Anyway he was very professional and knowledgeable. He went through all the different frame types, materials, and prices.
Obviously a place like this is going to be more expensive than going to your local crafts store. The service and turn around time was great. The frame came out better than expected and has not had any problems what so ever.
If you are looking to get a frame made and you want quality that you know will last and can trust. Check out the frame center in Smithtown!
