I really enjoyed this place on this my first visit. When you walk in you get a feeling of openness. There is a lot of contrast between the shinny corrugated metal panels and the front windows on the bright side to the browns, greys, and deep blacks of the dining area. But I did not come here for the décor. Several people have told me about this place so I decided to give it a try. Going north to Smithville I arrived around 11:30 and was promptly seated. As you can see by the picture they brought me a very tasty colorful Bourbon Blue Burger with onion rings. Biting into the burger gave me a variety of flavors and textures. I will be back.

We found this secret gem just off highway 169 in Smithville. We arrived early on New Year’s Eve to ensure a short wait. The restaurant, I understand, has recently expanded and they will need this space as more people find out about it. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The menu was full of surprises, making my selection difficult. We had the special of the day appetizer, Buffalo chicken egg roll which was excellent. My wife loved the Southwest Chicken Wrapper and I ordered the fish and chips. The meal came with a small cast iron skillet of sweet cornbread. The Kung Fu Girl Riesling was also a great compliment to dinner. We will be coming back soon to explore more of the menu! I highly recommend this restaurant!

We were very impressed with the food! My wife had the salmon with polenta and asparagus. It was prepared perfectly. I had the fish and chips with their homemade Cole slaw and outstanding fries which were crispy on the outside. For dessert we shared the featured snickers pie. This is a very nice place with friendly folks and wait staff. Our server Brook was outstanding and very informative about all their offerings.

Stopped by this place yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised overall. It’s in an old strip mall next to a Ford dealership and looks quite underwhelming from the outside. Inside, however, it’s got a quite tastefully decorated and has a very pleasant atmosphere. Anyway, I started out with the pulled pork nachos. I am usually not a fan of slaw but it wasn’t bad mixed in with the pulled pork. What was interesting about them is that instead of using standard corn tortilla chips they used a wonton style chips which were fresh, crispy, and tasty. The portion size was sizable and more than enough for the money. For the main course I ordered the sirloin steak and salad. That also comes with fresh made cornbread. The cornbread was good. The salad was fresh but not really much of a salad. Portion wise it was plenty big enough but it would have been nice if it had something in it besides lettuce and tomato. The steak… Well… Flavorful and cooked exactly how I asked for it but a little bit more on the tough side than I would have liked. I had to do some work cutting it. For dessert I had the butter cake which was decadent and just outstanding. It came with some fantastic ice cream as well. Down from me were some other customers that ordered the rib special for like 20 bucks and it was ludicrously big. Similar to the brontosaurus ribs that tipped over Fred’s car. Looked very appetizing and was smoked that day according to the server. My service was good and the prices were fair so overall I would say it’s a worthwhile place to eat. The beer and wine selections were enough to probably please just about anyone. There were several other interesting items on the menu I’d like to check out so I’m sure I’ll be back sometime.

Have been to Kozak’s half a dozen times since moving to Smithville at the beginning of the summer. I have never been disappointed. I have never had anything but their assortment of gourmet burgers and I am not sad about it. I have tried everything from the salmon to turkey to regular beef burgers and have loved them all. One of these days I will have to try a real entrée but for now I am extremely pleased with the food.

Hanging with neighbors and they are regulars. We had an awesome bourbon blue burger, love the turkey burger, you get a lot of steak on the steak salad.

Tried it out for the first time and had the tex mex burger with fries. The burger and fries were great plus there was an added bonus… The sliced pickles that come with it were amazing!

Met up with friends here as this would be a central location.(We originally had plans for another restaurant but found it was closed for business.) Service was good, food was okay, prices were good. Others in my party ordered burgers and fries. They said they were pretty good. I ordered the baked rotisserie chicken. The waitress said«they only had one left» and I should have taken that as a sign that it was precooked and sitting in a warming bin. That’s pretty much what it tasted like.(Don’t expect a Houston’s rotisserie chicken.) Moral of the story: Go here for burgers and fries. Pass on anything that will take time to prepare.

When Kozaks’ first open we tried and were very pleased with the service and attention to detail with food. BUT we brought family with us on our visit Wednesday 1⁄28 and the fries were just about cold; our food came AFTER the couple in the booth behind us, then my husband ordered a turkey burger and there was the strangest piece of material we didn’t know what it was. We asked the server over to our table and she took to the owner. Who came over to our table and smiled«we have paper that separates our cheese.» So sorry! She comp my husband meal and on the bill it said«customer didn’t like.» Well I think this is an insult, it should of all be complimentary and not customer didn’t like. We won’t be back as handling is slipping in the food preparation. I guess they are getting clumsy? Signed Our Last Visit

We live in the northland near 169 Hwy and 435. We tried out this place and we were pleasantly surprised. The place was full(which is a good sign) so we ate in the bar area. We had burgers and they very good. We decided we will definitely add this to our rotation and be back. I hope that this place becomes a mainstay in Smithville.

Our food was an hour-plus late in getting to our table(and it was one of the dinner specials) but tasted very fresh and they gave us a complimentary salad and dessert for the wait. If you like screens at every viewing angle, they have you covered. To me, it is just a distraction from what might otherwise be a nice meal with friends. The menu is priced like a nicer, upscale restaurant but it feels a little«sports bar-ish» for my taste.

I travel a great deal and always try to avoid chains. I was in town with some clients from Maine and Nashville and on our way back to KC we decided to try KoZaks. The staff was great, friendly and efficient. We all ordered drinks and their Moscow Mule is one of the best I’ve had! We started with the Korean BBQ Pork Nachos and(recommendation from the owner) the fried pickled green tomatoes. Both were excellent. I can easily see why the nachos one an award. The balance of sweet and spicy was perfect. I love fried pickles but now will always wish for fried green tomatoes. They were spectacular. I had their sirloin which was cooked perfectly(medium rare). The season was excellent. Someone in our party tried the pork chop. He raves all the next day. Great food, affordable prices, and fantastic staff. We’ll be returning next time we’re in KC.

I have SO much time and territory to choose from for lunches and dinners and other than one place at Pomme this is my favorite place to eat! I also love to take people who haven’t been just to see their reactions. The food is fresh and this family owned restaurant uses meat from Paradise Meat Locker. It is rare you actually know where your meat comes from, and where that place gets their meat. They use seasonal vegetables and have daily specials that I always try because they are always so different from anything I’ve had anywhere. They use seasons and spices that are very complimentary to the foods they are paired with. The prices are average $ 9 – 12(Some dinner entrees will cost more) and the portions are plenty. In addition to specials I’ve tried the taco salad, Mediterranean salmon salad, California turkey burger(I LOVED it and wasn’t expecting to honestly-flavorful!), applewood bbq pulled park sandwich on jalapeño corn bread, salmon burger, steak soup, a flatbread specialty pizza, all so different and all very good! Really love the sweet potato fries but my favorite is fried green beans. Trust me. I had them as a side on a special and have craved them ever since. When I told the waitress, she quickly let me know I can always have them as an appetizer even though their not on the menu. I was a happy girl! They only thing that might beat out those is the Crème Brulee when I’m not so full to try it. Where else can you get that in the northland? The wait and bar staff are always friendly and make no mistakes. One of their waitresses was listed in the top 5 in Pitch voter survey. A gentleman waiting on our table one day made a specialty bloody Mary that was the best they’ve ever had and this person travels around the US for work. Diners are aged from young to elder and they are family friendly. Its not a large restaurant and its almost always full at lunch and dinner. The design and décor are modern, appealing and comfortable. Having said that– I may have went down .05 star just because in the winter you will need to dress warm, some people let in too much cold air when they stroll in. The door opens right into the restaurant, they need a glass foyer. Its on 169 just north of 92 hwy on the west side next to Ford dealer. Try it! You will like it!

Although 4⁄6 of the reviews are obviously fake we decided to give Kozak’s a try. The restaurant was packed and right away we could tell that it was understaffed as we ended up having long wait periods. It looked like they only had the hostess and one other server taking care of all of the tables and at times the bartender jumped in to assist. We tried the pulled pork sandwich, turkey burger, and kids mac & cheese. All were served hot and seasoned well but nothing too exciting. The sweet potato and regular fries were hot and crispy which was a plus. The bartender went out of the way to ensure our specialty drink orders were made to our liking which was awesome. This establishment has potential, I would give it 3.5 stars if I could — once service is fixed and they tweak the menu it will be well worth visiting.

My favorite dish is the California turkey burger with sweet potato fries. The food is amazing, and it is cheap like Applebee’s. The service is great, and the atmosphere is relaxed. I give them five stars for food, service, atmosphere and prices.
