Nellie’s Sweet Shoppe

My favorite ice cream and candy shop, my kids just love coming in here for a cone or some fudge. If you live anywhere near Smithville you owe it to yourself to visit.

Our family LOVES Nellie’s Sweet Shoppe. It is a wonderful place to bring our grandchildren. And it is a great community gathering place where one can enjoy fantastic fudge made by the fudgemaster as well as enjoying ice cream, sweet treats, sodas, etc. It is a great deal of fun and down home pleasure. It is family owned by residents of Smithville which adds to the pleasure. Stop by when you are in town!

Nellie’s has the most wonderful selection of fudge you could possibly imagine and their toffee is to die for. The owners are gracious and kind. They ship their goods to anyplace in the country. Their candies make great gifts and you can sample what you send before you ship. Their ice cream and lunch is very satisfying as well. I love this place but my waistline makes my visits infrequent.

I miss the small candy shops of my youth. Glass candy jars filled with glossy chocolate; my palms filled with sweaty coins, anticipating sweet satisfaction. When you’re a child, chocolate is the object of your desire. As you get older, desire gets much more complicated. Still there, but now there’s so much guilt. If you want to go back to a time when there is no guilt, just pure unadulterated pleasure, might I suggest Nellie’s Sweet Shoppe. These people still get goosebumps about candy, just like you do. There’s no guilt here. Just a romping good time. Ice cream, homemade fudge (a new spotlighted flavor each month), hard crack candy, and yes, glass jars of glossy chocolate. However you choose to let your inner child act out, the results will be finger licking, lip smacking good!
