AT&T Go-plan I wanted to improve my cellphone range and decided to first research prices. I had talked extensively with an AT&T representative over the phone who told me that since I was currently with Cricket and that AT&T owned Cricket, the switch-over would be easy and that porting my number to AT&T would not be a problem.¬ I also had an unlocked AT&T cellphone. I told the representative that I wanted to stay on a month to month, no contract plan and I was assured porting my number over to AT&T would not be an issue under any of their plans. Since I reside in Smyrna, Tennessee I decided to go to the Smyrna branch to switch to AT&T. The Smyrna branch representatives indicated to me that porting my number would not be possible, NOT unless I switched over to a contract with AT&T or if I purchased a new phone. I told the woman who greeted me what I was told over the phone when she stated that the rep that I had spoken to was outright lying to me. I asked the young lady if I could speak with her supervisor, she said that she will be right back. I watched as she approached a gentleman behind the counter and together they conversed prior to helping me. After about 5 minutes they both walked up to me to tag team me as the gentleman assured me the information that the female representative gave me was accurate and in order for them to port my number over from Cricket to AT&T, I would have to purchase a contract with AT&T or buy a new phone and that those were my only available options in order to keep my current phone number. I thanked them for their time and left the AT&T Smyrna branch. When I got home I explained to my fiancé the fiasco which I just experienced with AT&T Smyrna. We then proceeded to call various AT&T branches throughout Middle Tennessee. I did not tell them about my previous experience at the Smyrna branch, I simply asked if my number could be ported over from Cricket to AT&T on a month to month basis. I had called a total of 7 different AT&T stores and every person I spoke with each assured me that yes, my number could be ported over from Cricket to AT&T on a month to month plan. The following day I called AT&T Smyrna branch and asked to speak with a supervisor. I had not told the supervisor of my experience at his store the previous evening until first asking him if my number could be ported over from Cricket to AT&T on a no contract plan. The Supervisor assured me that AT&T Smyrna could do it and if I wanted to bring in my phone any of the store reps would be able to do the switch-over. It was then that I told the AT&T supervisor about my previous evening’s experience at his store. The supervisor asked me if he could place me on a brief hold because he(the Supervisor) needed to talk to(his) boss. After about a 4 to 6 minute wait the supervisor apologized to me for the wait and said that his employees had given me accurate information and that he looked at his computer on the(AT&T) KB website to see about my inquiry and that he was sorry for his initial mistake. I felt something was a bit strange so the following weekend I went to AT&T Murfreesboro branch located at 115 Mall Circle Drive. AT&T, Mall Circle Drive, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37129 Upon entering the AT&T Murfreesboro branch I was greeted by a gentleman named Charles. Not telling Charles about my experience with the Smyrna branch I asked if he could port my number over from Cricket to AT&T on a no contract plan. Charles said that it would not be a problem at all. After about a 15 to 20 minute protocol set up my cellphone was activated with AT&T and I retained my original number on the month to month plan that the Smyrna branch AT&T assured me was not possible to do. It was then that I explained to Charles about my experience at the AT&T Smyrna branch. Charles was the kind of person I will recommend to anyone who may be interested in phone service with AT&T and I will recommend they bypass the Smyrna branch all together as the incompetence of its employees all the way up to the supervisor level is based on lies to try to get you to purchase a more expensive plan or phone from their branch. A few days later I bought a new phone. I work in Nashville and I drove right past the AT&T Smyrna branch, went out of my way to go back to the same AT&T branch in Murfreesboro. This time Charles was not there but one of his store employees, Alexis(Alex) was and she was equally as pleasant and as competent as Charles. From now on I will continue taking the extra time to drive out of my way to the AT&T branch in Murfreesboro because dealing with honest people like Charles and Alex is very much worth the drive as opposed to dealing with the dishonesty of the staff that I spoke with at the AT&T Smyrna branch. Unfortunately, Unilocal offers a 5 star rating so rather than allowing me to select a negative 5 star which the Smyrna branch is worthy of, I feel that I must give them undue credit with a ONE star rating.

Been a customer of AT&T for years. Customer service over the phone is ALWAYS excellent. Staff at this store could take some pointers from them. I got the feeling my business wasn’t welcomed with the sales guy tapping his fingers on the table and looking around the store as if there was something better he would rather be doing. Received better service driving all the way to Murfreesboro.
