Auto Cool

Recently my AC went out again. Took it back up there and was out the door in under 40 mins. A relay went out, cost $ 50 to replace, no fuss at all. Last time was not a fluke, these guys are legit. If you have AC or Heat issues take it straight there. I can’t promise that the cost will always be cheap, but I can guarantee these guys give you the straight up truth and the most cost effective solution out there.

In 2014, my 1993 Camry air conditioning went out. I figured it would be pretty expensive, especially if the compressor was shot. They checked it out and found leaks in the system. They also found that the compressor was still working. I was almost right – the estimate was about $ 1,000, but reasonable. I decided to fix it. They replaced the evaporator, a couple of valves, and dryer. They also converted it to R134. It worked great. All in all, I figure the car’s life was extended indefinitely. It’s one of the best cars ever made, my opinion. If I need AC work again I will be back.

I withheld my review for two years because I wanted to ensure that my repair was done correctly and holds up to the test of time. My long-​time mechanic stated that I need an entirely new air conditioner and quoted me over $ 2000. Autocool replaced the system for approximately $ 1200– and it blows ice cold today, just as it did when the repair was made. I appreciate auto shops who do thorough diagnostic assessments prior to quoting a repair, can clearly articulate needs/​costs, and deliver quality repairs as agreed.

Took my 73 corvette in to evaluate some inconsistency issues with the AC and problematic high air flow. Brad was able to get it in the shop and checked out within an hour. He was able to fully explain the issues and diagnose the problem, which was a huge relief to me considering the age of the car and the different modifications made over the years. The repairs were done quite quickly and certainly cheaper than I expected to have to pay for all the work done and my peace of mind. Any AC/​Heater work I need done in the future on any of my cars will be back at Auto Cool.

I brought my car into Auto Cool yesterday because my air conditioner was blowing hot air– if you live in Atlanta in August, you know that this is NOT the kind of situation that you want to be in. The guys behind the counter helped me out right away, and called me to ask if it was okay to run diagnostics within the hour. About 30 minutes after the first call, they let me know what the problem was, and have me a price estimate. They actually were upfront and asked for permission to make the repair, and asked if the price was okay with me. I called my former mechanic down in Florida, who told me that the price that they had quoted me was actually very good, so I decided to go ahead and let them make the repairs. They had it done quickly, and I have got to say that their customer service was excellent! They were friendly, which is unusual in a big city. I will definitely be back in the future if needed and would recommend them to anyone looking for fast A/​C repair at a good price.

An update to my previous post… My cold air only lasted about 2 weeks, so it was obvious that my compressor was going to have to be replaced. Knowing it would be an all-​day job, I dropped off my car in the evening, using the key drop slot. I noted on the key envelope to do the compressor replacement and also a timing belt replacement that had been recommended in my prior visit as well.
I got a call the following morning and they recommended the timing belt tension spring be replaced also (probably the source of the loose belt & squealing sound). I agreed to have that done as well. They called again around 4pm to let me know my car was ready to go.
Due to the extra timing belt work I had done in addition to the compressor replacement, I was expecting to get hit with a pretty big bill. Remarkably, the bill was lower than I was expecting and still a good $ 500 or more cheaper than the previous place quoted me for a compressor only.
I would recommend Auto Cool to anyone who needs this type of work done on their vehicle. This was the best auto repair experience I have had in at least 10 years or more.

Great service — quick turn around — professional installation. Evaporator core replacement on a Jeep Grand Cherokee was $ 600 cheaper than the quote I received from the dealership. I highly recommend these guys.

What is it these days with businesses thinking that you don’t have other choices anymore? WE DO! I guess they are also unaware that spreading the word now travels MUCH further. I dunno. but I Unilocal A LOT and LOUDLY, especially when I’m treated poorly.
I should have listened to my gut instinct when I called Auto Cool to try scheduling an appointment to get my AC checked. The person who answered the phone was not very friendly, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. maybe this guy is just having a bad day. Decided to take my car in yesterday to have them do their «visual inspection» which the guy «Brad» did and said he didn’t see anything wrong with my AC. Remember this name «Brad» as you’ll see later. I tried explaining that I know my A/​C and it’s not even close to cooling as it should. He recommended that I bring it back maybe later in the day, so he could take a look then because heat can change the verdict. Anyway, agreed that I might do that but I didn’t get around to doing it. However, I drove my car around in the heat and it still wasn’t cooling properly.
I decided to go back today and when I arrived at the front desk there was this «Brad» character again. He is the white/​gray haired older man in the office.
I greet him with «Hello, I’m back again today.» (Smiling)
«Back, that means nothing to me.» (Eyes never looked at me)
«I was just here yesterday morning. My name is R*****»
Interrupting me mid-​sentence «What is your last name» (Still hasn’t looked at me)
I spelled out my last name «M — — »
“Ok, you were here yesterday and I told you your car was working fine” (Still hasn’t looked at me)
«OK, I’m telling you it’s not working fine, especially during the heat of the day»
«It was blowing cold yesterday» (Still hasn’t looked at me)
«Listen, it’s not working as it should. Can you repair it? What is your schedule looking like today to service it?»
«I don’t know. I can’t give you a clue. You can leave it here? (Still no eye contact)
«No, I don’t think I’ll be leaving my car with you EVER»
«OK, that’s fine with me.»
I wish I could add audio so everyone can get the full experience of how brash this «Brad» character is. Talking about lack of professionalism and you’ve been in business how long? He has a terrible disposition. After hearing the voice in person «Brad» was the person who answered the phone when I tried to call initially to schedule an appointment. I should have taken heed.
I notice that Auto Cool likes to chime in and rebuttal negative reviews. Do yourselves a favor and save your keystrokes. There isn’t an excuse for «Brad’s» behavior and nothing can justify the rudeness that I experienced. After reviewing their website, Brad is a partner in the business. If the owner Fred wants continued business, I’d highly recommend an immediate change in partners unless he shares the same principles as Brad.
I will be letting EVERYONE I know and hopefully I can reach people I don’t know to avoid this location like the plague. The vibe I experienced was some backwards/​sideways thinking in this establishment. I am happy to take my money elsewhere because I don’t have to put up with BS! I had already made an appointment to take my car right across the street to Motorsports International, but I was trying to see if I could get my car serviced sooner than my appointment. I know I can rely on professionalism and gratitude there. Check out my previous review of Motorsports International.

In response to the owner’s comment, you only get one chance to make a first impression. As I stated previously, my initial correspondence with Auto Cool wasn’t pleasant and I did factor in someone possibly having a «bad day». However, it seems that «bad days» are a normal occurrence here. Whatever the case may be, if you’re running a business you should try to exhibit some self-​control and it doesn’t excuse your behavior. If this were a genuine apology, why not pick up the phone and call me directly because you have my contact info. That’s how you turn a bad situation around. Also, I never indicated that I wanted a quick solution. Take time to listen to your customers and don’t make assumptions. We all know what assumptions can make you look like. I simply wanted to be given an approximate time frame so that I could determine if I would wait for service or drop off my car. Also, I never stated that Auto Cool charged me for services. Please just stick to the facts.

Ok SO, … took in my 92 GMC Sonoma for a retro-​fitting, got a quote-​estimate, dropped it off Sat AM at 7 sharp as requested.
Within an hour, recieved an update call, most everything went well except the compressor was leaking. I kinda figured with the age of the truck and all, there would be some sort of snafu and its cool though… I mostly appreciated the upfront honesty.
Brad and Fred run the show at Auto Cool, and even though the quote for total repair was outta my budget range, they were «cool» (pun intended) about the whole thing.
I read almost all of the review posted on Unilocal,some good some not so much as most reviews go, but for my experience I couldn’t find any lack of respect or kindness in gestures from Auto Cool. I did not feel ripped off or any such experience and I know to each his or her own?
I have a fairly cut and dry to the point personality especially during business transactions and these guys were upfront as it gets, I feel reputable (as I checked with several male friends on their rep also). Even though I did not complete the job with them, I got a partial fix, but I am pleased with both the follow up and end result.
The shop is very organized, neat and clean. Ladies, (and gents) I recommend gettin your whip over there if you are having trouble this season with your a/​c! Do it before the «heatwave» arrives in GA. because Auto Cool’s biggest business season is probably summer and right not they are not slammed. If ever needed, I would go back, but since I too work in the Auto industry I was able to keep my costs down for such an older model and have the repair completed…

DONT GO TO THIS SHOP!!! Unless you dont know nothing about cars and you want to get your pockets emptied! They have the «best reputable shop» around but the service is horrible. I took my car to the shop today (20/​03/​2014) to put freon in the a/​c system and they did the vacuum and filling. They told me that there was something wrong with wiring and that they didn’t have the wiring diagram. They let me go like that after charging me $ 125.00.
I called them an hour later and asked them how much will they charge me to change a switch sensor that is on top of the dryer and re-​cycle the freon that they put in an hour ago… They said that they wanted to charge $ 117.00 more!!! What ???
Bravo!!! What a great service and knowledge!!!

I was able to get my car fixed on the same day, they even came to find me at Rev when I didn’t answer my phone. :)

Horrible experience. My AC was blowing, but not cold. Brought my car in, they replaced the fuse box, picked car up a couple days later. The next morning on my way to work, the ac stops working completely. Not blowing at all and the knob kept getting stuck. Never had this problem BEFORE I took my car to Auto cool. We bring it back the next day, and they tell me this is a new, completely unrelated problem AND they want $ 400 more to fix it. They took no responsibility for the situations at all. I can understand if it WAS completely unrelated issue, but the knob not working, after 14 years of working perfectly fine, seems Quite related to whatever they did to my car. I highly suggest avoiding this place.

After suffering through the diagnostic incompetence ($ 162 A/​C recharge service) and attempted rip-​offs ($ 650 quote for condenser/​drier in Jacksonville, Fl and again in Conyers) after my a/​c went on the lamb on a family vacation this summer at a business whose name rhymes with step toys, I decided to stop bleeding my bank account and take it to Auto Cool. Fred (the CSM) listened patiently as I explained the situation and had a technician complete a preliminary diagnostic right there on the spot. Everyone had a pleasant attitude and worked as a team. It is obvious that their decision to specialize in a/​c repair has resulted in higher efficiency and fair pricing. My 2010 Equinox is now blowing cold air at a repair price ¹⁄₃ less than the competition. Although I had to drive an hour each way from Conyers twice for two days straight, I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again the next time I have an a/​c need. Thanks guys!

I went here because they are right around the corner from where I live and also next to Rev Coffee. It wasn’t fast, but the service was great… it wasn’t cheap, but they didn’t overcharge either. All they do is AC and I’m assuming heat as well. They have been in business a long time and I believe they will continue that way. I would definitely come back in the future. AC is blowing so cold I can barely keep it on!!!

No complaints yet. The AC blows so cold now. They did not try ripping me off. I had done some research before I brought it in. I kept it to myself and they laid everything out for me. Very honest and straight forward. I will come back when my A/​C takes a dump in the future. They replaced a filter in my cabin that the dealer was going to charge over $ 100 for for a fraction of the cost. My experience was good. These guys know what they are doing and there is a nice coffee shop next door if you get bored.

I was directed to Auto Cool by my trusted mechanic of over 20 years, Dalton Automotive, who only refers his clients to Auto Cool for repairs. I have taken two different vehicles to Auto Cool for repairs in the last couple of years and only had pleasant experiences with them. One of the repairs required replacing the compressor and a control which Auto Cool replaced for ¹⁄₃ less than the two other estimates I had from other large chain service centers.
The staff at Auto Cool has always been pleasant to me and my wife, did what they say they would do and had the car ready when promised. I don’t know what kind of issues the 1 star reviews have had but they do not sound consistent with my experiences nor my mechanic who trusts his customers to them.
I have and would continue to recommend Auto Cool to anyone that wants quality AC work.

I have been to AutoCool twice and had a good experience both times. The first was in December of 2010 because my defroster was not working. It was ascertained that the issue was blower motor. While being serviced, they also checked another problem I wasn’t sure about (was NOT an issue) and determined that my Temperature Door Actuator was failing. The manager explained the issue to me in understandable terms and even took the time to show it to me. At NO TIME did they they try to hard sell me on receiving this service that day. In fact, they told me that I was fine unless it became a problem later. They provided me with a written estimate as well as a detailed description of the service I received.
Nearly two years later, I am back to get this service taken care of. The part held out until earlier this week and naturally I wanted to come back to them for service. I brought my car in, they determined that it was indeed the part in question, and took care of me. Yes, the cost was higher than the original estimate. But that was from 2010. Come on! It’d be crazy to expect it to be the same price!
I have since referred friends to this business and all have told me that they were satisfied with their service and experience. In addition to friendly service, they are always fast. I have NEVER waited as long as I expect to. However, it’s not a problem because Rev Coffee is next door and a great place to wait (Need to review them next).

the fiancé took his SUV in to get the A/​C fixed. We suggested what we thought was wrong with the A/​C and the guy got an attitude. Turns out after all the arguing and back-​and-​forth… the problem really was what we had originally thought.
Worst thing… not even a month (and over $ 200) later, the A/​C is out again. I guess this is one way of getting repeat business. Pretty shady practice in my opinion.
Take your car elsewhere.

Auto Cool was recommended to me by a friend. I wanted to try and fix my AC myself, however I gave in to taking my car to a professional. They had my car checked within 15 minutes and gave a diagnosis for a small fee. So I could repair it myself or let these guys do it. The repair was all labor and I elected to let them do it. They applied the diagnosis fee toward the price which I felt was fair. I had my car out in about three hours. They also found other minor problems that they fixed including a broken vent arm. They could have sold me new parts, however they glued the existing part back together.
