Terrible delivery experience. We ordered a hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, chicken with eggplant in supposedly spicy garlic sauce, and beef with broccoli. We ordered at 8pm and were told they’d deliver by 8:45pm. Three phone calls later, the food finally got here at 9:30pm. Absolutely unacceptable, especially since we kept being told lies as to how much longer it would take. Now to the food… the egg drop soup and the beef were just okay; the eggplant chicken was not spicy but sweet — it actually tasted good anyway, so that was fine, but it was not as described. The worst part was the hot and sour soup though, it was inedible! It was neither hot nor sour, but instead tasted like pure oil. Disgusting. Definitely will not be repeat customers and cannot recommend this place to anyone.

The food is always fresh and great! Asked for real curry chicken and they delivered! The owner is always friendly and helpful and plenty of food!

This has become my new favorite lunch spot. Great prices! They are super nice and great customer service. Everything I’ve tried so far has been good. Only thing I don’t care for are the egg rolls… rubbery and no flavor…

Ordered a simple delivery at 5:11pm on a Monday. Was told to expect the delivery around 5:56. Sat here trying to keep my 5-year old from gnawing his arm off… finally arrived at 6:31pm. I’m a 10 minute drive from the restaurant. Very disappointed. It shouldn’t take that long to make mediocre americanized chinese food.

Been 2 hours and still waiting on the food. At this point I’m not even hungry anymore and couldn’t care less about how good the food is or isn’t…

We ordered for delivery for the very first time from this restaurant and it took an hour for the food to come. Most of the food was cold by the time it got to us We ordered: Sizzling rice soup for two — it was pretty decent(no complaint there) Mongolian beef — tasted the worse — it was bland and the meat was terrible, never tasted a sweet Mongolian beef dish before The house special lomein — was okay — just edible The spicy chicken with garlic sauce — was just okay — nothing more to it The steam dumpling — very typical and nothing good to brave about Overall– I would only give this restaurant another try if I’m really really really hungry — I’ve tasted much better Chinese food — this one is not it!

Thought I would give this place a try. We had delivery of sweet and sour chicken and Mongolian beef. The entrees came with fried rice, an egg roll and two crab rangoons. This is the best Chinese take out that I’ve had in quite a long time! I highly recommend this place.

As strip mall Chinese restaurants go this is ahead of the curve. Upscale interior and prices comparable to your average Chinese takeaway. The food is usual Chinese restaurant fare, but it’s good, cheap and filling.

Terrible company. I placed an order online with these people and have ordered delivery from here like 10 times before. They cancelled my order and when I called they said it was because the delivery driver said it was too far. WTF, i’m like 10 minutes away from the restaurant? Now I have to wait until my money gets refunded. Will never EVER order anything else from this crappy place.

I really love the food here. Also, the ladies that work here are really sweet. Definitely start with the fried pot stickers. For entrees, I have yet to have a bad one.

Very clean which is a plus, the wanton soup ISAMAZING. Only thing that blows me is when they have crab wrangoons with no crab!!! I ordered the Mongolian Beef… It’s was the best I’ve ever had, the sauce is sweet so I ordered it extra spicy. They serve big portions so you can share!!! My mom ordered the seafood delight and she couldn’t stop eating lol this is are new favorite Chinese Spot !!! If you’re in the Sandy Springs Canton House is another great choice !

Great Chinese, fast delivery, and amazing customer service! I order pretty frequently and the lady who answers the phone is so nice and remembers me every time. Also, the man who delivers, is always so kind and they always throw in something extra. The food is better than any Chinese place near me in Kennesaw, so I order for lunch and take it home for dinner. I am a return customer and I give it 5 stars. Keep up the good work!

Since we moved here from Chicago two and a half years ago, our biggest struggle is finding good Chinese food. My whole life, I’ve been spoiled by Chinatown in Chicago. Whenever I crave Chinese food, this is where I use to default. We live right down the street and one day decided we needed to give it a shot. We came in on a Sunday and decided to dine in. We started with the egg rolls, which were exactly as we remember from back home. We decided on Beef in Spicy Garlic Sauce with some fried rice for dinner. The beef was very tender, not chewy which was my fear. However, the fried rice seemed a little bland. They were fairly quick with our meal from beginning to end, so it only took us about 30 minutes from order to payment. Since our dine in, we’ve ordered take out a few times. Chef Chen doesn’t necessarily feed the craving we had for the taste back home, but it certainly helps the psyche when the Chinese food need hits.

Pretty decent Delivery/Takeout Chinese and by that I mean somewhere that is not authentic at all and makes food for lousy, fat Americans who want to gorge on large quantities. Who doesn’t want to time to time? Sticking with the frame of mind at the time, I ordered General Tso’s, Szeuchuan Dumplings(best dish) and egg rolls. The food was pretty crappy even though the ingredients were good which is why I even gave this place 3 stars. However, Tso’s Sauce was TOOOO sweet and the chicken was overbreaded. Being from San Francisco and living in Chicago my search for good takeout/delivery AMERICAN chinese in Smyrinings/NW Atlanta area continues… while under induction.

I can say it’s the best Chinese food on this side of town! I’ve been breaking my neck to find someone with good house fried rice with large shrimp! This is definitely the place for that! Great prices even though it’s 4 dollars extra for any type of special fried rice. Wings are good not the huge injected hormone chicken. Perfect sized wings! Not the best egg rolls. Matter a fact stay away from the egg rolls. That’s all for now folks

Solid takeout/delivery. Great dumplings and general dishes. Avoid the moo-shu, it was oily and flavorless. Other than that, good standard chinese food.

Chef Chen was my first attempt to find good Chinese delivery in the Vinings area(if only Tasty China delivered) after giving Orient Express entirely too many chances. And I’d say it’s a small step up from Orient Express — but decidedly average overall. Chef Chen is definitely«Americanized» Chinese food(nothing wrong with that, although I personally do prefer the more dynamic flavors of authentic Chinese). I’m a big fan of online ordering for delivery, and they have that here. Details: –Hot Braised Chicken Wings — we got these sort of accidentally since they were out of Ribs, and they were extremely good. Despite not being fried, they were probably better than the fried wings at the majority of restaurants. The menu notes them as hot & spicy — I didn’t find them spicy at all, but still very flavorful. –Moo Shu Pork — also very good. I would return for both the wings and the Moo Shu Pork. –Mongolian Beef — standard, average Mongolian beef. Doesn’t have the big flavors of Mongolian beef at some other places. –Pot Stickers(steamed) — standard, average pot stickers. –Beef on a stick — standard, average beef on a stick. Yes, there’s a trend here. –Dumplings with Hot Sesame Sauce — not bad, but disappointing(definitely not ‘Hot & Spicy’ as the menu claims). Go with the Pot Stickers. –Chicken with Spicy Garlic Sauce — Bland. That’s it, just bland. Easily the worst thing I’ve tried. I’ll also note that the prices are great. Pretty much everything at Chef Chen is at least 20% cheaper than the same dish at Orient Express, and many dishes are 30+% cheaper, for the same size portions. Both times I’ve ordered delivery it took about 45 minutes.

Chef Chen is the best chinese food that you will find in the Smyrna/Vinings area, hands down! My hubby and I have been looking for a good chinese spot since relocating to the area(about a year ago) and after trying out several other places — we finally found our go-to place for our random takeout cravings! The food is delicious and the servings are a great size! Try it for yourself — I promise you will not be disappointed! I recommend Chef Chen for those who are looking for great chinese takeout close to home. P. S. Their spring rolls are AMAZING! And the wonton soup is delicious!

I found myself at Chef Chen because it had a pretty good Unilocal review. I love Chinese food and am always looking for the perfect spot to have it. This spot is on my way home, so I decide to check it out. The place is very nice on the inside. The décor is contemporary and seemed very clean. There was nobody there on this particular weeknight, but a couple of patrons came in as I was eating. I ordered the Mongolian beef and a couple of springs rolls. The food was good. The spring rolls were hot and crispy just like I like. It only comes with cabbage inside. I could tell that they had just come out of the grease and that was a good thing. It took a long while to get the Mongolian Beef and I didn’t mind because I’m assuming it was made to order. It tasty pretty good, but was not the best I’ve had. The sauce seemed to lacking a bit. It was a nice, big portion though. Once the other couple of patrons came in, my service went down hill. I wasn’t checked on and so I sat for a long while, until finally I had to wave down a lady to get me a box and my check. I was sitting in a booth toward the front of the restaurant and the other folks were sitting towards the back, so I felt forgotten about. Also, the menu stated that the Mongolian Beef would be $ 8.95 for the dinner portion, but I was charged $ 10 and some change. I asked about this and was lead to the front door where the chalk board stated that the price of beef and shrimp had gone up and therefore their prices for this dish had gone up. The lady explained to me that it would expensive to change all the menus. I understand, but couldn’t they have put stickers with the new price on the menu? That way the entire menu wouldn’t have to be re-done and they could be removed once prices normalized. Anyway, three stars for now. I will be back to have a taste of their other offerings and I will make sure I read that board. Amen!

Hands down the best Chinese takeout I’ve had in a long time. I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a place so much since I lived in Tallahassee three years ago. Now is a good time to remind you– I don’t look for authenticity in my Asian food. I grew up on the Americanized stuff and that’s what I like. This place has got it. And they’ve got it fresh. And plentiful. And fair prices. My husband had the General Tso’s chicken, I had the spicy eggplant and chicken and we shared a chicken lo mein. Cluck cluck. Oh there were also some crab rangoons thrown in because it was a takeout order over $ 25 so, boom! Loved the eggplant with chicken. It really was spicy, without being too hot. The eggplant wasn’t mushy and you could tell the veggies were fresh. I also enjoyed my wonton soup. It wasn’t water with wontons it was well flavored soup and that was a beautiful thing. My husband enjoyed his chicken dish and we both loved the lo mein. Definitely keeping this as my go to for Sunday Chinese takeout!
