While the staff at the salon is nice and the atmosphere is friendly, the technique how they do the highlights is so so.

I’ve been seeing Sara for almost two years for a mens haircut– she always delivers great consistent service. For what it’s worth to anyone else, I have been to many stylist and can say that Sara is a pro and understands how to give a great haircut. I would especially recommend her to guys who have medium/longer length hair that are tired of getting butchered by wannabe stylist.

I’ve gotten my haircut at Radius four times and I’m thrilled I made the switch from where I used to go to get my haircut. I didn’t think I would be able to tell the difference between a cheap, quick cut and a salon quality cut but I definitely can and I intend to give Radius my business. The owner, Aaron, is extremely personable and the atmosphere is relaxed. Jessica did my hair the past few times I went and she is friendly and gives a great cut for the money. I recommend Radius to anyone looking for a quality men’s cut in the Smyrna/Vinings area.

I’ve been to Radius salon multiple times, and had fairly ok service up until my last visit. Most of my visits have been for styling and cuts, only a few times for color. The styling has always been really good, cuts reasonable, and color, middle of the road. I recently went in for hair color, and was immediately referred to the owner for a pricing and consultation. She immediately started talking about the brown hair… I have no brown hair, my hair is dyed red with blonde highlights, and I have natural blonde roots. I asked her what she was talking about, and she said she was talking about my roots… I was nervous, since she couldn’t tell the difference between blonde and brown. I pointed out to her that there was no brown on my head, and she got very snooty and informed me that she is a «colorist». I think I know my own hair color, I’ve been a blonde my entire life, and I have darker roots than the rest of my head, but it is still definitely blonde. She got very confrontational at this point, since I questioned her judgment, and I should have known to walk out then, but I was desperate to get my hair done, and didn’t have another salon in mind to go to. After having her be very snooty, I told her I would only talk with my stylist, and demanded she have her come talk to me. I sat down and began reading a magazine, and apparently my anger at being treated so horribly showed on my face, as the owner came back over to «apologize» but she was still incredibly rude, and it was anything but an apology. Eventually Aaron came over to check on me, not sure whether it was at the owner’s behest or his own accord. Aaron is great, he’s the front desk person, and he takes great care of the clients. My stylist came over about then, and we discussed my hair. I was aware that the owner had discussed things with the stylist, but I tried to keep that out of my mind while we discussed my hair. My stylist was friendly enough; not the most friendly, but well enough. She asked another stylist for color tips, once we decided on a color(warning #2). I understand red is difficult to color, but I’ve had excellent dye jobs in the past, it shouldn’t be this difficult! I should have said no and walked out, but I didn’t. I warned the stylist multiple times that my roots were in fact blonde and do soak up color like a sponge, and to specifically not to use any color with a purple or blue base. We had talked about and decided on a color scheme with a blonde base for the red, and she went to the other stylist to determine what levels to use, etc. The cut and styling was excellent, I cannot fault them for that, but at this moment, I have dark red with a blue/purple base on my roots, and a red with an orange-brown tint that’s 4 or 5 shades lighter, on the rest of my hair. Every time I wash my hair, the difference gets more and more obvious, as the roots aren’t lightening, but the rest of my hair is. My towels are stained orange, as the hair dye is still coming out a week later. Not to mention, the color is NOTHING like what we discussed. It’s not even in the same ball park as the picture we had decided on. The color difference between the roots and main hair was obvious the day I had it done, and I pointed it out and my stylist told me to come back in this week(a week later) and she could do more to make it better. I’m obviously not going back for more of the horrible treatment and terrible hair. That’s not what I paid good money for, and I wasn’t about to come back and pay more. I was about to cry, my hair is the one things I care about, and they butchered it. Not sure what I’m going to do, trying to find another salon to fix it. It’s so bad, I’m tempted to drive back up to Chattanooga, and getting my hair done at Hair Benders, which is internationally known. If you’re going for a cut and style, this place is fine. If you want color, avoid at all costs. This salon is definitely for you if you enjoy being treated like a 3rd rate citizen by the owner.
