I don’t like going to our local Roses because there is always a ton of stuff in the isles. The store attempts to maintain some sort of organization; however, they’re not able to maintain this for even an average day. The quality of merchandise is pretty bad and when they do sell something with a name brand, it’s often times just as much or more $ than it is at Walmart.

Rose’s is kind of a unique store. Where else can you find Backstreet Boys trading cards from the ‘90s, lava lamps, cheap gardening tools, and cut-rate clothing? This is the perfect store to find gifts for a white elephant exchange or just for a gag. If you’re looking for the kind of bad movies on the IMDB’s Bottom 100 list, you’ve come to the right place — you will find some gems in their discount DVD bin. Searching for such schlock one fine evening, I stopped by. I told the teenaged checkout clerk that the store was great — where else might I find such low-brow fare? Surely not at Best Buy. The clerk replied: «Yeah…well…we’re definitely good at carrying things nobody else would want to.» Right on, man; right on! The biggest disappointment about this store, however, is the fact that you don’t often experience the same entertainment from the clientele that you do at a Wal-Mart. The people shopping here are pretty laid back and quiet, and don’t do crazy things like drive around the parking lot in a beat-up pickup truck raising a ruckus with their duck call.
