First of all I want you to know my partner and I have been regular customer’s the past year. The food and service are good. Usually. We just left the restaurant and a handsome devil at the front named Royal slipped my wife his business card. This is very unusual. Why? I ascribe some pernicious and inappropriate motive, we will not return. This is creepy and strange behaviour. Slipping your business cards to customers wives… not a good idea. Clint

Sri Krishna Vilas nw the wild root serves delicious Indian food but below are sm pros n cons I observed : Pros : 1) buffet is good value for money. 2) bar attached 3) Customer relationship. They have never disappointed me whenever I wanted to order food after 2230hrs EST. one good thing which makes a customer to comeback to this outlet again. Cons: 1) biriyani has too much masala. You can find masala chucks which are not mixed properly. Too spicy I would say !! Both egg as well as chicken. 2) ambience is little dull. Can be made little vibrant with good music Note: the above review is for Smyrna outlet

This place is now called Wild Roots of India. The one star is for my experience, since I really cannot give a review of the food. When we entered we were told there would be a 10 minute wait(although there were plenty of tables and booths available). After 10 minutes, the guy at the counter told us that there was no more food — that the trays were empty. This was at lunch time, during peak lunch buffet hours(1:00PM). We left and went to Mint Leaf. I must say that I have been unable to find a decent Indian Buffet in the Atlanta Metro area — and was hoping to try this one out. I agree with the person who does not like Swampna. This person will be glad to know that it is gonna be torn down for the Braves stadium and parking.

There are several locations of Sri Krishna Vilas around Atlanta. I’ve been to the one in Alpharetta off Windward and the fast-food version at Global Mall, and now this location. I’m not sure if they are related or if they are all separate businesses — I believe they are mostly separate. This location is near the very good Swapna so I’m not sure how well it will do — I think the same location was a Mexican restaurant many years ago that I would occasionally visit. The interior is very dark but also very spacious, so you can get quite a few people into a group setting. The buffet was adequate but not as good as what I’ve experienced at the Alpharetta location(if they are the same company). I think the level of spice(not heat, but intensity) is a bit dumbed-down here — Swapna is frankly better. The buffet was about the same size as Swapna and could have a bit more selection. We did receive very good service so I wish them success.

This review is based on there Buffet only. In my second day of house hunting we happened to have stumbled upon Shri Krishna, being tired and exhausted from house hunting we decided to try Indian food. I have tried Indian food in all the cities are and state is have traveled and Shri Krishna was best Indian food ever. Love it so much tha we went every weekend To Shri Krishna For first two months being here is Atlanta. Then one day the chef changed and everything changed. I have had the best biryani here in my life, better then Hyderabad which is known for its biryani. Overall ok food

First of all SWAPNASUCKS! if you like that dump you will not like this restaurant. Anyone who likes swapna makes me question their sanity, if they can actually cook, and if they have exposed to radiation. My companion and i came here last night 11−7−15, it was a rainy night and not very crowed but they had a decent crowd. The décor was modern with an indian flair, it gave a sophisticated feel to the restaurant. Out waitress either didn’t know English very well or had an attitude out of this world. It was hard to determine so we mirrored her mannerisms and it balanced out. I ordered the rasam soup, it said spicy on the menu but I didn’t believe it. I AMTHEQUEENOFSPICY! the soup exceeded my expectations and was indeed spicy! Very tasty and delicious accompanied by the cheese Naan I ordered. My companion had the lamb vindaloo and I was very good, I ordered the goat pepper which was equally as good and well seasoned. If you like that God awful swapna it’s no way you would like this place! I THINKSWAPNASHOULDBEDEMOLISHED! but I digress… the food here is pricey and the prices don’t reflect in the portion sizes, its like cmon man if you are charging $ 14 a dish im going to need 2 more spoonfuls of meat and 3 more spoonfuls of rice! Basmati rice is $ 30 for the big mother sized bag in the grocery store, i know you are getting a deal being you are buying in bulk! 2 more spoonfuls of rice is not going to bankrupt you! Smh Ttheir appetizer menu needs work, and the customer service lackluster. The bar tender came over to our table to advise us of Indian beers, me and my companion informed her we are very familiar with beer lol she said if we ordered beers we would get a complimentary soft drink. We ordered beers, they were cold and complimented the meal, and I would strongly recommend trying the beers(pics posted). We did find it hilarious the bartender was eating something as she was talking to us or maybe she was chewing gum but her mouth was full. The waitress forgot to add my companions soup on, but we got charged for it, she took it off after questioning why we didn’t get the soup. Shit you tell me why we didnt get the soup because the food wrangler damn sure showed us the slip that the soup wasn’t on there, in his exact words«if the soup was on here I would’ve brought it out.» lol it was all too comical to be upset about, at least they tried. Would I come back? YES… planet bombay is still my favorite indian spot besides raja in atlanta but I have try to this places buffet, which my companion and I plan on doing sometime this week :-) yes our food was that good. I stuck to trying dishes I was familiar with and I was pleasantly surprised. I came into this restaurant with no expectations and now they will have 2 repeat visitors within 72 hours. Even the kids enjoyed it and was licking the sauces off the spoons lol diffinitely worth checking out! 4 out of 5 stars due to the kinks they need to work out. I will be updating my review once I try the buffet. ******UPDATE******* We were here 11−14−15 just so happens for the pre DIWALI celebration(look it up), the food was outstanding yet again! The chicken birynai was unusual, like the taste was foreign because I never had it before but I liked the sauces that came with it. The butter chicken was saucy and mildly sweet, like you just keep eating it. The goat and spinach was good, just needed a little heat and 1 shake of salt and it would’ve been amazing. Very tasty, very enjoyable, and we will diffinitely be back for the buffet. Spent $ 57 on 3 dishes that came with rice, 2 soups, and 2 orders of nan. Not bad considering we were going to go to wing factory and order(2) 18 piece wings with fries and the lady over the phone said $ 40. Sheeeet for some wings?!! Later for that, before I spend $ 40 on some wings I will come here… and we did :-)

I loved the food here. It was the first day when we moved to Atlanta and already had their food twice in one week. I ordered Uttappa and Biryani and it was yumm. I had asked to roast my uttappa a little longer and they did it perfectly. They provide unlimited sambhar and chutney where is rare to find here in US. The combo of these 3 perfect taste reminds me having it back in my home country. The biryani was tasty too, a lil spicy for me. Next we had the lunch combo where though we arrived late they let us in. The food variety was good and besides south indian, punjabi sabji tasted perfect. And yes the samosa too was perfect. Just a lil concern about the cleaniness(you guys should improve a bit). And yes the songs were also a bit loud, I understand hindi but someone who doesnt might find it annoying. Overall I am going to continue eating at Shri Krishna and recommend it to all !!

Outstanding lunch buffett! Options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets. All food is very fresh and delicious. Plus, it is in a great spot centrally located to highways and throughways in Smyrna. Not to mention close to work! I’m not Indian, but I enjoy the food and enjoy trying different cuisine from time to time. I will definitely be back many times in the future!

It just trying to be an average. Although the experience was not bad yet It really does not offer the customer anything to return to it or remember it by. The ambiance and customer service was slow. The restaurant is actually divided into two sections. I failed to understand why we were taken to the section which was deserted or probably closed at that time and moreover where the staff was wiping the cutlery very noisily indeed. It was the section where they have the lunch buffet. For dinner it looked more like a staff back area with piles of ceramic plates and cutlery being stored in dark corners and covered with dish clothes. The service time was reasonable and the food which arrived was A-OK. For a party of four we ordered two dosas, an Andhra fish curry and biryani. The lassi which came was freshly whipped and sweet. The set of four chutneys with crackers which came immediately after ordering were indeed delicious however, the rest wasn’t as commendable. Upon ordering the filter coffee, the server himself discouraged me saying its not authentic. Really appreciate the honesty yet wondered about why have it on the menu atal if its not upto the mark. Parking Space is ample, location is central and easy to get to. The restaurant does have a buffet for lunch which I have been told is good enough. I haven’t tried it myself by wouldn’t mind trying should I have no other option of any other Indian restaurant left to go to.

Insane good Indian food. They switch up the menu a lot and have bomb desserts. I’ve eaten at so many Indians restaurants over the last two years and figured I would be able to shell out some Indian dish names for you but I can’t. The carrot dessert is my reason for living. Eat here.

This place isn’t bad, but it’s definitely not as good as Swapna in terms of quality of food. I’m a lover of piping hot food and the food served here during the lunch buffet was lukewarm even though I arrived right after the lunch buffet opened. There is more of a selection of items on the lunch buffet here than Swapna, but in terms of vegetarian items they are lacking. The nann was too heavy and doughy. The rice wasn’t fluffy, and the meats overall appeared dry. Usually I can eat two plates of food at Swapna, and want more, but I found myself barely wanting to finish one plate here. Décor wise it was very dark inside. The shades were drawn and with the dark ceilings I felt like I was in a cave. I did like the plate ware and choice of silverware here, but sadly that alone doesn’t justify a return visit.

I ordered my staples, garlic and bullet nan, palak paneer and paneer tikka masala. Flavorful and not overly rich — the right amount of ghee! Nan’s were cooked right. I like a bit more garlic and jalapeño, but I’m nitpicking. Taj beer was nice and cold. Good came out piping hot. Really nice dining room loaded with comfortable banquets. Bollywood videos and cricket on TV’s complete the contemporary Indian feel. Attentive service! Go and enjoy.

I’ve only been to the lunch buffet, so my review is based on that. Great selection, there’s probably 20 – 25 items to choose from. Very good tandoori chicken, great coconut curry goat, and very good Chicken Briyani. The butter chicken was good the first time I went, but this most recent time the chicken was a little too dry and the sauce too creamy. Overall, the food is good and the selection is abundant. Worth checking out if in the area.

New restaurant on the block in an already crowded Indian restaurant scene in Atlanta. It’s a large restaurant with bar and TVs mostly playing cricket and Bollywood music. We went for lunch buffet. It has decent number of dishes but unfortunately numbers doesn’t add up to taste. Some of the dishes were good and others were a bit bland. My favorite part of the lunch was sambar, chutneys, tandoor chicken and chicken biryani. Other dishes that I tried were Apollo fish fry(soggy for fish fry), coriander chicken(no flavor of coriander). Over all the ambience and variety are the plus points while the food lacks the flavor. Hope to see things improving in near future.

Ambiance: 7⁄10 Service: 6⁄10 Food 8 ½ /10 And that pretty much sums up. In comparison to other indian buffet places in atlanta this one definitely takes the lead. The goat meat was very tender and the food selection was great. There’s something for every taste bud. Even their desserts are plentiful. Would definitely recommend this place if you are in the mood for an indian buffet.

Mon-Fri lunch buffet is now $ 11.95(6÷22÷15). *************************************************************** Best Indian buffet, hands-down! My former co-worker who is Indian introduced me to it and this is her favorite too. South Indian cuisine. Their buffet selection seems more than others, always looks fresh, includes some new dishes I’d never seen before, and between my two visits — they change up the dishes too. The space is pretty big too and very nice — from the outside, looks like it was a former Po’ Folks restaurant. If you’ve never had Indian food before, this is a great place to try. Lunch buffet is $ 10.95, Mon-Fri 11:30 — 2:30. Not sure about the weekend price, Sat-Sun 12−3pm. From what my Indian friend said, weekends are super busy — there are lines even at 2:30pm … so you might be better off going during the week. My favorites — coconut basmati rice, fritters that look like donuts, cauliflower saag(actually anything saag), butter chicken, tandoori chicken(not dry like most buffets), rice pudding … and others but not sure of the names. Service is friendly and attentive– as soon as you’re done with your plate, it is immediately removed. They have multiple big screens playing Bollywood music so if you come by yourself, there are other things to see besides your food and smartphone. My new favorite Indian spot.

Another Indian restaurant close to Cumberland Mall? Yes! Giving the veteran, Swapna, up for a challenge. After trying out other Indian restaurants nearby like Nirvana and Taj Biryani Indian Cuisine. Why try another one? Just cause I’m so happy there are more options now. I used to not want to go out during lunch cause of not enough variety of different types of cuisines closer to work. Sri Krishna Vilas is located off Springs Road and Cumberland Boulevard. I’ve eaten at Sri Krishna Vilas already before but at the food court at Global Mall. It is really good. They have the best samosas that I’ve ever tasted, plus their masala dosa is so good. Therefore, I couldn’t pass up a chance to go to the new Smryna location. At Global Mall, Sri Krishna Vilas is vegetarian but not in Smyrna. One of my girlfriends is a vegetarian and we were going to meet up for lunch. Even though the Smryna location isn’t vegetarian, most Indian restaurants have enough choices for vegetarians too. Walking in the restaurant, it has a bar on the left hand side with a TV playing the latest Bollywood music that I recognized, songs from Happy New Years to Kick to Gunday. There are two more TVs on the other side with the buffet items. Separated by a small wall, on the other side is the buffet items for lunch. There were more choices than I thought. The meat selection was the farthest one on the left. I like how they separate the meat dishes from the rest. Next to the meats are the non meat dishes. On the other side are the appetizer selection, next to it is the desserts. Between them are small bowls for your convenience. Oh yeah, no Styrofoam city. Restaurant is more elegant but has a casual feel. My favorite is the Chicken 65, I kept going back for fourths. It’s so good. I wish it was a little bit more spicier but overall, really love how tender and crispy it is. I also am in love with the mango dessert, so yummy. Naan is also on the buffet, not my favorite idea since I prefer fresh naan but I’m trying not to eat so much carbs and only had one. I did good since I usually eat twenty. I am blank on the other dishes right now cause that Chicken 65 is still on my mind. Oh yeah, the kheer is really good too! Service is great! Everyone is so sweet, friendly, and attentive. I cannot wait to go back. It’s definitely my favorite Indian restaurant close to Cumberland Mall. I can eat all the Chicken 65 I want and listen/watch the latest Bollywood music/videos.

I don’t know how long this place has been here but I have never noticed it and I’m really sad because I could have been eating delicious food much sooner. Came here with my boyfriend’s family and everything was great. Vegetable dosa, lamb tikka, chicken tandoori, vegetable balls, saag, all yummy. The lamb tikka was especially good. And good mango lassis too! The server was really friendly and the service was pretty quick. Compared to Swapna it is similarly priced, but more upscale(? I don’t know if that’s the right word but it’s a nicer restaurant). I don’t know if I can really compare the food because I got swapna almost exclusively for lunch and went to Sri Krishna for dinner…

As a longtime Swapna patron and Indian food lover, I was intrigued by this new Indian place that opened just down the street from Swapna. I finally ventured here tonight, and was comparing it to Swapna(really my only Atlanta Indian food experience) every step of the way, so humor me here, I couldn’t write this review any other way. Sri Krishna Vilas is a chain with three other locations, the oldest of which has been open over a decade. So, someone somewhere is doing something right. SETTING: They took over what used to be a Black Eyed Pea restaurant, with ample parking and an overall much nicer property than Swapna which is cramped on an unlevel piece of real estate. The interior reflects a clear investment – a long bar, intricate ceiling, big screen TV, nice and new bathrooms. One awkward thing, however, was how far away our booth benches were from the table – when I leaned back my knees barely cleared the edge of the table so I was left leaning forward the entire time. Tonight, Sri Krishna Vilas lacked enough energy to fill what some would think a beautiful interior. The parking lot was alarmingly empty when we arrived, and we were one of half a dozen parties throughout our meal. Round winner: Tie. SERVICE: The gentleman that took our order used an iPad and was super patient with our questions about the various dishes(my mom isn’t super familiar with Indian food and always asks for recommendations). Things were well timed, although I don’t think the guy that brought out our naan really understood English that well. It was buttered, even though we asked for plain, and there was a bit of confusion around that, but our waiter swiftly intervened and brought out the correct batch of naan. Round winner: Sri Krishna Vilas…(Swapna doesn’t always have their act together service wise) FOOD: We ordered veg samosas to start, which were pretty large and lightly fried. I ordered the palak paneer as my main, and my mom got the chicken saag. Our waiter assured me that palak and saag were the same thing… and I did some research on the internet that semi-confirms that(fyi: «palak» means spinach, while«saag» means greens, often spinach), however the sauce of her dish came out looking slightly thicker, which I would have preferred. I found my palak paneer quite runny, and containing what I think were raisins(I know that’s a thing with Indian food sometimes, its my personal preference to go without. Raisins are gross, man). So maybe the weren’t the same thing. Naan wasn’t included with the entrees, so we had to order that a la carte… a small thing, but Swapna includes naan. I’m just saying… Round winner: Swapna… hands down. Even if they were actually the same quality(which they aren’t) Swapna would win because naan is included in the meal. Overall winner: For your average American who is open-minded, but not super familiar with Indian food– Sri Krishna Vilas. For me– Swapna still occupies that special place in my heart. The real question: Can this neighborhood support two Indian restaurants?
