The potato leek soup was awesome, however, the shepherds pie seemed as if it was made with instant potatoes. It was not flavorful even after mixing the stew with the potatoes. The soda was also flat. Wait staff was friendly.

I have to say the waitresses were very Nice and the food was great. That being said, I came with a my large Irish family and we ended up being seated at a couple different tables so they were unable to put us all together, no big deal. Rap music blaring in an Irish Pub is not conducive to conversation nor does it have a place in this kind of atmosphere. Had to repeatedly ask to turn it down. Ordered a corned beef dinner only to find out they were out! Reuben? No! Settled on a Shepard’s pie which was delicious and also had clams and wings for appetizers, all good, just don’t expect the experience you were hoping for.

New owners have turned things around. Great food, friendly staff, and perfect pours on the Guinness! A nice place to meet friends, relax, and catch a local band on Friday nights. Top menu items: Wings – Just TOP notch! Cooked perfect, and the Celtic or Traditional Wing Sauces are spot on(the others are pretty good too!) I crave the wings here, and make the drive South often just for them. The cook keeps the oil fresh, and you don’t get that burned/old oil flavor in the wings like you get at so many other places. Burgers — Fresh rolls, great flavor in the burger. The Ghost Burger is a great choice, and really not too spicy hot. Hand Cut Fries(i.e home made daily) Fresh, delicious. Splash some vinegar on them and you’ll smile with every bite! House Salad — Almost a meal in itself. I like to add grilled chicken & some hot sauce and blue cheese dressing. Perfect bar meal! The newly added Hanger Steak has a great flavor and is rubbed down with Stonefly spices. I usually go for the wings, but this one temps me every time. Nachos, Crab Dip, and Shepard’s Pie are also great choices.

This was my first visit hear since the new owners took over. I was very impressed. We came in after lunch before dinner and it was slow. The service was excellent and the owners even checked in to see how everything was, this made me feel like my business mattered, I don’t get this level of service even at the place I go to 3 to 4 times a week. I had the crab dip which was fresh, very flavorful and worth the price of 12 dollars. My entrée was the French dip sandwich that I upgraded to include fries, the sandwich was very good and the gross were out of this world, you could tell they are fresh cut the additional cost of 2 bucks from the fresh made chips seemed a little bit much but the gross were awesome. The other member of my party for the cornbeef which looked great the portion was large and worth the price, i tried the meat and while very lean it seamed like it was missing something in flavor. I enjoyed this visit and will definitely be back.

Is this place good or is it great! It is under new ownership and has made a turn around. The menu is unique, the bartenders are cool and the setting is comfortable. The food is excellent!

well I do go here from time to time But because of karaeoke, and even though I been there a lot I always wait so long for someone to ask me what I want, I go up to the bar to order my drinks they say they well bring it to me I still wait, average wait is over fifteen minutes, they do not care unless you are friends and all the good reviews do come from them that’s why they talk bad of smyrna diner and sportszone, I don’t care for them places either but you do get good service from them,.

Took forever to get my beverage. Expected it to be more personable because of the small setting that was certainly not the case. Was out of certain specialty food and the beer was warm. Wouldn’t recommend it.

This is a laid back place with good food. Love the bangers and mash. They also have a good beer selection.

I highly disagree with Ms. Rena. Not trying to be disrespectful or anything, but however, I was also there that night and I guess she hasn’t been a packed restaurant. The food was amazing and service was very friendly and helpful. With the Celtic still being in new management I feel as though they are still trying to fix the«bugs» that are still occurring. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant for it’s great food, friendly helpful service, and hospitality of the owners.

I don’t often go to a restaurant and then walk out before we get our food but last evening was an exception. We went to a place called The Celtic Pub in Smyrna, De. The place was not too busy, maybe 40 people total. It was there ‘bingo’ night and everyone was playing to win food or drink prizes. After waiting a minute or 2 we asked and were told to seat ourselves and we did. Everyone seemed more interested in playing bingo. A lady from a table next to us asked us if we wanted to play and rapidly went to get us bingo cards. But no one came to the table to get a drink order or give us menus. I finally leaned over to the lady who got us the cards and asked if there were menus. She jumped up and got us 2 menus. About 10 min later a waitress came and took our drink order(water for me and a coke for DH) and we said we were ready to order. We ordered an appetizer of broccoli bites and when I said I wanted the fish and chips, they were out of fish. Okay, not happy but that happens. So I ordered something else. And the wait began. I won a bingo game and the wait continued-no drinks or appetizer but told the appetizer would be out shortly. Twenty minutes later someone realizes we haven’t even got out drinks. Other people are getting food and appetizers. They eventually got our drinks and confirm what type of food DH wants and say the appetizer will be out very soon. More people are getting their appetizers. Five minutes later they come out and tell us they have run out of the appetizer we ordered. I got livid. At that point I said we would pay for our drinks and leave. DH said he had not even drank any of his soda, did we have to pay for it? No we didn’t, so we left. It is sad when an establishment is more interested in entertainment than service. I HIGHLY suggest you AVOID, AVOID, AVOID this place.

This place is banging! Great food and drink selection. I love the burgers and they do really good traditional fare like Bangers & Mash. Good buzz and good music, too.

This sweet, cozy joint is under new ownership … Lucky for us! Heard about the change from a friend … The menu includes hand cut fries, both regular & sweet :). The nacho chips are freshly fried in house as well, and made my crab nachos ridiculously delicious! From the bar … The Bloody Marys are made with house infused cucumber & bacon vodka; they’re garnished w a Slice of crispy bacon … YUM! The housemade lemoncello is better than anything out there. The staff is warm & gracious & we found the owners on site, greeting & meeting — they are fully vested in the success of this joint! Stop in & try it out … You’ll be back in no time — I know we’ll be. They also have live music a couple nights a week. Some great bands … I’ll be back for that too :))

Heard this place was under new management and decided to give it try, glad I did. Started with a Guinness while I scanned the menu and was pleasantly surprised to learn that they had live music on a Wednesday night. Decided to try the French Dip sandwich which is sliced roast beef with provolone on a toasted hoagie roll and a side of their french onion soup to dip the sandwich in, which was fantastic, the only thing it was missing was horseradish, which was quickly provided when asked for. Also received fresh cooked potato chips with it, seasoning was nice and they were not greasy, just crisp. Also like the idea of the $ 6.00 Craft Beer Mystery Buckets, gotta get a couple of friends together for that! Really can’t wait to go back.

Smyrna, DE was the perfect midway stop from NYC to my vacation destination in Ocean City, MD. The Best Western hotel here is a beautiful bargain at $ 89, for all of the amenities that they offer. On top of that, there were so many local haunts to choose from. This town is truly Americana. We first attempted to go to the SportZone: ( ) But it was so packed with local revelers, and I wasn’t up to line dancing. Needing something more subdued, we went to the Celtic Pub. Great choice! Amy was an awesome bartender that made us feel welcome, while somebody’s uncle sang karaōke country songs while we were there. This ain’t no fancy-dancy city folk place. Just good grub. And actually, not that Irish either. The young cook, with his tattoos and piercings, wandered out in between orders, which I found refreshing. I’m currently addicted to Old Bay chicken wings, and their version was better than most of the others I have ordered at other bars. I also recommend the Irish Roast Beef Sandwich. It’s huge! With fries, and the chunkiest potato salad too! When we were leaving, I thought it was cute that a regular sang to the bartender, «Amy, what you wanna do?’. «I’d like to have a beer with you, for a while, maybe longer but not until 2», she sang back. So sweet! If I lived in Smyrna, I would likely be here on most nights of the week.

Well stopped in on my way up from a meeting at the beach. Looked over the menu and it seems like this place is more of a sports bar the«Irish Pub.» I tried the potato soup, bad mistake. No taste or flavor. Then went on to the bangers and mash. Bland and canned gravy. At least the waitstaff is very pleasant and the Guinness was flowing. I will stop back for drinks, but no food.

Expensive beer, indifferent people, and slow crowds. Sound like your cup of tea? Well come here and drink up, cause those three are constants. As a back up plan, if you ever run out of dogfood, stop by this place and order just about anything off the menu, and it should suffice. That is, only if your dog is like mine and eats poop!

Went here with a friend recently to branch out a little bit and go someplace besides Sheridan’s for lunch. The pub fare was acceptable, but not remarkable. Service was pleasant and fairly standard, although the kilts they have the waitresses wear makes the restaurant seem like they’re trying a little too hard to play up the«Irish» thing. Maybe they feel they have to make up for the décor — with TVs blaring, it kind of makes one wonder whether the restaurant is an Irish pub or a sports bar. I suppose this place is about as classy as a pub in a strip mall in lower Delaware can be, but that’s really not saying much.
