So pretty! The owner Howard was so welcoming and our waiter Charles was flawless! I got the express lunch with chicken salad and crab bisque and the BF got the crabcake Benedict. Yum to both! The coffee is good and it’s definitely worth the stop!

My friend wanted to try this place for awhile so we finally tried it for Sunday brunch. I asked to sit at the window seat when they tried to put us at the back of the room. Cute historic inn. Love the décor and feel of the place. We sat down and ordered. We got mimosas and i ordered the breakfast flatbread which consisted of bacon, purple potatoes, sunny side egg on top with this garlic crème. In theory it sounded good and looked good. The taste was a bit overwhelming. The garlic crème sauce was pasty and too garlicky. There was too much bacon and it was extremely salty. I tried to eat it but my friend told the waiter we didn’t like it and I ordered what she got the Asian po boy sandwich with fries. The sauce and sandwich is amazing ! Charles our waiter was very attentive and nice. The owner came over to talk about the dish we sent back and he explained that they will be having a new chef soon to better suit ‘local tastes’. Just for the po boy sandwich and fries alone I’ll come back and try something else! Hopefully my ratings will be higher next time I visit.

The owner greeted us and the hostess welcomed us and got our table ready. The omelette station was wonderful as was the carving station. I didn’t try many of the sides but the sausage and bacon are local farm fresh and delicious. Add a Mimosa and what else do you need?

I want to be really excited about this place. I’ve been here 3 times. Twice for lunch, once for dinner. All three times the wait for the food was longer and longer. The food is good. However for fine dining the servers need some major work. Sorry but painted acrylic nails are not appropriate for a server, neither for a man or a woman… I don’t want that on my plate! I came for dinner with 7 friends, on a Saturday night. We sat down 645, 7 we ordered, 8:17 we received our food! We ordered a wine from Argentina, we received a bottled of sterling Ca which the server did not present nor did she pour the wine. I served my guest the wine and never said anything about it. But really? As we sat for an hour and fifteen minutes waiting our server annoyingly ask us if we needed anything… she never poured the wine and 3 of my guest had to ask for water even though many servers past with water. After asking If soon we would receive our food and our server blaming the wait on the fact that we order pork, fish and steak. I went upstairs to my guest… then a gentlemen enter with a grouchy face and ask if everything was ok. KNOWONEAPOLOGIZED , ever not even a decent excuse. I was mortified, my guest spent a half an hour talking about how hungry they were. Please improve !!! I want to like this place!!! Work on your kitchen crew. And polish up your staff. Also the cup of soup should have a saucer. I’m not a fan of square plates that’s personal but a severs hand should not have to touch the lip of the bowl to set it down. Especially with acrylic nails!!! Also please polish silware and make sure all glasses are free of lipstick and water marks! I know your new but some of this stuff is just common sense to the industry!

Saved the first visit for a special occasion, Anniversary dinner! Made reservations for a quite setting. Upon check-in, was pleasantly greeted and seated in a private room upstairs. Friendly and attentive server greeted us promptly and took drink orders. Started meal with Wedge salad and Beet salad. Wedge was fresh and served with a delicious blue cheese dressing, Beet salad is something you won’t find in any other local restaurant and delicious. Main course selections were Duck(at the recommendation of our server) and Salmon. Both were served with roasted root veggies. Again, not going to find these selections in the local restaurants. Although both of us were stuffed, we had to try the desserts, bead pudding and Cranberry Bavarian… both delicious! Yes folks, a bit pricier than pizza/cheesesteaks, but I would expect to pay for quality. Great experience, and will definitely be returning!

I gave this place 3 tries before I was ready to write my review. My visit today was reflective of my previous 2 visits. Today I ate at the bar, but previously sat in the downstairs dining room, and upstairs in a room with a fireplace. Both dining room visits were pleasant however, the tables in the entire place need to be re-arranged for diner comfort. Not sure who decided stools would be a good idea upstairs but they should be put in the bar area. The first time we came in we were placed upstairs at a table with stools and my 68 year old father was uncomfortable for most of the meal. The second time we had chairs but the tables were too close together and wait staff and other people kept brushing us as they walked by while we were trying to eat. Today I went in around 4:30 pm wanting to try the shrimp and grits appetizer however it’s not on the tavern menu. Not sure why all appetizers aren’t offered on all menus. I ordered a Paloma margarita which is a $ 10 drink. While it tasted average and had quality alcohol content, it wasn’t visually pleasing like a $ 10 drink should be. It just looked like a glass of grapefruit juice and the rim wasn’t salted although I wished it had been. Tequila and salt kinda go together. I ordered the Buffalo bites appetizer($ 8) and the Black and Bleu burger($ 12) however my appetizer arrived the same time that my meal did. I didn’t think I’d have to tell an upscale restaurant that I wanted my appetizer first. Service was at an all time low today as I waited some time to place my order. The bartender told me she would be right with me then proceeded to complete housekeeping tasks behind the bar for about 10 minutes before coming to take my order. After receiving my food I had to flag down a bartender and ask for silverware. The appetizer and the burger were delicious and the burger was cooked perfectly rare as I requested. During the meal I finished my alcoholic beverage and no one asked if I wanted another, although they did refill my iced tea. It took approximately 25 minutes to get my meal which seemed pretty slow considering it wasn’t that busy in there. After my meal was finished it took about 15 minutes to clear my plates. I visited the bathroom and the paper towel dispenser was empty, so nothing to dry my hands on after washing. I ordered 2 desserts: Black Chocolate Cake and Apple Frangipane Tart. The cake was only okay. I didn’t care for it or the sorbet on top. However, the Tart was amazing! Would definitely order again. When I gave my credit card to pay, she ran my card on the incorrect tab and they had to credit and re-run. They need to number seats and tables in the bar because the servers consistently brought the wrong food to the wrong people in the bar area and even though the bar area wasn’t busy, I was only slightly horrified the bartender couldn’t remember which tab was mine. Overall the bartenders were polite but unfriendly. I was there for over an hour and no one spoke to me except to take my order. The food is good here but the wait staff doesn’t seem to understand good customer service. Staff needs intense training to bring their service to an upscale level and owners need to make a point to bring more restaurant experienced people on board. The staff just didn’t seem to know what they were doing and also spent a lot of time socializing. Overall, great food but chain restaurant level service that’s disappointing.

The duck was fabulous. Very original house salad with kale and roasted cauliflower very yummy. Negatives my wine glass came with lipstick in the rim. Lovely red rose given to all lady diners tonight.

Ok. Well this place has a lot of potential. Beautiful from the outside as you approach from the sidewalk. We made reservations and were quickly seated when we arrived. Dan was our waiter and he stated that he was new. Nice man. Very personable and warm. The room we were in however was the opposite and we had to keep our coats on to maintain our body heat. We ordered our meals and waited a long time BUT the wait was worth it as the meals were outstanding. I had crab cakes and my wife had Chicken. Both well prepared and plentiful. I rated this place a 3 star because it seemed like the service was disorganized and out of sync. The manager came around to each table to each but skipped ours. That hurt my fragile feelings but really it did kinda made us ask why. Perhaps he didn’t see us with our winter Parkas still on. The tables were cramped in each room which made those rooms loud. The wine my wife ordered was not the brand they represented. She knows her wine. Trust me. I think in time they will get their act together. They are still new. We will come back in a few months. Hopefully then they have made several corrections.

This restaurant is a little small for the amount of tables they tried to stuff into it. The food is great, but the portions are small and the price is high. The menu is limited, with not a lot of options. They are just starting out so they may still be working out the kinks. I really didn’t like how close the tables are to each other. I almost had to get up to let the server through with the food for another table. I had higher hopes and may return later on after they have ironed out some of the new business issues I believe they are having.

We had the pleasure of visiting this establishment last evening with some local friends. At first appearance, the restaurant is in a beautifully restored home. The welcome upon arrival was very pleasant and even food runners bringing food from the kitchen greeted us. If this continues this place has customer service perfected. We were seated promptly and our server(Charles) was pretty darn amazing too. The bread for the table was something we had never seen but tasty(4 small bread balls). We all ordered a different entrée and we we were pretty excited by our choices. Our server informed us before delivering our entrees that the Chef was not happy with the chicken and was making another… great quality control. I had the duck and never in my life has it been so perfectly prepared. Our other entrees were crab cakes, roasted chicken and steak… each were perfect. The prices of the food were not bad at all for what I would considered fine dining. My old gripe if I have to have one was the drink prices. We dine in NYC often and the martinis were a bit higher than NYC prices. Great Job guys at opening such a fine establishment and the pride and care shows through. I would recommend this place 100%. Keep up the good work and we will see you in a few weeks when we are in town.

ot quite ready for prime time. 6 of us went for brunch today. This was the first Sunday that brunch was served. Our waiter Josh we very polite and friendlly. However through staff needs some training and supervision if the restaurant is going to be a go to place. We were immediately seated in an upstairs room which was quite nice. The window had visible writing g on it through the dirt on the outside. The table had a 3 piece place setting of flatware. A four piece place setting with teaspoon would have been appropriate. There were spots on the flatware. Need to run them through the dishwasher again. Our drinks and wine came promptly. However when we asked for coffee one person got a saucer with the coffee cup and the rest of us did not. Mr. Johnson needs to let his staff know that coffee cups have saucers coffee mugs do not. Our waiter was not sure about the type of sausage was offered or was some of the ingredients were in the dishes. This is management’s responsibility to educate the wait staff. The food arrived after 35 minutes. The food was hot and good. Our waiter was attentive and asked us several times if we wanted or needed anything goes else. When the bill came there were 2 items that were incorrect but the bill was easily fixed. I would go back but probably after several months when some of the«kinks» are worked out. There were people waiting when we left. The kitchen needs to become more efficient and the wait staff need some education. If you are going to charge higher prices for an «upscale restaurant you need a bit more polish.

Worst experience ever. Hopefully. Just growing pains. Servers gracious but 2 hours later. we don’t have dinner and are hearing excuses and hearing apologies. Wait til kinks are out at these prices.

Exceptional hospitality by owners and staff. The shrimp and grits appetizer was so good I wanted it as my entire entrée. My husband had the pork chop which he said was perfection. The menu selection is a delight. There is something for everyone and each dish has a unique flair. Atmosphere is romantic and impressive. We will definitely be back and will probably end up being regulars here. Great to have such an upscale place without the upscale price tag in our small town. The town has been longing for a place like this.
