Came here with friends after work. Great customer service from the waitresses to the managers. The food comes out quick and the margaritas are strong! They will sneak up on you. I had the west village /village margarita. For dinner I had the chicken tacos and queso. The food is good and the interior is cute. Will be back again.

I had the Amingo Tinga Tacos, which were very good, although the rice and beans were a bit flat; but loved loved the tacos… plus the staff was very friendly. First time here and certainly will be.

Food and service is always great here! Tito the manager is so nice. You have to try their guacamole, it is to die for! They make it right in front of you table side. I’m a vegan so I was impressed with their veggie menu. Give this place a try, it’s worth your while!

5 Stars easy!!! Zama is now my go-to Mexican restaurant! The food is delicious and flavorful. The drinks are perfectly blended and balanced. There is live music and the décor and ambiance is nice! The manager is handsome, helpful, has a great personality and the bonus… can dance! Lol!!! The guacamole made table side is a nice touch I haven’t seen many places. Loved it! You gotta come try it!

Zama is a delightful Latin style restaurant in Vinings off Atlanta road in the West village Highland apartment complex. It is pretty new and it is a great addition to the area. My boyfriend and I came in on a week night and sat inside. We were seated immediately and our server was fantastic. They are very attentive with their fresh chips and salsa. We were little pigs that night and ended up having 3 baskets of chips! Eeek, but they were so delicious, and they kept bringing them, it was amazing. They salsa is SOOOOOOO fresh and delicious, I would drink it if I could. We shared the fajitas, shrimp, chicken and steak. The shrimp tasted like it was frozen before, but the chicken and steak were good. Overall it was a great experience and we’ll for sure be back!

I had the carnita quesadilla and it was good. My husband had the fried chicken tacos and they were good too. The fries were really crispy. The wait staff was very nice and professional. And, the patio area was really nice and relaxing especially on a Friday after work. I had the mango Margarita and it was just ok. I forgot what drink my husband had but it had Patron in it, but it was just ok as well. They were not that strong. And, my mango flavor could have been«turned» up a bit. I think we will try it again… but we will have beers next time.

Have been here a few times now and the service gets slower and slower. For quick casual mexican, it can sometimes take almost an hour and a half just to get a drink and food. Servers don’t seem as friendly or excited to be there. Food is still consistent but the service should be reevaluated

Wait, I haven’t written a review for this yet? Gotta fix that. This is the third Mexican restaurant in this location, so I’m hoping third time is a charm. So far, so good… Let’s start with Taco Tuesday: $ 2.29 per taco, as well as $ 3.25 house margaritas. How can you go wrong with that? My absolute favorite is the cucumber margarita. It’s the perfect summer drink. The food is probably some of the better Mexican in the area. It’s somewhere in between Nuevo Laredo and your standard Mexican restaurant. So far, everything I’ve had here was delicious and the prices were reasonable. My absolute favorite dish are the shrimp tacos. The tacos are huge and the whole dish is refreshing and I feel like I’m eating healthy(I’m probably not, but at least I have the impression like I am). :-) Service is solid from what I’ve experienced so far, although, every time I’ve been here, we had to wait a little while to be seated. I will definitely be back and I hope this place sticks in this location!

I was in the mood for Mexican and decided to stop by Zama to give it a try. The space is large and nicely appointed. I went for a late lunch and so it wasn’t too busy. The chips and salsa that were served were pretty good. Nice crispy chips and a flavorful salsa. I ordered the lunch fajitas with skirt steak. They came out hot and sizzling and full of green peppers and onions along with a few red bells as well. I wanted my steak medium well and it came out more done than I requested. However, it was well seasoned and juicy and I enjoyed it. The amount of onions and peppers against the four strips of steak made me want to feel as if I had been slighted, but I resisted the urge. My meal came with the requisite rice, beans, and lettuce and tomato combo. I also tasted the chicken Chimichanga. I have to say that it was just okay. The chicken lacked something essential(maybe a bit of spice and more seasoning, perhaps). I enjoyed myself a small strawberry margarita, which I thought was fine. The service was also fine. There was plenty of parking at lunch time, but I can see it being an issue later in the evening. The restaurant sits underneath apartments and shares the lot with other businesses. Overall, Zama gets an A-OK for now. I will probably be back to try more items on the menu and also the cucumber Margarita.

Updated Review: Decided to give this place another try and was glad the service was much better the second time around. The waiters and waitresses were attentive and came by every now and then to check on us. The food is still average, but prices are reasonable. We haven’t had any of their alcoholic beverages yet, but they all look delicious! Glad this place is doing better!

The bartenders always get my food order wrong and then they disappear 10 to 20 minute at a time, and it’s loud because of the public noise but their music is not loud enough. However, the food is good, the managers make sure things get corrected and ate very friendly. I love the campestre salad.

I visited Zama for my birthday lunch(Noon on a Sunday) with the kiddies and overall had a good time(however, I would have been disappointed if this were the only thing I did for my birthday). The staff was friendly and attentive by they could have used more wait staff, our waitress was also our bar tender. The food was good. Atlanta has a ton of Mexican restaurants and the ones in the City blow Zama out of the water. I have not been to any of the Mexican restaurants in Smyrna/Vinings so I can’t compare it to the immediate area. Pros: — friendly hostess and wait staff — each child received their own balloon animal(very nice touch) — reasonable prices — chips and salsa were yummy!(It’s easy to get full on chips and salsa but that defeats the point. Cons: — drinks — my virgin strawberry daiquiri/piña cola mix was not good — we waited forever for our food — they need more wait staff to ensure drinks are topped off timely and patrons are checked on regularly Since Zama is close by, I will be back. If you want some of the best Mexican in Atlanta, I don’t think it’s in Smyrna.

A couple of friends and I went here on «National Margarita Day» a few weeks ago. My friends had dined here before, but this was my first experience. The food was good(we all had their fresh tableside guacamole and chicken fajitas), but they were understaffed for the number of customers they had that evening. The wait to get drinks was ridiculous, and a couple of the drinks didn’t quite taste right — like they hadn’t gotten mixed quite right. The manager came over to our table and gave us a complimentary round of tequila shots to make up for the slow service and odd tasting drinks, and that’s why I’m giving them a better review than one or two stars — he didn’t have to do that, and the gesture was appreciated.

Amazing… I have been wanting to try this restaurant for ages. I drive by everyday on the way to dropping the dog off at K-8 Coach. From the minute we walked in the service was fantastic. I don’t know how many people on the wait staff etc. ask us how we were doing. As for the food it was fantastic. The presentation was fantastic. I love the little guacamole and sour cream bowls made out of tortilla chips. I ordered what the waiter suggested and it was great. I forgot what it was called but it was the steak platter with a chesse enchilada. Again let me use that word it was fantastic. My dinner partner had something with a Chile Relleno and she loved it. She usually complains about everything so this was a nice switch. We each had the Margarita special for $ 5.99. I could have had a few more but it was a school night.(good excuse. I highly recommend this place for authentic Mexican food. You guys out did yourselves. ” I WILLBEBACK ”

Ventured to Zama for the first time last night for a date with my husband. There was a little mix up at the hostess stand so we ended up fitting at a high top in the bar area but it was nice. Our server was extra friendly and helpful, as well as attentive. I do feel like we were in and out of there really quickly, but didn’t feel like I was being rushed at the time. The chips and salsa are delicious! Chips remind me of la Parilla which are our favorite! House Margarita on the rocks was very very good. Husband had the tampiquena steak and I had Verde enchiladas. Both were really good. The enchiladas were a bit sour, maybe too much lime? But I still ate every last bit. My husband loved his but wished there was more enchilada sauce. I can’t wait to try more on the menu, especially some of the specials and the cheese dip! Will be back

The manager was kind enough to invite my boyfriend and I back to give us a better experience at Zama. The manager Tito and our server Sergio were very hospitable & gave us great service. My boyfriend tried the carne asada tacos and I had a grilled chicken quesadilla w onions and peppers, which we both enjoyed. The quesadilla is so big it could probably be shared between 2 people– the ingredients were plentiful and tasty. We also got to try the soapapilla and it was delicious and flaky! I’d probably put the food at 3.5 stars but their willingness to reach out at customers and their eagerness to improve puts them at a 4. I have faith that as they become more established their food and service will continue to improve.

Nice addition to Smyrna’s(small) dining scene. The salsa could be better, but my husband enjoyed his enchiladas and I enjoyed my shrimp soup. I’m not going to make my friends drive OTP for this place but I’d totally go on a Friday night. Friendly service.

Let me tell you about this AMAZING experience my friends and I had here at this restaurant! We originally arrived to McCray’s and had the worst experience at first hand so we left to Zamas and how great was it?! Absolutely amazing! It was so packed and not only one manager but two of them were running around trying to help the flow of the restaurant go smoothly. Our wait time was going to be more than thirty minutes so we decided to walk around and see what it was all about. We met«Tito» who is the main manager and his service was phenomenal! Even though he was extremely busy he took the time to talk with us and also ensure we were comfortable while we waited. He personally brought us Tequila Martinis while we waited for our table. They’ve only been open 3 months and they are still poppin! It only took us one drink then we were immediately sat and greeted by this wonderful gentleman by the name of LaLo. He had a great sense of humor and was very attentive! When it came down to ordering, the food was the cherry on top with this experience. Not only did we have an amazing time, the food was great and the drinks were even better! If you have not been here yet and live in the Atlanta area, i HIGHLY suggest you take a trip to this place and get ready to enjoy yourself! I will definitely be back for more! Thank you Tito for ensuring that not only my party but that the entire place was filled with satisfaction!

I visited Zama last Sunday evening with a friend and left feeling a bit disappointed in the overall experience. I wanted so badly to like this place. I love love love Mexican food and was excited that there was a place in my neighborhood with such great ratings and reviews. However, I didn’t have the experience that most seemed to have. Pros — Great location, ambiance, plenty of seating, nice staff Cons– 1. I found hair in my queso! The waiter apologized and offered another but I declined. I figured ok that’s gross but it could happen anywhere so I’ll stick around and try something else. So I ordered chicken enchiladas with a side of rice and beans… 2. I bit into a sizable chicken bone in my enchilada! At that point I was pretty over it. The food wasn’t that incredible that I could overlook both of those things, so I probably won’t return.

This has become in a favorite in the lunch rotation. Food quality is high and price is a great value. Have not veered off of the lunch menu — but can attest to consistently strong presentation and great taste. As a bonus the service is very accommodating and super friendly. Worth a try!

Don’t you ever get super excited when you hear that sizzling sound as it quickly approaches your table at a Mexican restaurant? If you do, does it increase substantially as the skillet is placed in front of you, with the steam and aromas ferociously filling the air? Of course it does! Throw in a table side guacamole prep and I’m sure your level of excitement has surpassed the stratosphere. Since moving to Smyrna from Atlanta, I hoped that I’d find an alternative to my favorite Mexican restaurant, Uncle Julio’s. If you haven’t been, you should check it out, it’s worth the trip and the price! Now I say all of that to say this: I can say with exuberant confidence that Zama’s is a worthy alternative. Now I can drive 3 miles instead of 10! Once you walk into Zama, you’ll notice the artistic touches to the environment, as well as the warm atmosphere. It’s spot on and can easily encourage anyone to stay longer. I haven’t been to a whole lot of Mexican cuisine restaurants but I have to say that this one is very beautiful. Management: You may have seen my head nods of satisfaction as I entered the restaurant! Now that’s out of the way, on to the food. In reference to the first paragraph, I’m sure you know which dish I was referring to. You got it, Fajitas! I love me some Fajitas. At Zama, they have«Texas Fajitas,» which is comprised of all three meats, chicken, steak and shrimp. You can definitely choose them individually but I prefer all three. Yeah, I guess I get a little greedy sometimes. lol It was no surprise to me based on the aromas that the meat would be cooked to perfection. The seasoning was just right, and I savored each bite. The flour tortillas were warm, very soft and tasted fresh. Also, this was the first time that I ate all of the peppers and onions in the skillet, it was that good. Without hesitation, I can easily say that these fajitas were absolutely fantastic. Queso or Guacamole? Yep, that was the small dilemma I had at the table. If you ever had table side preparation of Guacamole, then you know nothing gets more fresher than that. And based on that fact alone, that became the deciding factor. No surprise here either, it was excellent! Mad kudos to our server, I appreciated the time and effort he took in making it because I totally suck as peeling avocados. Not only did he provide excellent service, he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Speaking of service, no lie, this place gets it right. We were consistently checked on, our drinks never got below halfway and our basket of chips were always full. The manager even checked on us a few times! So all in all? Love it here! So happy Zama is around the corner, I’ll definitely be coming here often.

Date: Sunday Dinner January 16′ Zama is a brand new Mexican restaurant in the Smyrna-Vinnings area. I was looking forward to trying out a new Mexican place, especially, one that has a variety of Mexican liquors. I tried a few items. CHILIESDIVORCIADOS and the FISHTACOS(Food); Cucumber Margarita and the flavored margarita(Guava) It is to soon to give this place an accurate review, when I have only eaten there once. I am looking forwarded to trying more items. I think this place is credible, I wish that they would start using better products, organic vegetables, free-range chicken and grass-fed beef. Perhaps if they did this, the price would sky rocket. This place is a a cross between Nuevo Laredo Cantina, Superica and Taco Bell.

I am a foodie! I love trying new places and of course having tasty experiences– My honey and I went here and it was really good! I had the fajita and hubs had an enchilada– the food was hot and tasty I don’t drink alcohol, but heard the margaritas are divine– I did however order a slushie and THAT was exceptional :) The wait staff was friendly and the atmosphere is laid back– we will be back– If you are in the Vinings area — try it out!

I am picky. Very picky. And I don’t mean like, «I want my food a certain way» picky.(But I’m that too.) So if my experience at a restaurant isn’t great for whatever that restaurant is trying to be(see my Hot Dog Factory review), they don’t get 4 stars. And forget five. No way. Zama gets 5 stars. In every way. Great food. Excellent portions. Always split an order, then order more if you need to.(You won’t need to.) Attractive, comfortable décor. And despite their excellent and vast menu, just tell them what you want and they will make it for you without gouging you on price. And perhaps best of all, absolutely the most sincere, attentive service I’ve ever received in any Atlanta restaurant. Every other time a Mexican startup tried to make it in this corner of West Village(I remember three) failed miserably, and boy did they deserve to. Zama will thrive. Even if i have to take my family there 10 times a week… which now that I say it out loud wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

I absolutely loved this place! I visit my sister at least once a month in ATL and I haven’t found good Mexican food until now!!! They made our guacamole table side and it was delicious. We also had queso which was good! My sister had a veggie burrito and I had chicken quesadillas. Both were awesome! We topped it off with a brownie dessert and we were not disappointed! The staff was SOOO friendly and very welcoming. Absolutely will return here! Oh and their margaritas are strong and amazing!!!

This spot is great for an evening out for high quality Mexican food. If you love Las Bravos in Smyrna, this is the spot you go when you want higher scale of dining experience.(Not a knock to to them, but just different scene). I recommend the Texas fajitas and the West Village margarita! Also the staff is extremely friendly, which is instilled by the management!
