cool store, they pack in a lot of things are you might need and tony is awesome. beef jerky is good and lots of cold drinks

DONOTRENTSKI/SNOWBOARD EQUIPMENTHERE! I realize that 10.99 a day is a bargain but you get what you pay for. The equipment is old, worn and defective. The younger guy that helped my group of three was really nice, but when we was checking out my 7 year olds snowboard he said to make sure the binding was on the last notch or it would not hold. It turned out that the binding did not hold at all! My son is 7 so he only lasts about 4 hours on the slopes and half way through our day I realized that his binding would not lock in place at all. When I took it to the guy rental guy at Boreal he said that there was nothing he could do to fix the binding and that the person that rented it to me should have been paying attention. My son was already upset that I took him off the mountain for even 10 minutes to check out the binding. So I had to decide, do we pack it up and take it back to the general store or do I just rent a board at boreal and keep on snowboarding. I ended up just renting a board at boreal. When we got back to the hotel that night I called the general store and the older guy answered. When I told him what happened he was completely rude and unapologetic and said that unless we returned the board before 9am the next day he would still charge us for the day. Considering that our hotel was 30 minutes away from the general store we would have to get a pretty early start to make it there. I decided to just return the board on our way out of town the next day in the afternoon. When I returned the board I tried to show the older guy what was wrong with the board. Anyone with half way decent customer service would have at the very least offered a «sorry that happened», or maybe even a refund since my son couldn’t even use the board. But no, this guy was rude and nasty to me and wouldn’t even look at the binding. He told me over and over again with an attitude that I should have just brought it back to him. I told him more than once that it should have never been rented out in the first place in this condition. Then he told me «Sorry you wasted your time, have a good day» in a really nasty tone. What he meant was, this conversation is over and get out of my store. I would warn everyone from renting here. You will end up having to choose between wasting your time driving back to return defective equipment or just eating the money. I would tell you to rent ANYWHERE but here!

Have to come here. A true general store for the one store town. The couple that own the place are great. I’ve been buying things from Tony for years now. The sandwiches they make are also super good. Stop by. Get a drink. Grab a sandwich and say hi. You’ll love it.

Best place to get supplies food and drink if climbing or recreating on th summit. Sandwiches, nice collection of beer and wine and everything you’d expect from a country store.

Absolutely horrible. I almost never write reviews, but my recent experience compels me to do so. I am posting this review on Facebook as well so my friends are aware of how horrible this was. I get that some folks who live nearby may not have many options(we are lucky we live closer to Truckee and have lots more options), but this place is horrible. And I mean horrible. First off, the place is a bit dirty and disorganized. Things seems to be somewhat randomly scattered around the interior which is dimly lit and not inviting at all. Second, and much more importantly the staff(Cheryl, who sounds nice based on the other posts was not there on the day we were there) are absolutely among the rudest and least helpful people I have ever seen. There was an older gentleman with a beard and a younger fellow, both of whom were worse than worthless in terms of customer service. Here is our story. We went in as a family of 5 hoping to get some deli sandwiches as we hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and were hungry. In general, I like these kind of funky places so I knew what to expect and thought it would be fine. Boy was I wrong. When we went in, we were the only ones in the store. As we passed the counter the younger guy did not even look up. When we asked him where we could find some juice for the kids, he kind of waved towards the back without looking up. We found the juice under some nasty looking plastic cover over the fridge and walked back to the front to get our food. We made our way over to where it seemed like the sandwiches would be made over on the right and waited for a couple minutes but nobody moved a muscle to help(remember, there was nobody else in the store). At this point, apparently the shift change was in effect as the older guy with a beard was now at the counter and we went back over and asked where we should go for sandwiches. He said, back over there where you were, on the left-hand side of the deli fridge thing. So we went back … and I am not making this up — we waiting another few minutes with these two jokers sitting about 20 feet away not moving a muscle. After about 2 – 3 more minutes(again, we were the only ones in the store) there was still no movement. So we put our drinks back and walked out. Here is the kicker — on my way out I mentioned to the older guy that it seemed like poor customer service for them to have two people there and not serve their only customers. I am not making this next part up — he looked right at me and said«get out and never come back’. I have no idea if there is somebody else out there who looks lot like me and regularly kicks this guy’s dog or something but I had never seen him before in my life so I have no idea why he was treating our family(including 3 young kids) this way. I asked him what I did wrong and he said I was a jerk. Personally, I don’t think I am, but even if I was he would have had no way of knowing it — he never took the time to talk to us! He literally laughed as we left and the door hit my son in the back(the door is seriously odd — with a strange wooden duck pulley system in place). I have NEVER, EVER been treated like this anywhere else on the planet. I cannot say in strong enough terms how much you should avoid this place. To recap — seemingly unsanitary conditions, disorganized shelves, and the rudest staff ever. Unless you are stuck in a snowstorm, you should go somewhere else. Anywhere else would be better even if you need to drive an extra 10 – 20 minutes. Cheryl — If you read this, you are only as good as your worst employee. Check your time cards and figure out who was working today — those guys are costing you business!!!

We were staying at Sugarbowl and the roads were packed with snow. We made down to this store for some basics and found they had a lot of stuff for such a small place. I wouldn’t a lot of choices for dinner cookin’, but lot’s of food, juices etc and a huge selection of wine for where we were! A ton of basics like boots, caps, gloves, etc… I plan on going to Sugarbowl a lot, so I am very glad to have this place.

I love this store! Its a must everytime I head up the hill to go skiing. You walk in and instantly feel like your with friends. The owner Cheryl is personable and will bend over backwards to give you the best customer service possible. They make a fantastic fresh deli sandwich with all the fixings. The store is fully stocked with fresh produce, ski gear, candy, beer & wine and all the grocery items you will need. You can rent equipment for a great price and they will custom your fit to your experience level and comfort zone. This is a must stop.
