I came around 1:00PM to order lunch and unfortunately they ran out of rice for their teriyaki chicken and korean bbq plate lunches. They did however, make it a salad but it just wasn’t the same without the rice. Overall, the meats were tasty.

Fast and friendly staff. Variety of selection and very delicious. I recommend the chipotle chicken sandwich

I found this place to be a very average sandwich joint, nothing special. I got sandwiches a few days ago from T Deli in Hillcrest and those were like 10x better than what I got here. It is a very small space – almost looks more like an office or house that was turned into a little deli. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

Pretty good sandwiches and plates for much lower prices than I am used to seeing these days. I ordered a Thai chicken wrap and a Korean bbq plate. Both of them were good — much better than I expected, because the ambiance was less than appealing, and because they were so cheap. I also bought two cookies, which were incredibly good and only cost 75 cents for two. If I lived closer, I would come here all the time. I recommend it.

Five stars for the food. Two stars for the ambiance. I guess that leaves them with a four over all. I had lunch at Annie’s yesterday as it had received some fine reviews on Unilocal. One reviewer even said that the sandwiches were«spectacular», which is a pretty strong statement if you ask me! I ordered the French Connection, which was turkey breast, Swiss cheese, remoulade, bacon, deli mustard, tomato, and lettuce on a French roll. I asked for the French roll to be toasted. The cheese is melted onto the turkey, which works out better than it sounds. The sandwich was excellent. $ 6.99 The French roll was very fresh — crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Exactly how you want a French roll to be! I’m not sure where they get these rolls, but they are perfect. The turkey breast was moist and succulent. Full of flavor. They get all of their meats and cheeses from Boar’s Head, one of the better purveyors of deli products. Annie’s Café Deli needs a remodel. There’s only a couple of tables inside and a few more outside. This place is better suited for takeaway. Regardless, there’s a number of things they could do to spiff the place up. The split black curtain between the food preparation area and the register is awkward and should be removed. I recommend they repaint the inside. The bleak white interior makes the placing actually seem smaller than it is. With a little bit of attention to detail, and the removal of some clutter, this place could be a «spectacular» place to grab a quick lunch.

My Tomcado with spicy mayo for $ 7.25 was surprisingly delish. It had roasted turkey, Vermont cheddar, avocado, lettuce & tomato with spicy mayo. Funny thing is I actually wanted the Eden gardens sandwich, but had trouble communicating with the staff and somehow ended up with the wrong sandwich. The confusion started when I asked what is Romoulade Mayo, which is right on their paper menu and on the board on the wall. They had no idea what I was asking and couldn’t answer the question. They offered regular or spicy Mayo so I said yes to spicy mayo. It’s very tasty! The staff understood about half of my questions. But they tried. The lady was friendly. If you use their bathroom, you’ll find it’s less than reassuring, and needs a cleaning and a refurbishment. With some TLC this could be the most popular deli in the area! They use Boar’s head meats, and their sandwiches are all under $ 8. Owner needs to make sure the staff understands the entire menu, or else the owner needs to update the menu. This little café could be cute if the owner does some decorating and tidying up. There’s just no atmosphere at all. I’m hoping that Annie’s has a whole new vibe the next time I stop by. I recommend you give them a try if you are nearby. The hubs loved his sandwich too, but agreed they need to work on the ambience.

I was headed North up I-5 and called Terri… she was in Solana Beach Shopping… I said I’ll pull off there and buy you Lunch… she says… where do you want to go… I told her to Unilocal it… and call me back I was in heavy traffic. She called back and said let’s do «Annie’s Café Deli»… it has good reviews. So I plugged it into the gps and it came up as Annie’s Cornucopia… but it was the correct address… so off I went :-) The Parking Lot is really crowded… the perfect place for a fender bender… but we both found spots. I had their Rachel… Sounded and looked … and tasted like a Reuben :-) In fact the best Reuben I’ve had in a long long time. Beautifully prepared and Excellent Pastrami and Sauerkraut… with just enough tangy Thousand Island Dressing… I loved it. Terri had the Tom Cado on Sourdough … un toasted… and said it was spectacular too. The turkey was excellent… not slimy paper thin aka turkey. The young guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful… the sandwiches came out instantly… and they have free Wi-Fi… So we check emails… and had a great lunch. Will definitely keep this one on the go to list.

I can see where many people view this place as great but in comparison to everything else thats out there, this place is ok. Dont get me wrong the sandwich i ate was good but being this was their most popular sandwich i couldnt imagine how the other sandwiches would measure up. The sandwich was a turkey combination with chipotle mayo, avocado, lettuce, tomato and mustard. Went with sourdough bread that was toasted enough for the bread to retain its fresh doughy property. The service was good, really nice fellow who made my sandwich in no time but i just get over the fact that the place has great product like boars head but the sandwich combination is just ok. No win or loss if you visit this place but again ill say theres other places to spend $ 9 bucks on a sandwich.

GREAT sandwiches, friendly employees, everything just tastes fresh. I’m only taking off 1 star because they’re a little overpriced the sandos don’t come with chips or anything, and it’s around 8 bucks.

Sandwich was good but I think it’s overpriced. 7.25 is just too much for what it was. Get some chips and a drink, you’re over 10. Decent food though

My wife and I have been to Annie’s multiple times for breakfast sandwiches and lunch to take to the beach. We always feel appreciated, attended to, and get great service all around. The sandwiches are very fresh and tasty and even when we go with the healthy options(wheat bread, mustard not mayo, etc.), we really enjoy what we’ve gotten. I’d really give them 4 ½ stars because I’m a tough nut to crack but 4 is just too low. So, if you always got to Rudy’s across the parking lot for lunch(yes, they’re great too), give Annie’s a shot one day.

Just paid $ 8.00 for a turkey blt sandwich which was inedible. AFTER specifically asking for«light mayo and mustard» the sandwich was drenched in them. Don’t know if I’ll be going back again — at least not for a long while if at all.

Have to amend my review since the service and food has improved. The key I think is to never go to this Deli when the owners are away — the hired help must have supervision at all times.

Annie’s Café Deli is awesome! It is my absolute favorite place to go around the Stevens Ave area. Unlike Panera, they have healthy options. The food is always fresh and make anything exactly as I ask and like it. I highly recommend it.

I almost feel bad giving them such a low review(I rarely give 1 or 2 star-reviews) but I am just so disappointed! I ordered the half sandwich and salad combo. He asked if I wanted it toasted. Yes. He asked what dressing I wanted. Ranch. After about 15 minutes(Really? 15 minutes? There was only 1 other person ahead of me and there were 3 people working in the back!) I got my order. I walked back to my office(only about a block away), only to find that(a) No dressing for my salad. I am not a rabbit, I need some flavor with my vegetables! and(b) my bread was SO not toasted! It really wasn’t worth it to walk back for it, so I guess I’ll just have to make do with what’s in the office. I say… with the unnecessary wait and forgetting both my dressing and toasting my bread… three strikes in one visit and you’re out!!! I guess I could say that the ingredients were pretty fresh… so that’s what the 2 stars are for. :T

Great lunch place: fresh, decently priced, generous servings. My favorite mom’n’pop sandwich place in the area. The Place– Small, most people grab lunch to go. Inside and outside seating available, it’s nice sitting in the Solana Beach sun! Parking lot is terrible though. Regulars are all friendly and familiar! The Service– Run by a family of Korean women… VERY sweet and friendly, bit of an accent, not always tech savvy… Just found out today the lady owner/woman who always works there moved to LA… so we’ll see about the newbies :( The Food– Not AWESOME, but very good! Fresh soft bread, generous toppings on the sandwiches, nothing’s ever soggy or old. Great for running in to pick up lunch or breakfast. Th and Fr they have Korean food, too :) Recommended– Try anything on their French Roll! I love the French Connection, though the Tomcado and California Deluxe are good, too.

Five stars for a few reasons: 1. They make your sandwich just how you want it… add what you want, take off what you want… they always make it perfect. 2. The lady who owns it is so sweet 3. I never see it crowded in here and it seems unknown. I love supporting local businesses like this one. The lady who owns it(Annie?) seems like she really cares about you. I love all the health articles posted around the shop. I get a turkey sandwich with avo on a croissant. Seriously try out this little gem and you will not be disappointed. If you pick what’s on a sandwich, and the ingredients are fresh, how can it be bad?

Oh man the Tom Cado on wheat was EXACTLY what I needed for my bad mood today. I have never had a bad sandwich from Annies. Fresh ingredients, simple combinations, and quality. This little sandwich shop always delivers and I would have a cage match with a bear to have another sandwich from here. Good thing I don’t have too. The Tom Cado is a favorite in my office at the Fairgrounds. With turkey, tomato, lettuce, sprouts, and the most amazing avocado you are to find anywhere. The avocado was so thick I was able to scrape some off my sandwich with my accompanying bbq chips and still have a great sammmie. Not only that, the gal always remember you when you come in. The kind of place where if you have a bad meal, she is going to take it personally and have a bad day until she can make it up to you. I have seen it. Always brings a smile to my face entering the deli and the personal touch is worth the price alone. Good thing the food is scrumptious too. Call ahead by 5 minutes and your food will be waiting for you.

Annie’s is the greatest! Fresh, high-quality ingredients. She won’t serve un-ripe tomatoes, mushy avocados, or stale bread. My favorite, well, the only thing I ever order: The Tomcado on wheat, NO mayo. You’d think a sandwich w/o some sort of dressing would be dry. Nope. Not the Tomcado. It’s fabulous and I could eat one every day. Crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, excellent quality & finely sliced turkey breast, paper thin cheese slice and generous helping of avocado. THEBOMB! Also, very personal service. You go in twice and she’ll remember you. She’s just that kind of business person, and that’s the kind of place I want to spend my food dollars. Why eat at a chain sandwich place when you can eat here?!? As John K. mentioned, Rudy’s Taco Shop and Bongiorno’s NY Pizzeria share the same parking lot and are worth checking out too.
