This is the best Thai restaurant I have ever been too. Truly gourmet Thai good.

EXCEPTIONAL! This place has found the combination: great food; outstanding service; very nice ambiance; fair prices; convenient parking! Been there twice, so far(we’re winter visitors from out of state) and have loved it Everything was excellent, but the Tom Kha is worthy of special mention. It is out of this world. We appreciated a couple of little niceties from management, as well. Overall dining experience definitely surpasses Bangkok Bay.

I’ve ordered from here numerous time and have commended this restaurant for if punctuality. However tonight when I arrived home I figured after a long day I would order in and I’m informed that they don’t deliver anything exceeding their 3 mile radius. I live 2.8 miles away it is a 9 minute drive. But to illustrate why I will never order from here again she was able to find my account in the system and still refused to take my order. You blew it P. S. If you’re reading this don’t reach out to me that’s just desperate.

We were amazed to walk into our new neighborhood and discover a whole new adventure in taste. The space has been transformed to a chic modern Thai environment. The wide-ranking menu we were to discover has a lot of depth too. My husband’s spicy chili fish and my own panang curry were superb as was our masaman curry special. The coconut shrimp appetizer was unsurpassed in our experience. The server was attentive but not intrusive. We give it a thumbs up all around. Welcome to the neighborhood, Similan!

Probably the best Thai Restaurant i have ever been to. Great atmosphere, Great Service and above all Great Food. A little on the expensive side for Thai, but worth it.

Very good food. Best Thai food I’ve had in Coastal North County. We will be back often. Update after our second visit, which consisted of a group of 8: EVERYONE said the food was outstanding. Service is a bit scattered, and food came out in bits and pieces, but there were several large groups.

I drove by this place a couple of times and have always wanted to try it, so last night I went with my cousin for dinner. I love thai food and this place makes an amazing Cry Tiger Steak dish which is my favorite! The crispy coconut shrimp is so good, and prepared perfectly! The staff is extremely friendly and professional! Definitely will be back!

LOVELOVELOVE! I have been here a few times now and it has always been amazing! Super authentic as well. My family lived in Thailand for a long time, so I know what I’m talking about. The service was great, food is so tasty. If your looking for real thai food and a beautiful restaurant eat here. :)

I honestly think that this is one of the best Thai restaurants that I’ve visited in San Diego. Ever since Similan opened earlier this year, I’ve had it on my to-do list of places to try. My boyfriend and I finally gave it a go a couple of weekends ago and we were both impressed. My beef pad see ew, which is my standard Thai dish that I order to compare, was absolutely delicious. The beef was tender, the noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce was just right. If I had a bigger stomach, I could have happily eaten the entire thing. Alas, I’m a light eater but that just means more leftovers for me! The Thai tea was perfect and gave me enough of an energy boost to work until nearly 3 in the morning. Yay for caffeine highs! My boyfriend thought his green curry was pretty good too. I must applaud the waiter as well. Not only did he do a wonderful job with us, but he put up with the rude table sitting next to us with more respect than they likely deserved. I despise when people talk down to the waiters and act like it’s their fault. If something isn’t right, feel free to tell them but do it nicely. I felt the need to be extra nice to our waiter to make up for all the crap the other table was giving him. Similan is a little pricier than other Thai restaurants in the area but it’s worth the couple extra dollars. Give it a try!

The most authentic thai in town. They use fresh ingredients and do not take shortcuts to get the best flavor one of the owners described to me. You can tell. Tom Ka soup is by far the best around, citrusy and fresh and full of flavor. All the other dishes we tried were excellent and best in class. Spice comes medium unless you specify different, so make sure you tell them if you need it mild. Some dishes can be made gluten free(the menu is not comprehensive on this) and you must request it, which they happily accomodated for us. Very nice and clean atmosphere. Super awesome lunch prices too! EATHERE so they will get busy and never ever close down, because selfishly, I would rather have to wait for a table then lose access to this fabulous thai so close to home.

I saw Similan Thai Restaurant appear where Sam’s Place used to be in Solana Beach and I thought to myself, «I hope their food is good because the location is a little tough.» Fortunately, their food is good and they are worth sharing with others. My wife and I have been five times and we will go back. I had the Pan-fried seafood combination twice and every item was perfectly cooked, swimming in the egg and curry base and tasting fresh and delicious. We’ve also had the pan-seared duck, Thai style chicken and the spicy chili fish and each of them was something to savor. The Thai fresh rolls have a nice crunch, robust flavor and delectable plum sauce. The servers here care. The Thai iced tea was delicious, they have Samuel Smith’s IPA in bottles, which is a thrill and I really like the interior design including the«wall of giant tropical fish» and the decorative white, cut out panels. When I had some comments to offer about my experience, the owner came right out and listened to my feedback(and compliments). Similian is a new Thai Restaurant that I think should be called Thai Gourmet because that’s what it tastes like to me and I feel lucky to have them right here in Solana Beach.

I came to Similan Thai last week after doing a search on Unilocal for Thai restaurants in the area. This place was new and had good reviews so I decided to give them a call and phone-in my order for pick-up. Well, they never answered the phone so that did not work out – they dont even have an answering machine. I called a few times and gave up. We then decided to drive here and do a sit down dinner. There is one thing we were craving and that was drunken noodles but it wasn’t on the menu. So instead we got something else that sounded like it could be drunken noodles. Forty minutes later(or at least what felt like a very long time) our two dishes finally came out and by this time we were starving! Sadly, the noodles were not what I was hoping for, especially after waiting for so long. The stir fry was ok and their spring rolls were pretty standard. I feel disappointed and let down.

2 stars just for the beautiful interior and design of the restaurant. Everything else about Similan deserves a 1 star for my experience last night. The service was overall terrible, but it started out fine. Our waiter was definitely Thai and hard to understand, but he was friendly. He didn’t listen to orders and messed up on almost everything. He brought out 2 beers instead of 2 Thai iced teas, delivered a noodle dish with shrimp instead of squid, and brought the wrong broth soup. Also, when I asked for a refill on my Thai iced tea, the glass wasn’t even close to full. Now about the food. I am very disappointed with the highly rated Unilocal reviews. I ordered the green curry with steamed tofu because apparently the green curry is really good here. I have a very sensitive stomach and I can’t handle too much spice, so I asked our waiter if the recommended medium spicy would be too spicy for me in my situation and he insisted that it was the best choice. BADDECISION. The curry was indeed flavorful, but it was not even close to worth it. I have had better green curry & the result was not good a few hours later. Let’s just say I had a really rough night… Everyone else’s food was mediocre and all of us agreed that we probably wouldn’t come back. It definitely wasn’t worth the price either.

Love the Pad See Ew and they have great lunch specials that include a salad and pot stickers. This is my go-to place for Thai food in Solana Beach. Not the cheapest place but their food is good and if ordering«to go» it will be ready in the amount of time they say it will — no standing and waiting around after you arrive.

Great new Thai place in Solana Beach! Friendly, quick service, nice ambiance. The food was good – pad see ew and spicy basil fried rice were good sized portions with good flavor. We asked for medium spicy, and it came out just right. The only off note was the calamari appetizer – it didn’t have much flavor and it came out at the same time as our meals, not as an appetizer. We will definitely be back!

I’m a pretty big fan Bangkok Bay Thai considering there aren’t very many good Thai places in the area and a group of us go there for lunch every Tuesday. We heard about this place opening recently and decided to check it out. As it turns out, it is just as good if not a tad bit better than Bankok Bay. The food has a little more flavor and the presentation is nicer. However, their lunch portions tend to be smaller and there is a limited menu for lunch(currently you can not order from the dinner menu during lunch). So far I’ve had the green curry with chicken and the eggplant with scallops. Both of which were great! It’s also nice that the lunches come with soup, salad(with really good peanut dressing) and 2 goyza. I’ll definitely be coming back soon! It’s nice to have another Thai option in the area of equal caliber to Bankok Bay!

They just opened and I’ve been here 4 times already. I’ve got a problem, LOL! I’ve been looking for my favorite Thai food in north county and I found it! The flavors are amazing, they hit all the right spots. Thank you Similan, we welcome you with open arms! Glad to have you guys nearby now. I drive from Carlsbad because you guys make my stomach happy ;) I recommend the salad with the tender beef and spicy lime dressing with onions(I can’t remember the name but it’s on the bottom right side of the ‘starters’ section) Another favorite that I always get here is the Pad Kee Mao with beef. So many flavors, I recommend getting it spicy… The Panang curry with chicken is a favorite also, with white rice to soak up all of that goodness. It’s a clean restaurant, the service is friendly and the pricing is roughly $ 14/entrée. Go try it out and ask for Tanya!

I cannot begin to say how excited I am that we have another restaurant option in Solana Beach. Similan is absolutely incredible. They have gluten free/vegan options and some of the best pad thai I have had in a long time. We came on a Thursday night and were seated right away. The service was good but they were very busy so it took a bit to place our orders and receive our food. Overall, I am so impressed by this restaurant and the quality and freshness of their food. I know that we will for sure be regulars. I cannot wait to go back. We Ordered: Thai Fresh Roll: AMAZING Pad Thai with Veggies: AMAZING Pad Khee Mao Noodles with Chicken: ordered medium and they were super spicy but still really delicious. Pad See Ew with Chicken: AMAZING
