Solana Beach Massages

I scheduled a Friday appointment on Wednesday and the person who took my call asked for all my contact information. I arrived 10 minutes early and waited for 25 minutes after someone in the office greeted me and told me the massage therapist would be with me shortly. Later as he saw me still waiting, he asked me to call her. Apparently no one relayed my appointment time to the massage therapist. Awful customer service and huge waste of my day and time.

I never had a combo Thai/​swedish massage before. It was the best. Never have I left a massage feeling as relaxed as this. I highly recommend this studio. I work a lot of hours each week in an office and despite the yoga that I do, this one hour left me much better off. I will be back.

I am new to the area and kind of randomly ended up at Solana Beach Massages. It was definitely one of the best massages I have ever had. The location is wonderful, close to the beach. The shop is small and personal feeling, and there is parking behind the building, in addition to street parking. Kristie really applied deep pressure and used unique techniques to help my aching back. She also puts her reflexology knowledge to work. I will certainly be back.

Kristie is amazing! Her therapeutic massage heals and recharges you. I have 2 small kids and do a lot of work on the computer and I can feel the knots opening as she works on me. I don’t know how I would get through my week without her. My mom, husband and I go to her on a regular basis and have recommended her to everyone we know. Her knowledge and skill is above and beyond others we have gone to. She seems to have a gift for what she does and truly enjoys healing others. Don’t let her small frame fool you — she is powerful!

Returned in January 2014 — same conclusion as before: Kristie is very good. The massage room has moved further back in the building eliminating the street noise noted before. Professional treatment at a reasonable price.

I met Kristie at the Encinitas Street Fair last year and she offered few minutes of deep tissue work on me while I considered if I wanted to buy a bulk pack of massages. My challenge is that I get muscle stiffness that significantly reduces my range of motion, thus leading to tendon and ligament injuries. At that time, I was dealing with plantar fasciitis and extremely tight IT bands. Kristie worked on me for a few minutes and demonstrated an excellent command of Thai stretching, so I decided to buy the bulk pack.
There were hundreds of providers who would have honored the bulk pack of services I bought, but I was sold based on her knowledge, strength, and kinesthetic ability to work in that narrow area between a healthy stretch or pressure and one which is too intense and exacerbates injury.
Since buying the bulk pack, I’ve been back to Kristie one time at her Acacia Avenue office in Solana Beach. The office is small and modest, though comfortable. I heard ambient street noise; however, Acacia Ave. is pretty peaceful, so the noises were only the occasional car passing by or another client coming into the office in preparation for their appointment.
Kristie’s initial massage was deep and she has learned to use obtuse angles when applying substantial pressure, avoiding pain, bruising, and the feeling like I am being jabbed by something sharp. Instead, I felt pressure, muscles unlocking/​releasing and an overall sense of satisfaction. The stretching she engaged me in was really cathartic, including stretches that emulated what I would perform using my own body weight in a yoga class. Although yoga is great, I sometimes cannot get the stretch I need because I am actually too tight, so the assisted stretching really helps by getting to a degree of flexibility where I can stretch on my own again. As well, there are certain traditional Thai stretches she performs that are not helped by Yoga and I benefit from those, too (e.g. aligning her bent knees on my hamstrings, pulling on my elbows behind me, as I stretch upward without having to use my own arms).
I recommend working with Kristie if you have significant needs and maybe more than just a casual massage. She is more akin to a clinician in her ability to help and her fees are higher when compared to others that advertise massage or acupressure. Don’t be fooled by the comparison. She is better and worth the price if you need the work.
I received a cup of water at the end of the massage/​stretch session and felt more than just rejuvenated with energy; I felt physically unwound and healthy.

Kristi is a talented healer! I had a masectomy a year ago and I go to Kristi once a week to help me with my lymph drainage and tension in my shoulder. She is wonderful. She spends time with me, explains what she is doing and I am always so much better after I leave! I have had many massages and Kristi is really one of the best I have ever had work on me. I know she works on several of us gals that had breast cancer and never disapoints. Even though, she has me out of pain at the moment I still go once a week to keep my arm healthy. Thanks Kristi!
