My energy consultant Andy is courteous, knowledgable and returns calls/emails promptly. I learned about all of the different options available to me as a consumer and what I would be saving on a monthly and yearly basis according to my previous usage. The installation team was excellent. The Phantoms were timely, courteous, knowledgable and approachable. I witnessed team work at its best. The team worked like a well oiled machine and took the time to thoroughly explain the action plan for my home and provided me with the option to installing the inverter indoors or outdoors since my current electricity meter is attached to my garage. If all teams are as efficient as this installation team is, solar city has an even brighter future ahead. Thank you guys! Happy I replaced my electricity company. —- 7⁄10 update — these are questions I answered for friends on Facebook. They may answer some of yours. As you can see by my responses I’m excited and interested in solar technology. I spent about a year researching the best company to go with. Friend: and who is responsible should something happen to the panels? Me: Good question — solar city is. They will replace the panels… No cost. The panels also help preserve your roof.(I have an end of life roof & the panels shield the roof from the sun, rain and snow). Friend: What happens if the solar panels stop working? Me: If the panels don’t work, Solar City does not make money on the investment. They handled everything on my behalf. Calling township for permit, notify the electricity company of the arrangement, and insuring the roof. All I pay the electricity company a month is $ 2 as a backup and to keep the line open. Meaning if I go over what my solar panels produce I can use their electricity as a backup. Me: You can even monitor your electricity usage live via iPhone/Android app. Me: You can even later purchase if you decide to. Under contract they will upgrade the panels with the latest solar panels. You can even have the panels moved to a new home. Me: We may need a new roof in a couple of years and they will remove and reinstall. So that’s a plus for me.
