Agree with the other reviews. The food is ok but it definitely looks like a dying restaurant. They deliver to my house so that’s a plus. It is consistently good tasting and priced well. Hope they make it.

Great for take out in Somers. Love the lunch and dinner specials. Everything I get is good.

Dingy and worrisome Sorry, read the reviews, tried it out and will not be back. Food was average at best(Generals Chicken had no spice to it at all and the chicken fingers were soggy by the time I got home). But what really worried my was the condition of the restaurant. Bikes in the dinning area, newspapers spread out, dirty floor and tables that looked like they needed a good cleaning… If the customer area and areas the customer can SEE are this dirty, what do you think the kitchen looks like? Nonononononono, will not be back, sorry. I’ll take the other place on 190, at least I can see where they are cooking.

This was my first time here. When I walked in the place was empty. It seemed like they weren’t even open as they had to turn the lights on. Once they did it revealed 3 tables that had dirty dishes on them. Then they handed us dirty menus that the pages stuck together. My friend reassured me the place was good, so I chalked it up to a bad day and ordered. I ordered the steamed dumplings and General Tso’s. The dumplings were great. They even added garlic to the soy sauce. The General Tso was not. It tasted like a lazy man’s sweet and sour sauce. It was even bright red. I would have returned it and asked for something else, but the waitress never came back until my friend had finished his meal… Also leaving our water glasses empty the entire time. When she finally came over with our bill she apologized and offered to remove it. I was happy it was that easy. She offered to make me something else, but I had told her if she came by sooner I might have, but since she waited until my friend was finished, it was too late.

Best ‘Chinese’ food in the area! As Matt P. says in his review, «Don’t expect Peking duck in the window and black mushrooms in your ginger scallion lo mein, this is the standardized order by numbers stuff.» And yet, despite this rather common culinary model, their many dishes still manage to distinguish themselves for excellence. Frankly, it’s a great – and inexpensive – alternative to the run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurants in the area. Certainly worth a try, whether dining in, or taking out! Now, I’m not usually a five-star kind of guy, but… as far as Hong Kong Garden is concerned, I feel they’ve pretty much taken the standard ‘Chinese’ dinner about as far as it can go! For what it is, it’s about the best one is likely to find!

Since moving to Somers in the early 1990s, Hong Kong Garden has been our family staple Chinese take-out place. Their prices are very decent. We always get lo-mein, fried rice, broccoli in garlic sauce, tofu, and some other dishes. They’re very fast, usually with in 15 minutes. Sometimes you’ll get one of the owner’s kids who work there to take your order when you call/pick up. He’ll figure out your new total if you have a coupon without touching a calculator and he’s barely in high school. They do have a sit down area inside, which I have done once many years ago. Since then, it’s been take out. Best Chinese in Somers, hands down.

I’ll start by saying it is what it is. That is the local place for americanized Chinese food. Don’t expect Peking duck in the window and black mushrooms in your ginger scallion lo mein, this is the standardized order by numbers stuff. Having said that– the food is great, always fresh always piping hot and served fast. I love the place and sometimes order from there so much they worry about me. Instead of take out take out try eating in there. The restaurant side is comfy and quiet, so much so that you could bring a date there. A really cool date that gets it of course. If you go say hi to Anita, no need to ask who she is, she’ll tell you. p. s. they serve beer :)
