I have been going here for many years as my family owned a business in the same plaza for nearly 45. Through all of the owners this place has been nothing but potential with horrible staff– this group seems to nickel and dime you for every single thing and with 0 justification– I ordered a number 8(porkroll, bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel w a coffee) and was up charged for the cheese AND double meat– DIDNTEVENGET A COFFEE! So I just paid more than the special I ordered and did not even get my whole meal and when I asked the cashier she said it was MY job to tell her I wanted the coffee when the ticket clearly stated my order clearly as a number 8. Bottom line NOTWORTHTHEHASSLE. tons of other bagel places in town who aren’t rude and have better food anyways!

I live out of state and work near by. My family enjoys Jersey bagels and I found this place 2 months ago. However after my last visit I will NEVER go back. I ordered almost 3 dozen bagels and 2 bagels with butter and cream cheese. There was NOONE in front of my when I ordered. 4 customers walked in after me and 3 customers got up to pay after picking my 3 dozen bagels. Upon getting to the front of the line, the nasty women behind the counter continued taking everyone in front of me. When I put myself in front of her to check me out she charged me for my order and tried to send me on my way when I asked where the bagels with cream cheese and butter were, she spoke to the employees behind the counter ignored me and went on to ringing out others. No apology nothing. I have now been there over 10 mins. I asked why my bagels weren’t made and her response was«we are busy». Now I understand busy but when Taylor Ham, egg and cheese sandwiches are done before a bagel with butter I need to call«bs». They forgot that part of my order but instead of apologizing she gave me an attitude. When my order was completed, I took my bags… now having been there over 15 mins and I said«you really should be nicer to your customers» the response back shows lack of respect for anyone in the store. «That’s not how we do it around here» I said«ok I’ll never come back than» her response was screamed at me in front of other customers«good we don’t want you to come back» Who treats customers like that??? I live in NJ for 39 years and was never treated so poorly. They have no respect for ppl spending money in their store. I will NEVER go back.

Beating a dead horse here, but what more can I say? Good bagels, generally good sandwiches, competitive prices, mediocre coffee, horrific service. BTW, when they’re not slammed during peak, they are sometimes a smidgen less rude.

I knew something was off when I entered this place and everything that had made it a «local bagel store» that supported the community and where the owners knew you by name was gone. All the Rutgers and local community posters/insignia was gone off the walls and the friendly owner/staff were no longer there. It appears that they have changed ownership. My normal bagel and grilled chicken sandwich wrap tasted different too, like I mean gross. The new owners better get with the program or they will run this business right into the ground. The new man who was either the owner or manager sat behind the counter just overseeing and barking instructions to his staff. He appeared to be down right rude. I won’t be going back.

I hate when these places change ownership and that’s what has happened here… I’ll give it some time for them to work it out but it’s changed, very obviously. Sandwich wasn’t nearly as good this time around… We’ll see

The best bagels in Somerset. They have a big selection, including healthy bagels like multi grain and whole wheat. Many kinds of cream cheese, including several flavors of low-fat. Everything fresh and delicious. Then why only two stars you ask? Well… they get 9 out of 10 orders wrong! It never fails… the wrong bagel or the wrong cream cheese every time. Order an omelette, they will forget the cheese! Come on guys! I keep giving you another chance and you keep failing! I want the yummy bagels so stop it!

Good local place for grab ‘n’ go breakfast or lunch. Tables for eating in but not much ambience or anything special. Also offer outside seating during warmer months. it’s located in a strip mall/complex, so not bad for people watching. Selection of foods include hot and cold items. Coffee station with many flavors to choose from(including cappuccino and hot chocolates. Wide beverage selection overall.

Having lived in the area several years, I can’t believe I just found this place/had to find this place myself. The best bagels in the New Brunswick area easily. Good prices. Four stars because the coffee could be a bit stronger, and I think their breakfast sandwiches could be better given how good the bagels are. But the bagels themselves are outrageous, and the jalapeño cream cheese really hits the spot. I’m a loyal customer already and I’ve known about them for less than a month.

Love love love this place– it’s chill, the staff remembers you(and your regular order) and greets you with a smile. Coffee is excellent, and the Hungry Man sub for breakfast is soooo delicious and filling! I sub out breakfast sausage with no egg and they don’t give me a hard time about it. Every time I’m in the area on weekends I stop in. Great place! Don’t get the pancakes— not that great. Stick with the breakfast sandwiches, potatos, etc. for breakfast. Lunch sandwiches are good too.

Good bagels, what more can I say? I’ve been looking for a bagel shop in the Somerset area all week. * Morning 1’s pick was closed(I guess they’re waiting until the evening bagel rush to open?) * Morning 2’s pick doesn’t accept American Express(I usually don’t carry huge wads of cash on me) * Morning 3’s pick — VICTORY! Good bagels that were still warm from the oven, good selection, and the first time I’ve seen counter staff pre-slice the bagels.

Best bagels in the area — must stop for breakfast or lunch. Great service by the staff and I’ve never had a bad meal here.

Nothing on the menu is bad… NOTHING! Try it all. I just wish they stayed open later. But that’s the price you pay for quality, I suppose.

Love this bagel shop. The bagels are some of the best in Somerset. The prices are a really good value as well. I usually get pork roll and cheese. Always good.

Just moved to the area not to long ago and discovered this place through Unilocal. To keep it simple this is one of the cheapest and best bagel shops I’ve been to for breakfast and lunch. The staff is friendly and food is fresh. When you are in the area I definitely suggest you stop by and enjoy.

My wife and I have been coming here for quite some time now and we absolutely love it. The staff is very friendly and always greet you with a smile. The bagels are always fresh, and the other food on the menu is great too(sandwiches, wraps, omelets, pancakes, etc) They are also willing to customize orders to however you want it. The owner is very friendly and hands on — always trying to update the place and add new things. We moved away recently and I have to say that this place is probably the thing I’ll miss the most!

I’ve been coming here for almost 2 years now and have to say the place is great and is always trying to improve. Several months ago they rearranged the inside so people could flow better around the coffee bar and they recently got a seasonal(Pumpkin spice) coffee in! There is also free WiFi and outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The employees and owner are really nice and helpful too!

Really happy with this deli. Good-sized sandwich(about 6-in?), macaroni salad chips and pickle all for a little over $ 5. The rye seemed really fresh, and the Boar’s head pastrami was delicious. I’m not a fan of coleslaw normally but this subtler concoction worked. I also really liked this pickle, but I don’t like pickles so this might not be a good thing. The veg omelet was fine, and came with EXCELLENT home fries and buttered toast. The service was great, cordial and the smile I got from the woman who rang me up was very genuine. ONE thing though: in my mac salad I found a hair. It could have been my hair, but it was also pretty well into my salad… I’m just saying but I liked them so much it didn’t really matter. Also my friend ate the salad so I’m okay. Will get a bagel and try that jalopeno spread another time!

I have been coming here since they opened under new ownership a few years ago. I don’t give 5 star ratings because I don’t believe any place is absolutely perfect. However, I’m giving 5 stars to Bagel Market and Deli. Why? Quite simply, they get IT! They offer fresh bagels and Boar’s Head meats/cheeses. There is a healthy menu of options and if you can’t find something to eat, then I don’t know what to tell you. An assortment of cream cheeses and I have fallen in love with the olive and veggie. The coffee is always fresh and there are a variety of drink choices. If you want to break away from what’s on the menu, just tell them whatever you want and they will make it. You get good food, freshly made and for bottom line prices. You simply cannot find a better product for cheaper But here’s where they get it… the customer service is fantastic! I am always greeted with smiles and hello’s and the owner always makes time to chat with me. The staff is generally a happy bunch and will bend over backwards for you. It keeps me coming back a few times a week. Other pluses are that you can sit outside when the weather is nice and ownership is slowing updating and improving the store. Recently, new paint, signs, and display cases have been added and I know more is coming. Bottom line… just go and tell them Dave sent you :-)

I totally agree that everyone in this store is great. They’re so nice and friendly. The girl at the cash register let me try several of their specialty spreads/condiments, all of which were delicious. However, these are not fantastic bagels. They’re pretty good for Jersey I will give it that — and probably one of the best in the area — but nothing too special in bagel standards. I’ll probably return though, because it’s in a convenient location, their menu is pretty extensive beyond just bagels, and the workers are super nice.
