Popeye’s

I had the 2-​piece chicken dinner that was supposed to be one breast and a drumstick and they didn’t have any breasts so they substituted a thigh. The taste was tender, juicy, and flavorful, but milder than KFC. Dave had the Cajun fish, and was not at all impressed.

«Don’t you just love it when they completely ignore you?»
These were the words given to us by an employee of one of the other food establishments in this service plaza as we both waited for corrections to be made to our orders. We had ordered two two piece baskets (of fried chicken) and a Cajun fish basket. We received our chicken and fish, our biscuits and sides, and nothing else. While I may not be the most refined person to walk this Earth, I’m certainly not going to stoop so low as to eat red beans and rice or mashed potatoes with only my hands, so back to the counter we went. After a wait that was nearing five minutes, I finally flagged down a worker (since none of them seemed willing to acknowledge me otherwise and asked for spoons for the sides, the included tartar sauce for the fish basket, and honey for the dry biscuits. I received the tartar sauce and honey, but I ended up with forks instead of spoons. By the time I had realized this, the worker who had retrieved them for me had already darted out of earshot.
Ah, I guess there is food to address as well as the service. Both the fish and chicken were hot temperature-​wise when we got them. That’s about it for the highlights. As for the lowlights, all of our side dishes were not nearly as full as they could have been (and usually are at other Popeye’s locations), nor were they well-​prepared. Both of the dishes of mashed potatoes and gravy didn’t even have a tablespoon of gravy on them, and the red beans and rice were only half-​full. The biscuits were dry, but certainly not from being underneath a heat lamp, seeing as they were at room temperature. While the chicken was good, we ordered one basket of spicy chicken and one basket of mild chicken; what we ended up with were two baskets with one spicy piece and one mild piece each.
I’m not sure if Popeye’s corporate would care about this lack of service and quality of food at this service plaza, seeing as how they have a captive audience, but I think that this location’s lack of professionalism and attention to detail smudges the reputation of the entire brand.
