Wallpapering by Design

Stopped in on a Saturday because my usual Ben Moore paint store was closed. Very unimpressed. The guy working at the time didn’t know his butt from a hole in the ground. This drama queen was taking care of another customer and spent a solid 10 minutes on the phone (presumably talking to someone who actually knew something about paint/​stain!!) as he walked all over the store trying to get answers to this customer’s questions. Customer finally left after he couldn’t be accommodated. I was about 30 seconds from walking out myself. Based on the discussion I heard, he wanted a Cabot oil based stain in a particular color. Not sure why that’s such a hard thing to accommodate. You are a paint store after all ! So now it’s my turn and I have a simple request: two gallons on Arborcoat solid deck stain in a color that’s right off their brochure. The counter jockey comes back from the back room to report he only can make one gallon because (IIRC) my color is a «type 3 base» and not a «type 2 base». In order to make my color, you need the former and they only had one gallon left. Again, it’s May (deck staining season) and you’re a friggin paint store. That’s what you do and you can’t accommodate a basic request such as this !! This is the first and last time I’ll use this Ben Moore dealer.

Good customer service and fair prices

I am so happy to have found this store in my «new» neighborhood. Benjamin Moore paint products are what helped me find it and I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit when I saw all of the home hardware and design products packed into this local store. The proprietor is very personable and helpful and if you are running close to his closing time and can call ahead he will wait for you! Also stays later than closing time some days anyway so he has saved me a few trips way out to the big box stores when I needed something late in the day to finish a job. I hope this store gets the local support it deserves and can stay around for years to come. Check it out and remember its there and don’t think of Home Depot or Lowe’s first.

hey!!! So convenient to have an establishment like this in the ‘hood. There are stacks of wallpaper books. And, the retailer is a Benjamin Moore dealer. Luckily the store also stocks items you typically need when working around the house and yard. So, when you can’t find what you need to complete your chore, he just may stock it, which means you won’t need to drive all the way to Lowe’s or Depot. And, you can pick up a cup of coffee at Starbucks (next door) or a sandwich at Mi Amore’s (few extra steps) as your reward for nearing the end of your project.
