I’ve lived here all my life(look at those ugly white condos on boston ave, yup thats me). Let me tell you something, Ball square is boring as shit. Don’t come here for any other reason than A) You live here B) You want breakfast C) You want to go to a cool coffee shop in an uncool area. Its amazing that the square is even listed really.

There are a lotta dudes in this square. Maybe that’s why it’s called Ball Square? Anyway, you got a few breakfast places and pizza places. You have a kickass liquor store(Ball Square Fine Wines and Liquors), where yours truly is a regular. And, you have Lyndell’s. Which is the best fucking bakery this side of the Chaaaaahlz Rivah. Just try it out and maybe you’ll move here, too.

I just moved out of Ball Square and miss it a lot. Not only was it a place that you could get breakfast at 4 different places, you could also get cheap baked goods, wash your laundry, get your car repaired, cheap eats for dinner, liquor store within walking distance that hosts wine tastings all the time, and catch the 89 bus… which is far superior to the 101 simply because it runs more often. And, you are close enough to Davis to walk, but far enough away to not have to deal with Davis. Perfect.

I’m not a fan of Ball Sq at all. It’s one of my least favorite neighborhoods, really. For one, no offense to you young ‘uns, but way too many wannabe hipster Tufts kids. *They stick out like a sore thumb in this largely owner occ. and family oriented neighborhood.* Yeah, breakfast places are cool. But 4 of them on this short stretch is uncalled for. Plus Kelly’s is the only one worth your while, especially if you don’t feel like being squished in with said hipsters. Ball Sq has some good places to stop in – Lyndell’s, Kelly’s, True Grounds, but it isn’t a place to hang for the day. It goes like this Eat breakfast, then leave. Chew and screw. This neighborhood lacks cohesion and even calling it a «neighborhood» feels like a stretch to me.
