Very reasonably priced, homestyle Korean. Haemul pajeon(seafood pancake) was huge(serves 3 – 4), tasty but a bit scant on seafood. Jjampong(seafood soup noodles) was tasty but seemed like mostly chili powder flavoring more than anything else. Ordered soondubu jjigae with pork but server brought out haemul soondubu jjigae(seafood) instead. This tasted super tomatoey and less authentic that I would expect. Would recommend jjampong, of the dishes we ordered.

THEBEST Korean-Chinese food in Boston/Camb ever! I’m originally from Korea and had many MANY korean-chinese food growing up and their food is closest to the ones I’ve tastes in Korea. Their Jjamppong noodle soup(it may look über spicy but it’s just right amount of spiciness) and Jajang noodle(black bean noodle) are MUSTTRY!!! These are their specialties! I usually come here to eat these. If you like fried chicken/tempura, you gotta try their Tangsuyook(fried pork). IT’S REALLYGOOOD! I usually ask them to put the sauce(sweet n sour sauce) aside so I can dip the fried pork in the sauce. This way, my pork is kept nice and crispy for long time. When I come here with few friends, we will order our own noodle dish then order small or large order of Tansuyook for the table to share. Besides, you get some yammy side dishes(free) and fast service. What can I ask more? One of my favorite places in Boston for asian food! I highly recommend this place to those who loves asian food/noodles.

As a cold night treat a group of friends and I decided to get some Korean food. We ordered; –Dukbokki, spicy rice cakes –kimchi pancakes –Jjajangmyun, Black bean noodles –Jjambbong spicy fish soup –Sweet and sour pork –bulgogi, seasoned pork Everything was eaten so quickly I was unable to get any pictures. We had everything family style and there was so much food no one was hungry by then end of the meal. We were also given some barley tea for our meal. I wanted to come here for the Jjajangmyun. However it was the Jjambbong, that won over my taste bubs. The soup while spicy, it had substantial depth of flavor, creating a perfect balance between tang, spice and seafood. The heat does build while eating but it’s wonderful and a definite try if you like spicy. Sadly while everything else was good, but nothing compared to the soup. I would come back here, there were some other soups on the menu that I would love to try and for all five of us our bill was very reasonable.

Spicy tofu soup is great. We regret that we didn’t try the noodles. Seafood pancake is just okay. The crystal noodle is also just okay. We definitely had better Korean food elsewhere. But the price is very affordable.

Delicious, excellent service and very well priced for Korean food. I was very happy with this place and would go back in a heartbeat. They don’t have any chicken options but they do have excellent tofu bibimbop(which I got). My friend was very satisfied with his pork tofu soup. The waitress was extremely courteous and attentive. In the end it’s not the best korean food I had but for the price, convenience, and service it is an amazing deal.

Love this place! Besides Buk Kyung, I haven’t found a spot in Boston even remotely close to some of the places I’ve been to in NY/LA. While not a true Korean BBQ, they do have some great bulgogi and other meats. Their soups and stews are incredibly«home-y» and remind me of meals my mom used to cook for me. The owners seem like incredibly hard workers and are there around the clock. You can’t go wrong with their dolsot bibimbap, tofu kimchi jeyook, jjajangmyun, bulgogi, manduguk, and kimchi chigae!

We were craving Korean food so decided to check this place out. We came on a Friday night, which they weren’t too busy but had a few tables. They must have been short staffed that night as the server was running around like crazy and you can see there were a few tables that have not been cleared yet. There are quite a few options on their menu and they had a good selection of «family style» dishes. We had ordered: — kimchi pancake — sweet and sour pork — soft tofu stew — beef stew — black bean noodles — bibimbap The sweet and sour pork comes in 2 different sizes, small and large. For 5 people, we had ordered the small, since we all ordered something else. The small was still a good amount of food — so I wonder what the large would look like. But the flavour was good and would order it again! The kimchi pancake was good — your typical pancake. The black bean noodles was also good. The soft tofu stew was really good — I’m craving it as we speak! The beef stew was also good — surprisingly the portion for this one is bigger than the other stews. Definitely will be back for more!

Four days before Thanksgiving, our family made a reservation for dinner on Thanksgiving. We double checked to make sure that the restaurant will be open that day and two days before Thanksgiving, we called again to confirm that the restaurant will be open. When we finally got there on the day of Thanksgiving, we found that the restaurant was closed… We even had given them our phone number when we made the reservation and they didn’t call to tell us that the restaurant had decided to close. It was a really big disappointment.

If you’re looking for simple food to make you happy each time, this is it. Buk Kyung is as mom and pop as it gets. There are no frills, no specials, no surprises — just consistently solid comfort food. I’ve been eating here since 2013, and I’ve never had a disappointing experience. My go-to is the soondubu jigae(soft tofu stew). If I’m with a friend, we’d usually go for the seafood or scallion pancake as well. I would also recommend the jajangmyun(noodles with black bean sauce), which is what they’re known for. It’s a huge bowl of noodles, and I’d recommend sharing it amongst two people in addition to another dish. The single-note of the jajangmyun can get a little much towards the end for me(might not be for you!) The owners/waitstaff have never treated me with anything but kindness. I’m deeply appreciative of this place.

Legit Korean-Chinese food. Buk Kyung is perfect for a weekend lunch with a group of friends. The more friends the better, as the dishes really seem to scale well the more you order. Their portions are large and not super cheap, but with 8 friends we all ended up super stuffed for less than $ 20 a person. I would even recommend sharing the individual noodle dishes. The typical Korean-style Chinese dishes seem to fall into main categories: noodles and crispy fried stuff. On the crispy fried front we tried the tangsooyook sweet and sour pork, the ganpoonggi sweet and spicy chicken, and ganpoonggi shrimp. The tangsooyook was the best dish of the meal in my opinon. It was very crispy and tender, and comparable to incarnations I have tried in Korean. The other two were also good. On the noodle front we had the famous jajangmyun black bean noodles, the jjampong seafood noodle soup, and the ulmyun seafood and egg chowder. The jajangmyun was pretty solid and I enjoyed their jjampong more than I usually do at other places. It was my first time trying ulmyun and it was pretty tasty. They also have tons of other traditional Korean dishes on their menu. Service was friendly. Food took a while to come out of the kitchen, but once it got going, it didn’t seem to stop. We were also offered some dumplings and an extra bowl of jajangmyun as a freebie. Great for groups.

Nope, no good. Male waiter impolite, almost stupid. They realized I didn’t liked him so they had another waiter to service our table, which was considerate of them, I guess… Had the fried pork(tangsuyuk) and noodles with black soy sauce. The pork meat was of extremely low quality, mostly fat and no meat. Noodles were ok. Place is small and dirty. So are the utensils and cups. Been there twice and not a good experience both times. It’s not expensive but considering the low quality it had to be a lot cheaper! Not recommended at all.

For 4 people, we had the jjajangmyun, spicy seafood soup, scallion pancake, and what tasted like hot and sour sauce chicken(can’t rmb the name). Enjoyed both the jjajangmyun and the seafood soup(came with clear noodles) Portions were large — way too much for 4 hungry people. Service was polite and friendly. Very casual restaurant setting so please don’t expect anything fancy.

I hate to add this update but my most recent visit was so disappointing. After receiving our appetizer, we received a handwritten check, which was confusing since we didn’t even get our entrees yet. I brushed it off as efficiency but soon realized that maybe our orders got forgotten. I asked the waitress and that’s when everything went downhill. It was obvious that the 2 women staffing the restaurant were very frustrated with the kitchen(screaming at the chefs) and the ‘broken computer’(which was the reason our entrees supposedly did not go through.) Soon, new customers showed up and were sent away b/c the computers were broken and there was nothing they could do but close up shop. The worst part was that some Koreans talked their way into staying and dining somehow which I felt was extremely unfair to the customers who just walked away confused by the«Sorry, we’re closed because our computer is broken, sorry.» The side dishes(namely the cucumbers) were not good at all. The only other 2 sides were kimchi and kkakdugi(which were fine.) Moral of the story: Check if the usual staff/owners are present before deciding to dine.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant especially since some of their dishes are really tasty and savory and the prices are decent for the Cambridge area… Pros: — never crowded so you’re guaranteed a seat and the service is quick — hot tea right when you’re seated. it’s good too — a small array of bon chon Cons: — fried dumplings taste store-bought — noodles and sauce: so the noodles are good and chewy but the sauce is mostly onions as oppose to the meaty stuff described on the menu. — smell of the restaurant is a little like bathroom soap

I love Buk Kyung for their Korean noodles. The JaJungMyun is on point. Super slippery and chewy noodles, lots of sauce, and good side dishes. The sauce is a sweet black bean sauce, and comes with sauteed onions and zucchini. They also have some raw onions and pickled radishes to pair with it. I also love their spicy seafood noodle soups. They have a great spicy flavor without killing your taste buds and as always, the noodles are slippery and chewy! If you’re looking for an appetizer, get the Kimchi Pancake. It comes with a dipping sauce. It is slightly spicy, kind of mushy and chewy. Nothing like an «American» breakfast pancake. The service was very friendly. It was an older Korean woman who made sure we had everything we needed, and was super excited to tell us that we were saving $ 1 on the JaJungMyun because it was a lunch special. I gave her that extra $ 1 in a bonus tip.

The food was good, the ambiance was alright, but the timing of the entrees need a little work. I was in a group of 3 around 1PM, Saturday, and we were seated without wait. We ordered: Mool Mandoo: a little disappointed. The dumplings themselves were too big, which I’m not used to for mool mandoo. I haven’t tried their fried dumplings, but I feel like they used the same dumplings, and either boils/fries it depending on the order? Usually, restaurants have different dumplings(mool mandoo is usually smaller) for different methods of cooking… The filling felt a little dry because there was so much, which probably works for fried, but not really for boiled dumplings. Ganpoong Shrimp: The seasoning was great and the sauce was delicious, but it was a little soggy. Which is understandable when the dish has been sitting for a bit, but soggy the moment it comes out? ehh. Don’t get me wrong, it still tasted great, and I would definitely order this again next time lol Jajangmyun: Very simple and traditional korean-chinese dish, which was delicious. The amount of sauce was perfect, and the seasoning was great. Yummmm Jampong: The broth was great, and so were the portions! They were not stingy with the seafood and the soup itself was delicious. I usually can’t eat a lot of jampong because it’s too spicy for me, but honestly, this wasn’t too bad! Delicious. Jajangbop: So my friend ordered this as his entrée, but it came out WAYYYY before any of our entrees or the ganpoong shrimp. He was actually long finished with his dish by the time our entrees came out. I understand there’s not that much«cooking» required for this dish, but that doesn’t mean you just bring it out when its«ready»… It tasted great though, not gonna lie. The seasoning on the rice was phenomenal. All in all, if you’re craving some korean-chinese tranditional food, this is the place to go… probably because this is the best you’re going to find in Boston, I’ve heard. I’m probably spoiled by the«better» ones in NY/NJ so I was disappointed, but honestly, I’m definitely coming back here when I crave it.

MM so many little goodies came with the Bibimbap beef bowl! It wasn’t the best one I’ve had but overall it was good. The meat could have used more flavor. It was a lot of food and I couldn’t finish everything. The bowl comes with sides of bean sprouts, kimchee, cucumbers and one item I couldn’t figure out. The scallion pancake was way too squishy but I ate it anyways. Service was GREAT. There was a little older lady serving us and she was really sweet and attentive.

Let me start off by saying that I’m Korean and the Korean food in Boston is pretty abysmal. That being said — Buk Kyung is as close to good Korean food as you’re going to get. I wandered in here after gorging on some Union Square Donuts and split the Yuk Gae Jang and Bulgogi with my boyfriend. Don’t be alarmed by the redness of the Yuk Gae Jang broth — that’s how it’s supposed to look and it’s not that spicy. Everything from the meat to the noodles was tasty and reminded me of home. The Bulgogi was okay — not spectacular, but better than most of the other Korean places I’ve tried. My coworker raves about the Ganpoongki so I’ll have to test it out the next time I’m there. I think this place is better than it’s other location in Allston, but I’ve heard that’s debatable. Overall, solid Korean food.

This is one of the better Korean restaurants I’ve been to in Boston! They are known for their jajangmyun, jampong, bibimbap, and sweet and sour pork. We opted for the first two, and you will NOTBEDISAPPOINTED! The only other time I’ve ordered jajangmyun in Boston is at the Korean joint in the super88 food court, and I was pretty disappointed and discouraged to order it again. BUT after Buk Kyung, my spirits have been revived! I devoured this chewy noodle goodness(ok, maybe not all of it. we shared it 4-ways. It’s a realllly big bowl!!). But seriously. I love the texture of the noodles and the sauce is flavored well! Pork, zucchini, and potatoes! Don’t let the black sauce scare you. You must try this. NOW Jampong is a spicy seafood noodle soup. Pretty sure they use the same perfect noodles as the jajangmyun. We ordered the one with extra seafood because we were splitting this 4 ways again. Definitely enough noodles and seafood, but don’t expect too much variety. It’s mostly squid, onions, zucchini, and those baby frozen shrimps. Also, the broth is prettyy spicy! We also ordered the seafood pancake– a little on the thicker side, so it was a bit mushy towards the middle. Comes with 8 pieces total This was more than enough for the 4 of us. I’d come back just for the jajangmyun. can you tell I’m a little obsessed? Probably because I haven’t had it in so long and gave up looking for a good place after my disappointing experience before. Buk Kyung to the rescue: p Only gripe? There’s only 2 people working, and they tend to leave the tables filled with dishes until people walk in and need to be seated. They could probably use some extra clean up help!

Best bi bim bap! Went for early-ish dinner to celebrate Chuseok and was so surprised there was only one other family there! Portions are huge! The half japchae and rice was huge! Dolsot bi bim bop(hot) was SOOO good! Love how the rice gets crispy with the egg and all the yummy veggies and marinated beef in the stone bowl. I could have eaten two bowls! Oink! So flavorful and pretty! The owner/waitress was very attentive and friendly and of course all the sides were great!
