I learned about this place years ago– maybe from a review that said something to the effect of it you want to furnished a place without spending much money… that I didn’t need to do but have always seen or found things that are well worth taking home. The items are also in good to great condition and if you don’t see something, ask. I believe they handle estate sales so they might not have it out. I find much of the stuff is more vintage, perhaps a bit more traditional but that doesn’t mean they don’t have the the item you or the person you’re shopping for or the odd-ball piece to delight you or the chair you know you need to have. Jewelry ranges from costume to higher end. Over the years I’ve found the customer floor service variable, can depend on who you get so you sort have to scope that out. You might need assistance from one of the other staff people which has meant sometimes you to leave and come back. This store still remains on my list. Never needed to arrange a delivery.

It should be no surprise to anyone that knows me when I admit the following: I lurve a good cheap deal. Not a low-cost budget value purchase on a crappy product, mind you. I’m talking about an exceptional deal on some quality goods. If you’re struggling to pick up what I’m putting down, I’m sure one of the definitions of «Asian» on urbandictionary will help you out. At any rate, Consignment Galleries caught my eye as we wandered past on our way to grab some breakfast at 3LF. Mere steps away from Davis Square, it’s conveniently located, but utterly unobtrusive. You can skip the rest of this review and just go for yourself for some deals of a lifetime on wondrous antiquities. We popped in on a whim and discovered a veritable treasure trove! I’m a total glutton for obscure, eye-catching stemware and had to contain myself from buying half the merchandise in this shop. I managed to leave with only two purchases: — An enormous punch bowl that came with a dozen(yes, twelve!) matching glasses, along with an absolutely unique ladle. $ 45 — A set of five cocktail glasses. The cups of these were patterned akin to the inside of a hand-hammered wok. I’d never seen anything like them before. $ 25 As if the place couldn’t get any better… the husband and wife team that operate the store are marvelous! It’s like they came to life out of some children’s book — they were efficient, kindly, soft-spoken, and very good at their work. In fact, I left with all of my goods wrapped and packaged up in perfectly fitting re-used cardboard boxes. My experience here was perfect. As in, I couldn’t think of anything I’d want more from a consignment shop. If I had random kitchy old crap to get rid of, I wouldn’t want anyone else to sell it for me. Whether you’re looking to ditch a noteworthy item or ten, or just want a great deal on someone else’s beautiful castoffs, look no further.

Obsessed. This place has so many hidden gems, I could honestly sift through their things for hours. I bought a gorgeous $ 8 lapis colored pitcher and glass set that would easily cost $ 50 at Anthropologie, and the ladies who helped me check out were very friendly. Definitely going back with friends.

Unbelievable. I came in and saw a desk I wanted, asked if they delivered to South Boston, said yes no problem. Came back to pay and schedule delivery, now they don’t want to deliver because«they don’t feel like it.» Asked if they had a moving company they could recommend, said they were too expensive, and wouldn’t give me the option. Which makes no sense, since I said is pay for it. Totally infuriated, complete waste of time. TL/DR: tried to spend $ 600 but was refused because apparently my money is no good here.

I stopped in recently to look around for a specific item. There are some really fabulous treats in here that will satisfy any type of decorating scheme, with the possible exception of ultra modern. It’s jammed with paintings, prints, furniture, china sets, jewelry, purses, figurines, vases, book shelves, sterling and silver plate, lamps and more.(It’s a bit crowded, so I would not bring the kids with you on this shopping trip.) I was really astonished at the prices, which are, for the most part, very reasonable. While I did not find what I was looking for, I walked out with a fantastic painting and a gorgeous pair of earrings. I love my finds and feel that both were real bargains Great place to shop locally and support an independently owned business. If you like everything made in China and knowing your purchases are just like everyone else’s in town, this place is not for you.

I have both bought and sold items at Consignment Galleries, and highly recommend them. They sell a wide variety of items(something for everyone!) and are always getting new things in all the time. As far as my experience goes in consigning items to sell, I think they are one of the most honest operations in the business. They have done very well by me. And, as an added plus, everyone on their staff couldn’t be nicer.

I’m waffling on my rating of this place. On the one hand you could wade through all the stuff here and find a hidden gem but on the other hand most of it is junk. You’re instantly tipped off because it’s smells like a musty old basement in here. Ah well, the prices seem right and you could find something amazing if you have the time.

Finally made the trek to check out Consignment Galleries and wasn’t very impressed. First of all, «galleries» to me implies perhaps a few rooms? This place is two rooms. Kind of just a gallery. Also, based on the Unilocal reviews, I was hoping the furniture would be reasonably priced. It was not! You can definitely find nicer antiques and MCM stuff on Craigslist for way better prices. All in all, with the limited and so-so inventory and high-ish pricing(considering the quality of the things they were selling) I would not go back.

This place is singlehandedly responsible for decorating my home. The owners and staff are wonderful and the quality of the merchandise(furniture, rugs, etc.) is outstanding. It is an absolute pleasure to shop here. Do yourself and your home a favor and go.

oh my god, this place is like a mecca for vintage costume jewelry. There is also a lot of real jewelry but while I love all things that are yellow gold and gemstone, I just can’t justify spending more than 20 dollars on anything that can fit in my pocket.
There is an OVERWHELMING amount of things under $ 20, thank god. I went in expecting to maybe peruse through and see some cool stuff — I left spending close to $ 100 dollars on all things jewelry. There is a bunch of stellar antique furniture and other things but all I really care about is what I can wear on my body, and let’s just say I left VERY satisfied. If you like costume jewelry, go in and expect to spend money.

One huge advantage about living in New England is the amount of antiques available. Hell, there might be as many antique shops as coffee shops. I do go to the usual places, but this is my favorite, and it’s interesting, because it’s such a different format from the sub-leased dealer places around. Actually, if you have any interest in antiques, DOITNOW, most places are going under because stock is running low and the economy. Everyone has a unusual collection, and mine happens to be dishes. I love dishes, Japanese Meiji and before(if I can afford it) and French Limoge, both of which are inspired by my mom, but I do submit, I have my own tastes in each. Anyway, Consignment has the most interesting supply of Limoge(Havilland, etc.) in New England. 2 times out of 3 visits, I will see something that I will seriously consider. And you know what? This stuff is cheap. For instance, I purchased 8 «Made in Occupied Japan» Noritake dinner plates, which is a J brand of French china, for 9 dollars a plate. That’s way cheaper than Crate and Barrel, far more interesting, collectible, and more beautiful.(Made in Occupied Germany is another sub-genre of antiquing.) You will occasionally see a whole 90 piece set for sale for less than 200 dollars. Maybe you might think it’s your grandmother’s china, and it is, but I dine on it everyday at my place, and I feel I’m eating off art. Everything tastes better. The jewelry is pretty cool too, but I am not so up on that.

Totally packed with antique furniture, lamps, ceramics, artwork and vintage jewelry. Lots of expensive items but also cheaper ones that would make good gifts or finds for your apartment. Pretty large and tightly packed in so be careful when you walk! You might not over some expensive ceramics.
