Tried their Tuesday night Dosa buffet. While the dosa were crispy and tasty, the service was much to be desired. Had to ask multiple times for additional sambhar and chutney. Guess they expect us to eat the dosa without any condiments!

Indian food on Indian food on Indian food! I ordered a lot. Especially with the long drive from Upstate NY to Massachusetts, I was hungry. We started out with the mango lassi, gobi 65, and the vegetable pakora(all that made my mouth water). Except, the latter two were tasteless. It was lacking both salt and the necessary spices to give the dishes flavor, which I really wasn’t expecting. Where’s the red chili powder?!? After the appetizers, I ordered the Masala Dosa. Except, my tastebuds were disappointed once again. The potato saak(as Gujaratis call it) found inside was lacking salt and the necessary spices again. Why oh why! This restaurant is quaint. Once you walk in, there is a whole back section. We were seated exceptionally fast. However, our server was soft spoken. He was very difficult to hear at times but made it work. Overall, I wasn’t too pleased with the quality of food but I may be biased coming from an Indian background. Try it out is all I can say!

OPENEDAGAINONJAN24, 2016. I was born in india and this is authentic south indian place. This is by far my favorite place for rava n spring dosas. Another fav is dahi bhalla. Sambars/chuntey’s r good but dosas are unbeatable — thin, crispy(if u want), non-oily and right amount of spices. Only udupi in Lowell has better sambar/chutney than dosa n curry but that place is 1 hr drive. I m so glad that dosa n curry is open again.

This is my favorite place to get dosa. Their Onion Dosa is my favorite. Paper Dosa is quite the showstopper. Other dosas are delicious too.

A delicious establishment! The dosa is always spot on and quite tasty, and the paper mache dosa is quite the experience(it is about as long as their tables!). The staff is friendly, and I’ve been here multiple times because of how tasty it is. Sad that it hasn’t been up and running for a while, but eager to return once it returns!

The main reason I’m writing this review is to alert customers that the business is temporarily CLOSED. If you go to the restaurant, you will see a sign posted saying that the building was closed(by the city, I think) and that they will re-open in a few days. Sadly, it’s been like this for at least a month so I have no idea when they will actually open. I’m giving the restaurant 5 stars because this is(was) truly one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the area. They have items on the menu that you don’t necessarily find at other Indian restaurants and they are very vegan-friendly. UPDATE: In the beginning of December I saw a sign in their window that says they hope to open sometime around Dec 12 – 18.

Its refreshing to find a vegetarian restaurant these days … you know the way your food is prepared has not been cross contaminated with any meat products. Usually get the paneer tikka masala which is very tasty and flavorful but they give too much rice, wish they would give you the option of replacing it with naan instead. Downsight is that while we were eating the waitress kept coming to our table to ask about the bill and if we’ve paid yet. I understand that it was almost closing time but there were still 7 parties at the restaurant! Nor did anyone mention that the kitchen closed etc … that sucked.

Delicious! We opted for as many vegan items as our hungry family could handle. We were not disappointed.

This was a really good place. good and tasty food. Ambiance is decent. Was a fan of this place till my friend found a Finger NAIL in her food. It was a definite set back. The buffet is pretty good. Hope no one finds a nail any more…

I don’t eat Indian food often, but I’ve had enough to know that this is really good! I came here with two friends and we stuffed ourselves with their buffet. Highly recommended.

Wow! The minute I walked in to Dosa n Curry I was brought back to Hyderabad, or Bangalore, or somewhere I loved in India. All of my South Indian favorites including dosa, idli and vada. Some items such as pav bhaji I have never seen outside of India. The only place in America where I have had more authentic South Indian is at the home of my a friend’s mother who is from Hyderabad. The even have proper filter coffee.

It’s been a long time since my last visit, as I’m not in the area often. Menu is the same but staff have shifted. Still friendly and the service was more timely than my last visit. The chole bhature was oddly sweet and the bhature(which were more like pooris) were a bit oily. That sundal is still incredible, though — super taste with crunchy urad dals and just the right amount of coconut. My friend’s mysore masala dosa was also oddly sweet but the papdi chat was delicious. Sambhar was so-so(similar to a lot of restaurant sambhar). Their tomato chutney is good. Rotis were fresh and tasty. Anyway our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so we had another meal from the leftovers at dinner. The rotis stayed soft for several hours which was great. I really need to come back here for a dosa soon. The dosas here are all gigantic and delicious but I always get swayed by that sundal and pooris. (Atmosphere-wise, I really wanted to hear the soundtrack of that Bollywood channel playing on the TV, not Bob Marley’s Greatest Hits, but you can’t really be sad with Bob Marley either, so OK.) Keep bringing Pure Vegetarian to Somerville! Just maybe with less sweet and more savory.

There are only a handful of south Indian restaurants in the Boston metro area, dosa n’ curry IMHO is the best of the lot. The dosas are crispy and delicious! On our last visit we also tried the idli and pav bhajji, both were average. The paper and masala dosas were a home run. If you’re driving here, there is a reserved parking lot for the restaurant right next door

This was my first time trying a dosa, and my friend and I shared the paper masala dosa and the paneer bhurji. The actual dosa was very large, crispy, and light but somewhat oilier than I had imagined it to be. It came with a small bowl of sambar, a bowl of potatoes, and two sauces. Everything tasted good but I felt like it each component could have been more flavorful. The paneer bhurji was a new dish that I’ve never had at an Indian restaurant — it was basically mashed up paneer with vegetables. Again I thought the flavor was good, but I wish it were stronger.(We did order it «mild» so it was not spicy at all.) I’m not sure if this style of Indian food just has milder flavors or if it’s the restaurant, but I think I prefer stronger more flavorful curries to what we ordered here.

Loved the food. We ordered Gobi 65, hot and sour soup, Podi masala dosa and aaloo tikki with chole masala. Aaloo Tikki was the best of all. We like our food to be spicy. Despite of us telling the waiter to make the dish spicy, it was not served spicy.

Stopped by for Sunday lunch. Love the buffet spread — pan fried potatoes, hearty soups, tasty pakoras/samosas and the 8+ different entrées. The buffet comes with dosa — super large thin pancake(mild sourdough taste) with dollops of seasoned potato tucked inside. Definitely a great vegetarian lunch option without breaking the piggybank.

There were so many things wrong with my experience here. It took forever for us to get seated and our orders taken. The server had no clue what was going on and tried to deliver another table’s order to us. We ordered three courses, and our dirty plates from the previous course were not taken away as a new one was brought in. The phone rang constantly, and no one bothered to answer it. There were people waiting to be seated, and they waited a long time. The food was just ok. The rice pudding we ordered for dessert was store bought Kozy Shack. When the bill arrived, I tried to give them a credit card. I was told they did not take credit even though there was a visa logo on their door. Their website also said they took credit. I paid with cash and no one even bothered to come and give me change.

we went there with four people and this is a great Veg place to have south Indian food. We have been to lots of rest serving Dosa and idlis but this has been a very good find. the veg platter, medu vada and chilly potatoes for app. were great to start with and they were really tasty and upto the mark. I guess the Sambhar was not that good since i did not have it i will not comment on it and base the rating on it. for dinner i got poori and palak paneer. I am a palak paneer aficionado and this place’s palak paneer would be in my top 3. It was awesomely good and spicy as per my request. Temple dosas were very nice too and since we ordered spicy they obliged us in a very nice way with the spiciness. The bisi bele bhat were good but i did not like it since, I think i ordered something else than what i wanted since i did not know the name of the rice dish i was looking for but the taste was nice for people who like bisi bele bhat. Overall the place was nice and def due for a re visit sometime but i do want to rant about the order taker. She was rude with her expressions and felt like she forced in to doing her job did not like her.
