They ask you to order online… With an estimated time as 20 mins but they make you wait for 45 mins instead. I wish they were apologetic rather than blaming it on PayPal and other online services. I gave 2 stars for food.

We’ve been coming here, mostly for takeout, since they opened a few years ago. They have limited seating for eat in, but the food is served in plastic regardless of whether you eat in or take out. Food is good, although many of the standard dishes are different from the sit-down Indian restaurants we frequent more often. The name is a play on Hari chutney, the green mint chutney you get most often with the complimentary papadams in sit-down Indian restaurants, but«Hurry» does not reflect the long wait to get your order. We usually call the place«Dawdle Chutney» and order by phone 20 – 30 minutes before pick up.

As many others have noted, consistency is a big problem here! The first time we ordered indo-chinese last year, it was amazing! Two months later we went back and it was pathetic! The paneer pieces were hard and food was bland. Still went back another time, this time bought veg entrees… not impressed. After a long time, I decided to give it another try last night and this time ordered chaat items. While the taste was good, the quantity was skimpy and not at all authentic with chaat! They had skimped on the potato fillings in the pani puri and dahi chaat… dahi chaat was literally just puris filled with sev, chutney and yogurt! Pricey for the quantity and not the best quality. Overall, the food is just so-so. Only reason I end up here is because of the limited Indian food choices in the area! Also if you do decide to try it out, better to take-out. not a great ambiance. And 1 star or rather 0 on service. Its not that hard to smile and say hello!

I’ve eaten at the Princeton location and it’s fantastic. This location, however is horrible. It’s full of gnats or fruit flies flying around! I was going to move tables, but there’s a guy across the room I see swatting bugs away as well! It’s getting cold out. Bugs should be gone by now. Bugs swarming around are a sign of a bigger problem. Makes me wonder how dirty the kitchen is. Very hard to finish my meal. I wish I could go to the counter and cross off my tip. I won’t be back here.

I had lunch at this place on Sunday and the dishes they serve come with basmati rice as per their menu. The dish(gongura chicken) was well made and flavorful. But the rice they served was of really poor quality and looked stale as well. It wasn’t even basmati rice. I complained to them about the quality of rice and they did not even apologize or offer a replacement. Needless to say… i am never going back.

There are great chances that anything you order in this place, comes out better than expected! I personally like their biryani, the assorted kababs and gongura chicken(and there are many others). If you try the various Indian curries, you would forget the much-hyped chicken tikka masala as the sole representative of all Indian curries. The only downside is that this place is not great for sit down and most customers order take outs. And, I have seen them to be slow sometimes on cleaning the tables etc. That’s why only 4 star. In terms of food, they are certainly 5.

This restaurant serves food that I think of when I hear the word Indian and comfort. The food is simply amazing but the service is honestly not up to the standards that the food sets. They serve the food on PAPERPLATES even McDonalds serves food with sturdier plates. The food is served in plastic containers and water is served in mugs you get at Shop Right. Also the food takes forever to make for something that is FASTFOOD. The food takes on average longer than 30 minutes to prepare. This wouldn’t have been a problem if they hired more people to work. Last time I went there I saw one worker operate both the kitchen and the cash register. That is not acceptable. Basically this restaurant serves absolutely amazing food but the way it serves it is sub-par.

I give this place 4 stars because their menu and food is as authentic Indian as much as it can be for a fast food restaurant. The interior is simple, no fuss no muss place. I’m having the chicken korma and it is pretty good. They have lots of India an sweets and even ice cream to.offer. I don’t give it 5 stars because I consider it too pricey to be a fast food spot. I paid $ 13 for chicken korma with a soda. You can go to the other Indian spot in Somerville which has $ 10 all you can eat buffet and they have amazing naan and roti imcluded. They don’t even include at least one naan here which I think would make the difference in the meal. Don’t think I will be coming here too often.

I entered hoping to get what I want. Which was spicy Indian food. I walked out definitely content with my meal. They have menus by the cashier in which you can look through and decide what you want. I ordered the chicken manchow and chettinad. The person asked if I wanted spicy or mild. Capsaicin could be my middle name. It was spicy but not overwhelming. The food was delicious. They have mango lassi which I highly recommend with your meal.

We ordered take out from here one night after our usually Indian food place had closed for the day. The food was ok, but I definitely have had better Indian food. We ordered the Lamb Saag and it was alright. We may have gone back, but we found a disgusting long hair in our food. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone.

Service wasn’t very friendly when I went. The garlic naan and lamb khorma was pretty good. The meat samosas tasted pretty awful. This place is okay.

Jan 2016 Tried this place again but regrets continue. Malai kofta dish was bland and not as flavorful as a few years back. Guy at the counter is definitely getting better trained in customer relations and actually cracks a smile now. Food quality still subpar though. 17-sept-2015: Consistency is poor and quality suffers and varies here from meal to meal. Did take out today and it was terribly bland. Looks like they have lots of chef turn over. I have encountered this couple of time previously but today food was not flavorful at all. High risk for catering from this place as you may not get what you expect. Was planning on doing appetizers from here for my Xmas party but not worth the risk. Dropped to two stars !!!‘ Pre sept 2015 review: Good tandoori dishes but Agree with the reviews that state the quality and consistency of food has deteriorated over past year or so. We use to do a lot more take out and party orders but I have avoided this place due to lack of consistency. I drive to Edison or Kendall park and some of those places even deliver to me for party orders. Further, the place is understaffed or have staff that are literally clueless at front desk. The guy at the register there frequently mixes up orders, can have an attitude and tends to puts in the wrong order or an incomplete order or I have even seen him give the wrong order to thee wrong person. When you ask for food being tastefully spicy, he ends up putting a smirk on his face and food can hardly be eaten and on other instances food is not spicy. Most disappointing is the curry dishes don’t taste the same from order to order. There must be a huge turnover in chefs. Avoid if flexibility offers opportunity to drive 15 – 20 min for other better options for good Indian food. Also catering orders don’t include rice… Which they charge extra for. Utterly ridiculous considering their catering menu prices are inflated relative to what you get with other restaurants where there’s is no nickle and diming. Contrary to some other reviews, I would say their tandoori dishes are pretty good; hence star. Overall, Not recommended unless you have no other options for good Indian food.

I have never quite seen a place which can be so erratic with food taste. They started with a bang several years ago and you could lick your fingers off the plate. It lost its mojo in between and then for the past year, it’s been a Jekyll and Hide story. Ordered three veggie options: yellow lentils, stuffed peppers, and oven roasted eggplant. Lentils were superb — spicy and hot — quite possibly the only consistently good entrée here. The stuffed and pan-roasted peppers with cheese and tomatoes was unique but not very zesty for an expat palate. Roasted eggplant was a mess. Did not taste fresh at all. Management did make partial amends by striking off that item from the check. Left a bad taste — quite literarily lol! Oh the place is so convenient and fast paced that I would love for them to be consistently good with their preparations. Will keep trying and update if we have few good experiences in a row! Note2Mgt: there is a need to tighten the taste and quality controls.

These ppl are in serious need of customer service training. Ordered samosas and tandori chicken. On the online order notes I made it clear I was allergic to cheese and to sub the cheese samosa with potato ONLY!!! they obviously didn’t see the note and had the nerve to tell me I had to make a new order if I want all potato samosa. Came home right away and opened a dispute with AMEX! And went to bombay spice and got my samosa. They were more than happy to have my business. The tandoori chicken was dry and not even edible. This place is gross save your money. Instead of being disappointed. They are not even worth 1 star

Great place for lunch. They have a rotating daily special«platter» option. Usually it is 3 meat and 3 vegetarian options. If you choose one of these you will have your delicious food in about five minutes. Fresh naan, rice, and lentils come with it for around $ 10. Throw in a lassi or dessert and you can hardly walk out the door! I stop here whenever I’m around for work. They have an extensive menu that takes a bit longer to get but nothing crazy. If you like Indian this is a great place. If you want to try Indian this is a great place.

The food was very good and it reminded me of Mom’s home cooking. Even though they seemed short staffed, they were quick, courteous and friendly. I will certainly come again. Thank Chef and staff for a great meal. Anna data, sukhi bhava.

I went to dine in recently, and learnt a lesson I would strongly like to recommend paneer lovers, to never order ‘Paneer Kundan Kalia’. The dumplings were so hard, which gave us a feeling that it was not cooked well. Furthermore, when asked for justification we were responded by a mere gesture rather than complete explanation. When ordered other panneer entrée(they did not replace it, had to order seperately) it had the same gravy. I was embarassed infront of my friends who wanted to taste some good indian food for the first time. I was under the impression, that it would be a good place to dine, but it turned me down. Paw bhaji was not at all done to taste. Dissapointed! Not going again there. Be cautious about their food!!!

First, let me preface by stating that I don’t have a lot of experience eating at Indian restaurants, but of the few I’ve been to, this is by far the best. A good spot for ‘newbies’ or ‘first-timers’ to Indian cuisine(and I presume ‘veterans’), Hurry Chutney has a pretty extensive menu and staff that will patiently explain to you what everything is. The food is cooked to order and oh so flavorful! Spice levels are on point. Portion sizes are perfect and everything comes in a ‘to go’ container so that if you have the willpower to stop yourself, you have some great leftovers for lunch(or an afternoon snack) the next day. Of the places I go to for lunch at work with coworkers, this has definitely been added to the rotation.

Solidly spicy take-out from Hurry Chutney was great! We ordered«medium» and all dishes were made the same way, not alarmingly hot but certainly not mild either, a perfect antidote to a miserably cold winter night. Great food for a very reasonable price. I especially recommend the Boti Kabab, which was a generous portion of lamb cut into large pieces and thoroughly spicy, with a side of gently flavored rice too. See pic. The meat had been treated to a proper spice infusion that didn’t vanish in the oven, not over roasted either, just perfect and pretty much a steal at $ 11.50. Curries were outstanding. I’m trying to forget how much heavy cream was in the Lauki Ki Kofta — squash dumplings in a golden-yellow curry sauce with a generous side of rice, perfectly spiced, great, enough for 2 people is just $ 10. Rajma? It was delicious, new to me, they call it curry, I call it vegetarian chili — red kidney beans with onion, tomato and garlic, plenty of heat but not the load of cumin and chili power in a typical chili. And only $ 9. Naan was huge, soft and mysteriously still hot despite the car ride home, great for mopping up that curry. There’s no cream or butter in that curry, nah, that’s a myth, have some more naan :) Vegetarian rating: 5 stars for the vast number of interesting choices. It doesn’t hurt at all to order in Hindi. I can’t quite manage that trick but benefitted from dining with people who can.
