I am such a fan of Sally Beauty Supply stores. I’ve been coloring my own hair for years and it’s a major save to get salon supplies to use right at home. I also love all the tools and specialty products they carry. Whether you’re stopping in for your hair or nails, Sally has everything you need. They also have makeup, but it’s all cheap/low quality makeup, so I don’t buy from here though if you’re not picky or brand loyal, they pretty much have everything you need in terms of makeup as well. In addition to finding nearly everything you could want in a beauty supply store, the prices are also totally reasonable if not very cheap. I haven’t dabbled in their generic hair product line but just noticed it today and will definitely give it a go. They have generics of Paul Mitchell, Aquage, etc. Yeah it’s a little ghetto, but who cares, it’s awesome if you’re a DIY beauty geek like me!

I love the Sally’s franchise, I shop there a lot, but this location in Somerville, sadly my closest sucks! I’m basing this assessment over multiple visits. The customer service sucks, I was just in there again and could not get anyone to help me because they were«too busy» and want to know what they were too busy doing? Chatting to each other(there was only one other customer in the store). I have never been I. There when it was actually busy i couldn’t even imagine. They rarely change and keep up to date their red sale signs. I bought color and developer because the sign said the developer was free, I noticed when I got home I was charged for it! So I had to go back, and when I did was told that sale ended a month before(arguably I should have read the tiny fine print; however there’s a HUGE difference in the POP signs being a day, or even a week past the sale(or before sometimes they put up before) and a month past the sale!) So now I have gotten into the habit of reading them to make sure the sale is actually correct. The visit I just made to Sally’s the sale signs were again 3 weeks PAST the sale end date, I couldn’t for the life of me find the color lock which is what I was looking for, and could I get some help? Nope! Ended up walking out not buying a thing because what’s the point? So why do I keep going there? Believe me it’s not for the customer service! I just can’t find an easily accessible Sally’s in Cambridge so I have a lack of options! I have been to many other Sally’s with out problem, but this store is going to make me stop shopping at Sally’s all together!

I’m a fan of Sally’s because they carry everything I need to stay blonde and beautiful. But this store could use some help with quicker check out lines. That’s all.

I want to start this off by saying that I have never written a review on Unilocal before because I can usually let go of bad experience and just never return to the particular business that I didn’t like, but today is an exception. love to go to Sally’s stores to buy all sorts of beauty supplies but this is by far the worst one I have ever been to. That is sad because this store has a lot if potential. It’s the only one in the Boston area that is easily accessible by public transportation. I went there, very excited to buy extensions. When I walked in I was not welcomed ATALL. There were two African American girls standing at the front just chatting, not greeting their only customer– me. Whatever that’s fine I don’t need you to say hi to me but some people would appreciate a sales associate acknowledging them when they walk in the door. I walked over to the extensions and started looking when another sales associate came around the corner. I asked her for help and she seemed happy enough to help me, but was not very knowledgable at all. She kept asking the other girls for help and they would pause their conversation about smoking cigarettes(gross) to give her a short response then continue gossiping. They were beyond rude. It made me uncomfortable to even be in the store, these two girls at the front. I gathered from eavesdropping that they both work there but one was off duty. They were talking about how one of their daughters got expelled from summer school and I’m honestly not surprised because these two women were pretty much the scum of the earth. The girl who helped me continued being nice and finally helped me find what I wanted. You could tell she was doing her best but she was also uncomfortable with the two girls near the register. I just got home and realized that even though I said I wanted clip in extensions multiple times, these ones do not have the clips attached and I will have to return to Sally’s to now buy clips. I am not blaming the girl who helped me because she seemed very inexperienced but the girls at the front obviously knew what they were talking about and were choosing to gossip instead of helping their customers. Whoever is running this store needs to look for new sales associates ASAP.

all-time fav beauty store. i dye my hair like a woman possessed, and the selection of color here cannot be beat. the ladies who work here are really helpful, and they always say nice things about my pup when he’s tied up outside(this is the easiest way to get on my good side, FYI). definitely put out the $ 5 for the beauty club card; the savings are huge and you can use it online, too.

They carry a variety of products for all different hair types. This is the one place to find whatever you need and redeem coupons & save when you use your Sally’s card.

This is my go-to place for shampoo & conditioner. They have GREAT stuff for CHEAP! Big bottles of generic stuff that’s the same as the expensive stuff! This is also a great place to go for a good selection of brushes, hair curlers, etc. I’ll have to go back to check out their selection of cheap makeup — Thanks, Cara P!

Big five stars!!! Yes, even if you are not licensed… you can shop at Sally’s. Don’t be fooled by the surrounding stores(Dots, Family Dollar –i love BTW-) in Twin City Plaza… dont be scared of the homeless guy sleeping in the ATM machine… run past the kids canning for money… block your ears from the family of thirty all fighting with each other… run quick through the parking lot-the cars don’t stop. Wear sneakers… just trust me on this… And last… clutch your pocket book tighter than a cheerleaders french braid… aside from the obstacles… you can find some AWESOME things here. This is my best of the best list: –hairbrushes –hair color(ION is the best) don’t be scared to DIY. 2 oz developer to one bottle of color…20−30 minutes. No biggie!!! Use #30 developer for regular color/grey…#40 if you are going lighter… it is so much cheaper to DIY! Oh and the ION color comes out darker than normal, so buy a shade lighter than you normally would –AHA/BHA face scrub(AWESOME) –Chocolate tanning mouse(FAKEBAKEDUPE) –Nail Polish –Polish Remover –Sally’s makeup… only a dollar for lip gloss, lipstick, eye shadow… cool if you are going to get a color you won’t wear ALL the time –tweezer, nail clippers –hair treatments –ION hard water shampoo and conditioner… a MUST for those showering in Boston and surrounding areas… the water sucks! –Name brand dupes for hair products-they all work great –Hair dryers, straight irons, rollers –Palladio face powder –Venetian Hot oil treatment –Dry shampoo spray –pedicure stuff… there is a scrub called the terminator and foot cream in a «tub» with an orange cap… but these two things with the RED swedish clover file(I think that’s the name) and your feet with be like a baby’s ass… no lie! PS…pay for the green savings card. it is five dollars, but the coupons ROCK! And last… have fun… you can return ANYTHING with a receipt… it’s all good in the hood!
