I came here for the first time yesterday and got the Spicy Wafu ramen. While I’m not typically a fan of mushrooms, the ones in this dish were actually very good. The pork belly was very tender and easy to eat, unlike pork belly I have had in the past which was kind of a chore to break into smaller pieces. The broth was very tasty, but before I got full I felt that the meal was too heavy and I couldn’t eat anymore. But it was delicious. Also the spiciness was pretty average.

I don’t like giving one star reviews but I went in today at 9:20 and the lady said it was a 25 minute wait implying we would be seated at 9:45 and that was okay. we only had to wait a minute and a spot opened up so they seated us. when I wanted to order I asked if I could substitute pork belly that comes with the ramen for an egg And they said no. this didn’t really make sense to me because I saw that the pork belly was $ 4 as an add on while an egg was like $ 1 or something like that. I asked if I could have a few more minutes to re evaluate what I wanted because I couldn’t make that substitution. the waiter told me I had to hurry up because they were closing soon and I found it to be rude. especially because it wasn’t even 9:45 and originally they were going to SEAT us then. I love ramen and wish I got to try this ramen but the service was so awful. I just walked out. I am reluctant to come ever again.

Love their pork belly bun and the dipping source ramen(forgot the name, 1st on the menu). Worth the price!

My wife and I have been here several times now. We usually each get the miso ramen, but I have the nitamago boiled egg and she has the soft boiled egg, the nitamago boiled egg is served already in the bowl while the soft boiled egg is in a separate dish. I like scallions and she doesn’t, but otherwise we get the same thing, We always find someone ready to take our order and never have to wait very long for our food. We’ve sat at the bar and also at the long communal table, but either way we’ve never had trouble finding a seat. There are moist towelettes provided for washing our hands before each meal, and plenty of spicy seasonings are provided because I like my ramen to be very spicy. The serving sizes are also very satisfiying and I can say with absolute certainty that we’ve never left hungry.

I had the miso soup with pork belly, and a soft egg. The noodles were good, soft with a slight chew to it. The miso broth was very rich and a little creamy, delicious but a little too salty. My favorite thing about my ramen bowl was the pork belly, packed with flavor and fat, yum! Overall the ramen was average and the service was ok. It’s at a convenient location in Davis square.

I would’ve given this three stars had my girlfriend and I both not ended up sick a few hours after we ate here. I got the miso ramen and she got the dashi, and we both regretted it. It might have just been a bad day for them– the place looked super clean, not sketchy at all– but still, I’m not likely to chance it again to find out.

The ramen are absolutely amazing . !!! Warning: one of Japanese waiter are horrible. Four of friends go there for dinner. One is parking outside. He said we can’t seat until the 4th person came in. … We just standing in front of bar desk over 40minutes !! Never ever embarrassed like this ! No even basic polite for custom. Idk what to say.

I love this place. My boyfriend and I crave their food and have been back many times since our first trip there, and it’s become one of my favorite spots to eat in Boston. The miso ramen is absolutely my favorite. The broth is silky and rich(but not overly rich in a heavy sense, and not excessively oily either). The noodles are the perfect slightly firm texture. The chicken is soooo good, and so moist, and I love the change from the usual pork. Also, I am one of those people who hate mushrooms — but I actually love the mushrooms in this. Wood ear mushrooms, I think. I love coming here on a cold day when it’s raining or snowing. It has the coziest atmosphere, and the glass storefront completely steams up with condensation from the heat. The communal table is also a really unique and cozy touch. I don’t mind sitting next to strangers and I like having the chopsticks, napkins, cups and water close at hand. The staff is always friendly and attentive as well. I literally have no complaints!

Yes, I am fan. It took several tries to get here when they are actually open. I’m not sure how they stay in business with such limited hours. That aside, WOW. That was some of the tastiest noodle soup I’ve had to date. I ordered some sort of spicy pork ramen(with a soft egg). Boy oh Boy oh Boy. It was awesome. Really flavourful with just the right amount of heat. The pork belly was well cooked and tasty. I am a fan and I will definitely be back Most definitely.

I tried the pomodoro and spicy wafu ramen. The pomodoro was interesting but I wouldn’t say it was a hit. The broth had an intense tomato flavor. The ramen was topped with a lot of baby arugula that gave it a bitter finish, which i felt was not necessary as the tomato soup was already very intense and slightly bitter. The noodles in the pomodoro ramen were of the thick variety and while eating it, I felt like I was eating linguini rather than ramen. That said, I was pleasantly surprised with the spicy wafu ramen. With tonkotsu-based ramen, I usually have my reservations as the broth can be too thick and oily and, with a spicy variant, they usually top it with chilli oil which makes it even more greasy. But Snappy’s spicy wafu broth was very rich without being excessively oily; the depth of flavor seemed to come from the large amount of spices in the mix. The pork slices were also very tasty, well-braised and juicy and considerably leaner than offerings from other ramen joints. The ramen noodles that came with these were thinner and soaked up the broth nicely to produce a filling but not cloying staple. Service was quick and relatively efficient, no complaints on that front.

Food: 3.0÷5.0 Service: 3.0÷5.0 Value: 3.0÷5.0 Décor: 3.0÷5.0 Overall: 3.0÷5.0 I’m a big believer in tsukemen. Unfortunately(or fortunately), my reference point for tsukemen is Rokurinsha(drool…). The ramen here is pretty Americanized and honestly just okay. I’d come here again, but wouldn’t go out of my way to do so. The pork buns are fine — reasonably flavorful, but the pork was a little dry in the center, etc. Some of the other reviews highlighted very good execution on the boiled egg, and I concur and would recommend adding this to your bowl.

My girlfriend and I came here when the wait at Yume was too long. I like that we got seated right away and I like the self service of water and utensils. The service was good and the layout of the restaurant was nice. However, I was not a big fan of their ramen. Having had yume and ganko, I feel Snappy is not as good as them. I only had the miso ramen so it’s possible there are other options on the menu that are good. I’m not a big fan of combining chicken and miso, I feel pork would’ve been a better combination. Also, arugula should not be added to any ramen broth because it’s bitter and overpowers the taste of the broth. Overall, it’s an alright place for ramen but there are better options out there.

I love this place. It is hands down my favorite ramen place. Sooooo so good. I generally go for the dashi ramen, and it never disappoints me. Plus, the addons that you can get really allow for you to make your ramen your own. The soup base is perfect, and the noodles are always cooked just right. Not to mention the amazing soft boiled eggs. If you haven’t been here, you’re missing out.

While it was an improvement from the former Snappy Sushi, I found Snappy Ramen just okay. Also note that there is very little in the realm of «authentic» at this restaurant. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing, but I don’t think the ambiance or the flavors reflect a Japanese ramen experience. I had the miso ramen, which came with chicken(I usually prefer pork but I wanted to try the miso broth) and was pleasantly surprised by how moist the chicken was. However, I was underwhelmed by the broth, which is probably the most crucial part of what makes a bowl of ramen good. However, their egg was perfect, the best ramen egg I have had in Boston. Their pork buns are also delicious.

On a mission to try *all* of the ramen places around Cambridge. So far, this place has the most flavorful ramen. The spicy soup is actually spicy. I had the Miso ramen, which was very filling. This place is on the pricier side, but the quality is there. Only questionable part of the meal was paying $ 2 for an onsen(?) egg that I may or may not try again. Unclear.

Compared with other ramen places nearby(e.g. Wagamama, Santouka), the ramen here is less salty but still flavored. I had the miso and it was really good. Just a heads up, they won’t seat you until everyone of your group is here.

I’ve been here 2 times & both times I was very satisfied. I like how we get to check off what we want in our ramen and what kind of drink we would like. I had the Spicy Wafu both times, and it was soooo filling! It’s a small place, but very cozy inside. I would def come back to eat again!

Visiting from Austin, I had heard a lot about the Boston Asian food scene. Thus, ramen was definitely on the to eat list. Finding parking did not take that long and we were seated right away. Expecting a long line, we were pleasantly surprised with how quickly we were seated. There was a huge table in the middle and a couple of 2 people tables on the sides. This is where our experience started to sour a little. There was a menu and water on the table for us but the server wasn’t seen for the next 25 minutes. This was not acceptable as the place wasn’t even busy. I kept staring at him and eventually he realized that we weren’t served yet and were his table. They have one veggie option for ramen and bun each and I decided to try both. The ramen broth was delicious and had various components such as the tofu skin and the noodles which I believe are made in house. But if you’re going to make it the most expensive ramen on the menu, I expected it would be more wholesome such as some more variety in the veggies offered. But that said it was still good food but I wish they had a couple of more drink options and appetizers! Therefore the food I ate was 4 stars and the bad service cost one star, thus my 3 star rating

I’ve tried a lot of the ramen places around Boston, as well as a couple times while lucky enough to visit Japan earlier this year. I tend to always get the spicy wafu or the pomodoro, which has a tomato-based broth. The spicy wafu has very flavorful smoked pork and great spicy broth. The pomodoro is pretty unique and I’m not quite used to the tomato but it’s grown on me. The place has a pretty unique Japan-like ambiance — cool paintings and Japanese style art on the wall, as well as a large communal seating area. What I actually really like about the communal seating area is that all the utensils and water is right there for you so you don’t have to wait for a server if things get busy(some might see as a drawback, but I’m pretty ok with serving myself water). The ingredients are top quality in my book, which I think leaves the price to be reasonable. I will be going back again soon — and soon after that.

This place is small but very clean and nice ! The vegetable bun was tasty and delicious! I had the spicy wafu ! It’s not very very spicy but it’s just the right amount! The sauce/broth was tasty and very delicious! The pork meat was nice and smoky. Service is fast and nice. Prices are correct! Must back to try the other ramen !

I tried Snappy Ramen when it was still Snappy Sushi. As a sushi place, they weren’t really anything to write home about, but as a Ramen place: yum! The inside doesn’t have many tables and leans towards more communal seating(like in Japan). The Ramen was delicious! We started with vegetable bins which aren’t really buns but round pillowy disks that gave seasons and marinated vegetables on top. You roll it like a taco and eat with your hands. It makes a delicious appetizer The presentations and quality of the Ramen is top notch. The ingredients are fresh(can’t really fake fresh greens) and the meat is full of flavor. It’s a tad on the pricey side for Ramen, but you shouldn’t be disappointed by quality, taste and presentation. I’ll definitely be going back.

Snappy Ramen serves several styles of ramen including: — Tsukemen — a dipping ramen — Pomodoro — a fusion ramen with a pork and tomato-based broth — Veggie Shoyu — a veggie broth — Miso — Dashi — Spicy Wafu — a spicy broth I ordered the Spicy Wafu ramen with a soft boiled egg(which is served on the side). The spicy broth was good and spicy, but it lacked a full bodied flavor. It tasted more spicy than flavorful, but it’s really not that spicy — it’s just the only flavor you taste. Its toppings weren’t my favorite either. The cabbage was strange and I opted out of the arugula that it normally comes with. It could have used some other included toppings. My fiancé’s miso broth was very good and full of flavor, but it’s served with chicken though which I thought was strange. Overall, this place was good, but it wasn’t my favorite. I’ve definitely had better and the prices were a little on the high side. Its communal tables are interesting, but makes dining with a larger group troublesome. We were in a group of 3, and we actually got the only table for 2 which they added a chair to, so it was a bit tight. I wouldn’t come here again. There’s got to be better ramen in Boston.

Overall, It was an okay experience. The ramen was good but I thought the portion they gave us was not up to par with its pricing. 15 bucks for spicy wafu. 7 bucks for 2 pieces of pork bun. I wanted to give the place 3 stars, but I really liked the meat in the ramen, so +1 star. This place isn’t that good nor is it bad. But I wouldn’t recommend it, too pricey.

Since I have very high standard for ramen, I had doubts about snappy before actually coming here. Since the reviews about pomodoro ramen are pretty good, I ordered it along with onsen egg. I came in on a Wednesday night and apparently all ramen costs $ 9(onsen egg $ 2) on Wednesdays, not sure about other days. Anyways, the presentation of the noodles looked very different from what I’m used to the usual broth and char shiu. The noodles here are separated from the sauce/broth, which is much thicker than the usual broth. Oh btw, the noodles smelled like sesame oil, yum! Anyways, I poured the entire bowl of sauce/broth onto my noodles, OMG everything tasted heavenly! The sauce was both thick and sour enough for my appetite and the noodles are chewy. I finished the entire bowl in about 5 minutes because it was so delicious(but also because I was very hungry). I will definitely come back!

They put corn in their ramen. It was aight. I mean as a woman from the Caribbean, I like corn to accompany my pork or chicken or beef, but something about corn in ramen seemed off. I am by no means an expert in ramen, but like the texture of corn and noodles didn’t go well.

Moderately okay — if I lived around here like I did before, I’d probably come a couple more times. But now that I live in west metro, I wouldn’t come out of my way to come here. The rundown: Service was sloppy and slow, far from the«snappy» service like I expected. Two servers, but limited seating, so it should have been easily manageable. We also sat at the bar, so I would expect we’d be hard to miss, yet our order was forgotten after we gave it. They brought us the wrong ramen instead after noticing we were sitting here for about 20 minutes and other people were getting their ramen before us, and when we corrected that what they brought to us wasn’t what we ordered, they had to make it again. Food wasn’t horrible — the pork buns were too dry(both the pork was dry, and there was a lack of sauce). The ramen variety however was fun — lots of different types to try, ranging from your standard shio ramen and miso ramen, to a hearty tomato-pork based broth and even to a cold dipping ramen! Fun variety, so points for that. In terms of the food, we ordered the Spicy Wafu Ramen, which was too spicy that it masked the pork broth flavor and the Tomato-Based(Pomodoro) Pork Ramen, which actually had a surpringly yummy soup base. The noodles were chewy and egg-based, which is a plus for us, but the pork wasn’t anything special(again, dry). We also noted one of the ramen, as a meat topping, had chicken breast. … um what. That’s just weird, and I can’t imagine that to go well with any type of traditional /fusion ramen. I’d rather get the not-very-good-tasting pork than that blanchy white chicken breast I see the chef putting into some bowls. The shining highlight of the night however was their Nitamago boiled egg. Literally, the best ramen egg I’ve had in Boston. The core was a molten, jellied yolk that blasted with flavor — the egg would be the sole reason for me to come here again and try another bowl. Last note, if available at the time you get there, they have a bar table where you can watch the chefs prepare the ramen. Always a fun experience, I love booth/bar options when you can see the chefs work, it’s a real art in most places!

Came in on a cold winter’s day because it looked warm. After all, the windows were sweating. The place is warm. Our party of 4 was immediately seated at a small table and we may have disappointed our waiter by not ordering a drink early on a Tuesday night. The waiter was pretty terse and didn’t seem to want to help us order. I ordered the Tsukemen. Tasted fine going down, although there was much more sauce than I could sop up. I got either a 24-hour stomach virus the next day or food poisoning. I hope it was a virus.

I crack up whenever I walk by and see the so-not-subtle RAMEN half of the sign that they slapped on top of the SUSHI half. You’re not fooling anyone, Snappy, but A+ for effort. I really enjoyed my ramen here — I got the basic one. There were several delicious mushrooms in there, and I was able to eat the whole bowl without feeling like a ball of pork grease. I like the layout too, with the large table and water pitchers.

Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of «real» ramen. I only knew packaged ramen growing up and through college. When I finally tried actual ramen, I was overwhelmed by how thick and salty and dense it was, and was not a fan. That being said, I actually enjoyed the ramen here. Maybe it’s because I got the vegetable broth, but overall the dish was an appropriate level of flavorful, and I could drink the broth without feeling gross. It’s a small place so there’s limited seating. Check it out!

Came on the MLK holiday for lunch. It is a small space with limited seating. The interior is cute and cozy. Luckily it wasn’t too busy when we arrived with our group of 6 plus baby(they have high chairs). I ordered the Spicy Wafu. The noodle texture is very important to me when eating ramen. I thought that their noodles were well cooked(the absolute worst is when the noodle are over cooked and too soft!). I thought the spicy wafu broth was pretty good but nothing too memorable. I wish the broth was a bit spicier. Not sure if there is an option to make it more spicy, might be worth asking if you like spicier dishes like I do. The most memorable parts of their ramen was the pork belly(so soft and juicy) and their half-boiled egg. 3 stars because I don’t have a strong enough incentive to come back here again just for their ramen. I’d rather explore the other many ramen places in the Somerville area. Their pricing is also a bit steep in my opinion. Our separate check of 4 ramen, 1 coke, and pork buns came out to $ 75 without tip.
