Great food great atmosphere the best Sushi by far

Food is pretty good. Nothing really stands out except the shrimp appetizer. Desserts are good too.

So glad I hosted my wife’s birthday at Social. The place is gorgeous. The service was great. Food was very good. And my wife and guests had an incredible time. Many thanks to the staff for making this special occasion so memorable!!!

Hands down one of the best places to go in Somerville New Jersey. I have been there at least a dozen times and not once have I been disappointed with the food or the service. Last night social social hosted my mother’s 75^th surprise birthday party and the food was amazing, the service was amazing and they work with your budget absolutely did not break the bank. If you’re looking for a nice upscale place to bring a date or significant other and sit down have a amazing meal and a drink this is your spot. If you’re looking for a beer garden with 40 beers on tap and 19 year olds with fake IDs this is not the place to go don’t bother. I cannot understand how this place can get anything but five star reviews.

I come to Social all the time. I especially love how friendly the Bartenders are. The martinis and Sushi is definitely the best in town. The bartenders make our experience here a lot more fun that’s why we choose to sit at the bar verses table. If there were 6 stars they would get it!!!

I love Social! I’m always greeted with a smile and a hand shake. The sushi is phenomenal! Happy hour, dinner… I always feel taken care of. 5+ stars. Mmmmmm

Decided to try Social since Ovations (sister/​brother resturant) in South Bound Brook is one of my favorites. Social is in a very convenient location. Right off Gaston next to the rite aid and DMV in Somerville. Smart Choice. It is busy which was off-​putting compared to Ovations which is right across the street from the canal. I love sitting outside at Ovations since the atmosphere is relaxing and pretty. My boyfriend, mother and I had early reservations (I always do early to get best tables and service) so we got to pick a booth which was in the back. I enjoyed the dim lighting and modern furniture. The dining room was fairly small but that makes for a more cozy atmosphere. The menu is very similar to Ovations but I have to say I like Ovations menu better. The gnocchi mac and cheese appetizer is amazing at Ovations. I am not sure if both are themed differently but they seem to be a mix of all different kinds of food from asian to Italian to American. They do have the same sushi. Love the sophia roll. My boyfriend got the buffalo chicken spheres. They were eh. Mostly breading with very little taste. You had to dip them in the hot blue cheese sauce for them to pop. We also had the calamari which was on point. For dinner I had the swordfish with ginger soy sauce. It was tough and I did not really enjoy it. My boyfriend had the social burger and it was wayyyy too thick. He would not recommend. In this day in age Social should know its not the size but the quality and flavor that matters. Trying to stick a burger larger than your mouth into your mouth is not fun or appetizing. Especially if it lacks creativity and flavor. My mother had braised beef. It was amazing. Cant go wrong with that dish. All in all the food is hit or miss. I did not visit the bar area which is apparently very poppin. When I left there was strobe lights and a DJ going off which was surprising. I guess this establishment is mostly for the bar area and to meet other people aka «Social.» I will definitely have to get a drink there next time just for the expirence.

I have eaten here 3 times. Once with a friend, once with my husband and once with my whole family. The first two visits were great. The food was delicious and the drinks good. The third time, I had a veal dish that was so salty it was almost inedible. I didn’t return it because my son got sick and we had to leave abruptly, but I would not order it again. Perhaps it was a bad day but I have found the food to be a bit overly salty in general. And over priced.

Bartenders suck at this place, terrible service, no personality and lack customer service. Food is ok. Sushi was 3.5÷5, prices are ⁴⁄₅. Not sure if I’ll return.

Loved it! Went in for some appetizers. Split the crab cake, goat cheese and artichoke dip and the gnocchi bolognese. Everything was so delicious, we ate everything! Oh, and they start you off with bread and this delicious red pepper sauce. The bread wasn’t my favorite, but who cares?! Free snacks to start– I’m in!
Will absolutely go back!
Only downside was that we sat near the bar, granted it was a Thursday night but it was really entirely too loud. Rowdy crowd. Would have preferred the other dining room but we made due.

More like a cafeteria than a bar. They had a private party on our first visit there and kicked out the regular guests to make room for them. Owner is a classless idiot. Never again. Stay away like they had the bubonic plague.

My friends and I came here for a going away party and we had such a great time. The service was friendly and accommodating. They have a great drink menu and good variety for appetizers and entrees. The short ribs were delicious and so was the salmon. It’s a great addition to Somerville, we’ll definitely be back again.

Average food, service is friendly, location and parking is convenient. The bar has a nice set up. I had sushi here and was not overly impressed but not dissappointed either. This is a good place for an average meal and a decent drink if youre local. I will go back again and give some other food choices a try.

This place is in my neighborhood and I have never been. Went tonight on a date with my husband. Excellent atmosphere. Happening without being obnoxious. My date had the short ribs. Tender and delicious. I have gluten and dairy issues. So they made me dairy free seafood risotto that was to die for.
Highly recommend this place for a date or for dinner and drinks with friends.

Despite the fact that I live just a block or two away, I typically avoid Social. I’ve had food at the bar and ordered dinner and found it to be mostly forgettable. Don’t bother ordering anything with tortilla chips because they are terribly stale.
My main complaint… how do you have a bar with no beer on tap? I understand that their specialty is martinis, but they have no beer taps at all. This might be excusable if there was a good selection of bottled beer, but it’s mostly just budwiser, miller lite and the like. The once or twice I tried the specialty martinis they were okay but not something I would order again.
The bar ambiance is similar to an upscale hotel bar with some tvs that are usually playing news or sports.

I came here Saturday night for a friend’s birthday party. First, I have to say I love the décor at this place! It’s very modern.
Four of us came early to have dinner first. The food was good and service was quick… I had a glass of wine and the coconut martini. It was delicious! For a Saturday night, there were very few people there. Maybe I’m just used to the NYC crowds…
We moved over the bar area when the rest of our party started to showed up. There were about 10 of us total and we sat at the bar. Our bartender was very accommodating — I asked her to put the NHL playoffs on and she went back several times to check/​change the channel for me. Overall, a good experience!

Came in for a quick snack so 3 stars is based on one visit. We had the «house» chips, which turned out to be stale chips from a bag. They sell sushi but because of the stale chips I would never try it. The guacamole and salsa that came with it was good. The guacamole was the best part.
The bar service was good, but the glass for my beer was warm.
Overall nice place, but could use improvements.

I had a previous horrible experience and did not return to this establishment for a year. However, I have since recently returned for their happy hour, twice, and I can say that my view has definitely changed.
When they are busy, the servers do get a little irritable, but I can understand that. When it’s slow, they are absolutely great.
Great happy hour value as well with a unique cocktail list that I’ll return for!!! I’m converted.

I wanted to become a regular here like the guys on Cheers. If my schedule actually allowed it, I would have really made it happen. They have a nice happy hour and the bartenders and staff are all nice and welcoming. I love the interior designs and color choices. I’ve never been in the restaurant part, so I can’t comment on that. The bar can fill up pretty quickly at times but it’s never a rowdy crowd. And if you don’t mind having a light conversation with a complete stranger while you munch on apps, this may be the bar for you.
