The Steak Out came highly recommended by locals. We shared a T-bone. I have not eaten one in many years, and this is about as good as it gets. Lead off with their cowboy salad, with ranch dressing, family style. The steak was lightly flavored with salt and pepper, it needed no other seasoning. We shared the steak, on their partner plate option, and had more then enough between us. This is a first class joint, worthy of your visit.

Quite disappointed with our experience. It is located at the main intersection as you enter Sonoita, and there are few options so it was packed. Ordered a rack of ribs and a rib eye(medium rare). The ribs were dry, and the steak… when the waitress served it, she said«here’s your New York» and I immediately replied«don’t you mean Rib Eye?» Well she was correct, if it was a rib eye cut, it was more on the short loin. She seemed to avoid us afterward, but we flagged her down and she had a new steak prepared for us and that cut and preparation was awesome. The 3 star rating was because of the experience, I would have given it 4 stars had the correct cut and temp been served initially, but not a 5 star rating because of their ribs.

Located in the heart of Soniota, right off the road. This is a Cowboys steakhouse. Cement floors… wood siding… Animal heads galore. First impression, the smell of steaks cooking hits ya! And that’s a good thing, for you want a damn good steak! Service is a tad slow… Today, two waitresses and a runner. Packed. Drinks and salad came out relatively fast… Don’t expect high end! This is a local joint, the individually wrapped butter servings and pre made dinner rolls confirms it. Be weary if you notice tables w/o food… There’s a back up. Patience will be a virtue here. The two cooks look a bit overwhelmed. We sat for a good 20+ minutes for our food. The chicken was cooked well, my steak as well but we weren’t too happy cause apparently they were sitting up on the counter a few so both meals were luke warm. Sad. Great taste… The fries are real! Just cut! Awesome bit any pieces too big, need to be cooked longer or they come out hard and ugh. I’d love to give more stars! Again, my steak came out perfectly portioned… Seasoned… But luke warm. Ugh. Service needs at least two more ha

Came here with a group of friends after touring a few wineries for the day… we were hungry. It was a Saturday evening, so given how big our party was(14 ppl) we had to wait a bit for some tables to open up. They told us it wouldn’t be long cause theyd just sit us in the back room, «just needed to move the tables around», that took bout 15 – 20 minutes… When we were finally seated, it took a while for a waitress to come by for drink orders, about another 10 – 15 minutes. By then, we all kinda knew what we wanted to eat, so we all put in our orders as well. Long story short, we waited forever for our food… luckily they came out with salad and bread(again after waiting 10 – 15 minutes in between) to hold us over. Plus in between all this, the waitress hardly came to check on us. They left water pitchers on the tables so we could serve ourselves, so I guess they thought we would need anything? Anywho, everyone’s food finally came. Ok, I ordered the half rack of ribs… I have to say, although they were good, it was a bit cold, like it had been sitting for a while. I didn’t say anything cause we already waited forever, & I was super hungry. Haha. Everyone else seemed pleased with their food. Only one gal said that the apple sauce that was given with her pork chops was ice cold(gave her a brain freeze swallowing it). Haha. Entertainment was great. There was a live band playing… that was a plus. The décor was pretty cool too. All in all, I gave this place 3 stars cause the ambience was nice, food was ok, but service was not on point. We got there at 6 and left a little after 9! We waited a long time for our checks to come too. They were pretty busy, but that doesn’t mean that service needs to be bad. I may give it another try next time I’m in town, with a smaller party perhaps?

I’ve been to this restaurant twice, and twice I had an awful experience. I’d heard good reviews, so I decided to take a friend who was visiting from out of state. The restaurant was virtually empty, but that didn’t stop us from waiting 15 minutes to be seated, and another 15 before the server even came and took our drink order. We waited 45 minutes for our food, and when we got it, the steak was burned and the fries were soggy and cold. I tried to get the server’s attention, but she ignored us for 20 minutes, then brought the bill. When I asked for a manager, I was told there was no manager, so I paid and left, vowing never to return. The second time I went because my friend said it was her favorite place ever… We had the same experience as my first visit: a long wait to be seated in an empty restaurant, a long wait for our orders, and loooong wait for our food. When we got our food, it was burned and cold. An added bonus was that we found not one, but two hairs in our food. One in her fries, and one in my sour cream. Also, the wine my friend ordered had literal flecks of dirt in the glass, and the wine was incredibly stale. When I finally got the server’s attention, she refused to take the stale, dirty wine off the bill, and said that the two hairs in our food were probably ours. I asked to speak with a manager and we were told that there were no managers, and no way to call the managers. I absolutely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Ever. Unless, of course, you like being treated like scum, eating dirt, and paying $ 35 for a burned steak.

The steak here is amazing! You know the steak is on point when you don’t need any sort of sauce to go with it because the seasoning is perfect. This has always been the case when I’ve dined here! I also enjoyed the bread and the salad they served here. I wasn’t a huge fan of the beans, but they still weren’t too bad. The steak alone will get this place five stars in my book, as long as they keep cooking it the way they do. The live music was also a pretty nice touch. We enjoyed hearing the band as we enjoyed our steaks!

I was struggling between two and three stars. I’ll try three since 2.5 isn’t an option. Here’s why: Two of my friends and I ordered our steaks medium rare across the board. One had his steak almost well done, the other was almost rare and mine was medium. That’s a fail trifecta! Sadly we didn’t say anything about it. We should have, in retrospect. Even so my medium ribeye was still palatable. The mesquite they use for grilling come through well. I’d give it another try but won’t have my hopes high.

I ended up at the Steak Out more or less by accident, when the nearby restaurant I wanted to visit was closed. Still, no regrets, as I enjoyed the steak sandwich and«fries», and the service was excellent. The Steak Out is dark enough inside to feel like you’re eating dinner even when it’s early afternoon. The décor lets you know up right up front: these people know about meat. The walls are lined with the heads of cows, deer, buffalo, javelina, and more. The door says«no smoking», but this was one of the smokiest restaurants I’ve been to – not tobacco smoke, mind you, but smoke from the grill. Don’t let any of this deter you. The menu came printed on a brown paper bag, and I ordered the steak sandwich with fries. In truth, it was more steak than sandwich. But it was such a perfect steak that I had no trouble eating it like a sandwich. There were no tough bites, no bad parts anywhere. The fries were more like a potato that was par-baked, cut into seven pieces, then finished in the fryer. No complaints here. The best part was probably the drink refills. The waiter didn’t come by often, but another server was by frequently to check on the sodas. All in all, the Steak Out was better than I expected, and I wouldn’t mind stopping in here next time I’m driving through Sonoita.

I really like the Steak Out in Sonoita. I love the steak, especially the New York Strip. It is a splurge at almost $ 28, but I think it is worth it. The sides are included with the steak. I like to get the steak fries, but a baked potato is also a good choice. The salad that come to the table first is simple and good. Ranch dressing is the default, but I prefer getting the salad with Italian dressing. You can have bread with your steak, but I skip it. I have tried the steak sandwich and it is good too, but I prefer getting a steak dinner. If I am not feeling like so much meat, I split a steak. There is a split plate charge, but it is worth it because you get a second side and a side salad. The steaks are big enough to split. When you enter the restaurant the raw steak cuts are on display. Check out the size of those steaks! On our last visit we started with an order of fried zucchini and a side of sautéed mushrooms. Both of the appetizers were good, and we also had the included salads. The Steak Out does have burgers and sandwiches, but I come for the steak. I have eaten at the Steak Out many times. I really enjoy it. Not every visit has been perfect, but overall it is one of my favorite places to eat.

I read the reviews and I feel that expectations are a high end steak house since there are wineries near by. Review The outside looks like a cowboy saloon and the inside is more upscale than expected but very nice décor. The menu is simple and easy to make a selection. We ordered the petite sirloin steak medium and onion rings since the reviews were so good we had to try them. First we started with a large salad homemade ranch/blue cheese dressing and croutons. The salad was tasty also ask for the rolls very fresh and warm. The steak was ordered medium came out perfect. It didn’t need sauce if a steak does its garbage imho. Service It was Valentine’s Day so it was busy and the service was average at best. If it was a regular night I would have docked them for slow service. Take away If your hungry for a cowboy experience and a steak the steak out is perfect. If your looking for a hipster place to sip wine goto scottsdale.

Food was great! Had steak and a burger. Both where very good. Restaurant has a cool atmosphere. Lots of historical photos and paintings. Good place to stop on your way to Patagonia or Tombstone.
