This is the perfect place for a quiet afternoon or a BBQ party. What was most impressive is the fact that this sweet park is right behind the square in downtown Sonoma. You can get a bite to eat, shop, taste cheese, etc. in the square and then head over to the park to lay on the cool grass under a tree. The square in Sonoma does not allow dogs, but depot park is very dog friendly. It is 5 stars in my book!

I’m giving Depot Park 5 stars because it saved my ass after I told my 2 year old son we were going to see a train. I had really planned to take him to Train Town, but due to a slight drizzle(just barely a sprinkle!) they were closed the entire weekend. Anyone with a toddler knows you can’t break a promise, so luckily I remembered reading about this park. He loved climbing on the train, playing in the playground and most of all, the little museum. The woman who worked there was nice enough to open up early for us so we could get inside where it was warm and cozy. My son loved ringing the giant bell and running up and down the ramp at the entrance. This place is a cute little slice of history right in the middle of one of my favorite towns. :)

Depot is a cool, chill spot to have a BBQ, play horse shoes or patanque. Or you can sit back and relax and watch everyone else do it! There are all ages here playing in whatever they can to get into trouble. Lot’s of Coors light being consumed, chicken and beef being cooked. In the summer there is a game going on across the way. There are volley ball nets/sand pits to play on the other side of the depot. The museam is open during the day, lot of local Old Sonoma history. The train is cool to look at, climb on, what have you. The park is not huge but good size, localized, huge parking lot is connected to the and great for parties of all kinds. It is a family place so keep the debauchery to minimum.
