Excellent food and excellent vegan options. We ate here last night and we had a nearly perfect experience. They were a little reluctant about making our food spicy, but they listened when I was very clear that I didn’t want«American spicy». I seriously like extremely spicy food. The Alu Cauli was awesome, vegan, and super spicy, I loved it. The available wines could have been better, but the atmosphere helped balance that out. I’d definitely eat here again.

This was a quaint little restaurant located down a narrow alley which opens up to an outdoor eatery with a few different restaurants. It was a lively atmosphere in the outside seating area. The Tandoori Tiki and Vegetarian Coco Masala were extremely flavorful. The dish comes with naan or rice. The naan was not the best I have ever had, nor the service but food was overall enjoyable. Prices seemed fair for Himalayan food and casual dining was a nice experience.

Excellent service, good amount of food for the price. Their lunches come with rice, soup, and a huge piece of naan. Everything we had was very tasty, the lamb momo is extraordinary. I could eat a whole plate of those on my own, I definitely recommend!

Very fresh tasting food cooked on the spot. Very homie feeling — cozy. The service was a little confusing perhaps there was a bit of a language barrier. Good food and experience overall. The shared bathroom in the parking lot was not ideal.

The food is consistently delicious. I especially like the shekwa(chopped lamb with spices) and the pakoras. The starters are all fabulous, their portions are generous and I cannot eat at home for this quality and low price… I take home leftovers… The service is very, very good and makes me miss Nepal…

I come here regularly with my boyfriend and we are delighted each time, without fail. The food is flavorful and delicious and the service is absolutely wonderful. Every meal I eat here feels like a treat worthy of some special occasion even if I just stop by for a casual bite. This is one of those places where the servers treat you like old friends instead of mere customers. It’s a hidden gem nestled into a little back corner of our towns beautiful plaza. For locals, come here for consistently great food and a more secluded spot away from the crowds of the main square haunts. Despite being situated directly beside the more raucous environ of Murphy’s, it has a surprisingly intimate and romantic atmosphere. For tourists of the more adventuresome variety, here is an amazing hole in the wall find that you will never forget.

My husband and I came here for dinner when we were visiting Sonoma. We sat outside in the covered patio area and was able to order quite quickly. We ordered the dumplings and the samosas. The dipping sauces were delicious. We also ordered the curry and bread/naan. Overall a wonderful experience and added bonus to all weekend. Coming here for dinner allowed us to diversify our food since we had been eating lots of sandwiches, ham, cheeses and wine throughout the day. Would definitely come back the next time we are in town!!!

Love the food, with a caveat: I’ve been here about 20 times over the past few years and may have noticed it getting a little less special as time has gone by. Am I just getting used to it, or is it not quite as good as before? The samosas are every bit as good as the ones I grew up eating in high school. And the soup and curry dishes are always good. The pricing is right and the staff are friendly and generous, but I must admit the service has been a little hit-and-miss lately, with me having to go into the kitchen to find a staff member so I could order an additional item, or ask for the check. I’ll definitely be back, and hope the magic returns.

Such a delightful restaurant with quaint outdoor seating. We can here for lunch under Unilocal recommendations and so glad we did. Having spent 12 days trekking through Langtang valley in Nepal, we wanted to see how their food stocked up here. It definitely is a fool Himalayan menu, with a lot of Indian influence. Their salmon Tandori had delicious flavors and vegetables, the Dahl Baht and rice was prepared perfectly as we remember them at all of the teahouses is on our trip. Such nice and fast service with very reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

Tucked away off the street in a small walkway alley between buildings lies Taste of the Himalayas! The seating areas are small and the place is a little divey. We sat outside to enjoy the weather and the service was prompt. I selected the lamb tandoori and it was very good. The lamb was properly cooked and flavored with loads of Indian spices. The rice and naan bread were good as well. Was I blown away by the food? Not really but it was solid and I would eat here again.

Very yummy Indian found in the middle of Sonoma. The place was pretty quiet but the food was exceptional. The curry tasty and mild(I can’t do spicy any longer). Overall price to quality was good.

So. Saturday, Aug 1 was a full day of volunteer work at Sonoma Raceway. which left me with sore feet, exhaustion. and an empty stomach. Quickly changing out of my uniform, I contemplated where to go for food. I was unprepared and did not bring any food with me for the weekend, and figured I would probably drive into town to grab dinner for that evening. Talking to my manager at the race track, he suggested this Himalayan restuarant up in Sonoma. and after some research, came to find this place. Tucked away in the square in Sonoma, I found myself whisked away into a cozy, and wonderful atmosphere as I arrived and was seated at a small table outside. Reading some reviews, a craving for something spicy, and talking to the person taking my order, I ordered the Lamb Momo and the Kukhura Saag. Shortly after, they brought about a small bowl of daal(soup) which pretty much kickstarted the evening of wonderful cuisine. After the lamb momo came out, my server came out with another additional small portion of chutney that was spicy. earlier noting that I liked spicy food. Those dumplings were rich of lamb flavor. and the chutney was just a wonderful compliment to the dish. If you like dumplings and lamb… well. go no further than try the momo. The Kukhura Saag is their boneless chicken and spinach curry. with both cooked and fresh spinach. Each adding their own flavors and eating it with the naan came out to be filling and delicious. Spinach lovers will certainly love that one. May need to try out the other curries in the future. and certainly will come back when I get the chance. Well. after all that delicious food. my dining experience concluded with what I will certainly say was the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to me at a restaurant. I won’t go into details. but nonetheless. I find out the person serving me was none other than Pemba(owner/chef) himself. and after some explanation… was completely understanding to my situation. Pemba, thank you for the wonderful meal. wonderful experience. and your wonderful hospitality. Service was exceptional.

Although I don’t have any other Himalayan/Indian food to compare it to, this place is absolutely great. My go-to usual dish is the chicken tikka masala, with a side of garlic-basil naan. And if I’m feeling like I want to treat myself a even little bit more, then I get the samosas to start. The whole meal costs only about 15.00(minus the samosas which are only an extra 4 dollars I believe — worth it in my mind), and it is so filling, satisfying, but most importantly– it’s just plain delicious. I find myself craving this meal more often than is convenient for me. But every time I go it is just as great as the last time. You can go here as a romantic dinner, with a friend, or with family. The environment and food feels welcoming to all types of walk-ins. Service can sometimes be a little shotty, but other times service can be amazing, this will really depend on what day of the week and what time you go. Overall this place is a two-thumbs up from me. Some of the best eats in Sonoma right here.

I was a bit skeptical on some of the reviews, but decided to go on a Friday night. Arrived and was promptly seated(Inside). Our waiter answered all the questions we had, which was wonderful for rookie Indian/Nepal foodies. Ordered the the Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan Bread, Spicy Chicken with Veges, and Samosas(Vege). One of the few restaurants where I can honestly say everything was excellent. The chicken tikka masala was EXCELLENT, cannot go wrong with that. Samosas were great as well! Service was very quick and friendly and the total for two with drinks was just under $ 40 dollars. Being on the square in Sonoma, that is a steal honestly.

Passing by Sonoma from Quarryhill Botanical Garden so we decided to stop by since we’ve never been in this area. The food was overall good, the service was just okay. I ordered a mango lassi for drink, but we were never asked if we wanted water. Not sure if this is a California drought thing but it would have been nice to have given the option.

Stopped by last night at the end of the evening and was very impressed. From the starters to the main course, I was very satisfied especially with their naan! We were also surprised with the check. Even with a nice tip we were very content and both had leftovers. Thank you for the lovely meal!

This was a bad experience for me. Nothing went right. the food was not good. The flies took over outside. It seemed rather down-market. The bathroom is down the alley somewhere. I could not eat my food after a few bites. Just not well prepared. Sorry.

Mmm, what a tasty lunch for the area! I drove into Sonoma on my way to Santa Rosa and really wanted to take a lunch break. Luckily for me, this placed popped up for lunch options! We parked and started our journey by walking through a corridor and finding the restaurant. I opted to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful Cali weather that day. I started off with some spiced ice tea and marveled about the refreshing taste. My bf and I decided to share an order of lamb Momos and an entrée of Lukshya. The Lukshya had tender pieces of lamb and potatoes immersed in a spiced broth. The flavors and level of spice were the perfect combo. As for my Momos, they had a nice lamb filling without the lamb gaminess. The only thing that bothered me was the weird watery taste when you first bit into the dumpling. Side note, the bathroom is a journey around the corner. I opted out of washing my hands and just used my sanitizer. All in all, it was a nice meal in a cozy spot!

Smelled good but the food was overall lacking in excellence :/ Everything was just okay. Nothing knocked our socks off :( The atmosphere & service were nice. We ordered 2 appetizers, 4 main dishes &2 desserts ½ of which we recommended dishes from out waitress. With all the great good in Napa & Sonoma I wouldn’t waste your time here :(
