We went for Sunday brunch and probably won’t go back. The menu is enticing, but the food not so much. Service was slow, but friendly and the coffee refills only tepid, perhaps their coffee maker needs adjusting. The Chorizo Hash was disappointing, small portion and one egg! The Eggs Benedict were good but the fruit sides were tiny. Think it over before you make the trek!

I had their amazing florentine Benedict and my husband had the chorizo hash and they were both outstanding. We’re foodies and we both know good food. Rob is a very talented chef and Rosetta makes fabulous baked goods and desserts. I’ve been eating at Banny’s since their first location and I’ll always eat there.

It was good, I just forget about it since it is out in the country club now. Eggs Benedict for brunch was good

This is in no way a fake review. I am a Veteran, and a traumatic brain injury survivor with PTSD. When I entered Banny’s, I was approached by the owner Rosetta, and screamed at in front of all of her customers to leave. I am not ugly, bad smelling, poor, homeless, or anything of the kind… she just doesn’t like me. I started filming her bad behavior, and because of this, she STOLE my phone, and I could not leave. It took me ten minutes to get my phone back, of her screaming at me, until finally a customer, who was an attorney approached me when I had run outside as to not upset the customers, gave me his card, and said that if I needed to «sue this lady to call him»…that she finally gave me my phone back and I was able to leave. I will never, ever, ever set foot near this restaurant or golf course again. I come from Monterey, which is a golf city, and it’s too bad that I can’t bring my friends here, but I couldn’t even sit down for a drink here!!! Don’t go here.

Enjoyed Friday nite dinner at Baneys and would return in the future. Menus and specials provided a good variety of dinning options. The food was good and at s price point that was affordable.

WE’ve been eating as regulars at Banny’s since they opened up the hill in East Sonora 20 years ago or so. Consistently one of our favorite places. They are now at the Mountain Springs Golf Course — no doubt the best view of any restaurant in Tuolumne County. Sunday brunches are GREAT with egg dishes, steak, pasta, etc. & Mimosas, OJ or Champagne included. Also great Bloody Marys. Thursday night Italian is always a favorite and Friday notes are also great. Surf and Turf for me and salmon for my wife last night were right on as usual. It’s a little out of the way but well worth it to make it out there.

It’s really hard to find a great restaurant in the Sonora area. Every summer all the girls would go shopping and out to lunch and came across Banny’s Café… Great tasting good for a great price! Very friendly and family owned. Located at the golf course.

This has been one of our favorites in Sonora for years now. The cuisine is off the charts and the owners are amazing. You will be blown away that you are eating at a restaurant in Sonora, because the cuisine is comparable to 5-star dining in Black Hawk or San Francisco. The Sunday brunch was delicious and so were the endless mimosa’s!

My wife and I ate dinner there tonight after a long day of hiking. Banny’s is located in the Mountain Springs golf course clubhouse and they do dinners there. The views of the surrounding foothills are spectacular. The wait staff was friendly, prompt, and helpful. There was light jazz in the background, not too loud, so that we were able to have a nice conversation. I had the special(calamari) and my wife had the vegetarian risotto. Both were very good, but slightly salty for our tastes. Since I don’t like garlic, they left it out of my dish per request. Overall, both dishes had a nice balance of flavors. I finished the calimari and we took home half the risotto for later. We recommend it for a very pleasant date night dinner. Price was moderate.

Had a fantastic dinner here last night. They only serve dinner on Thursday(Italian night) and Friday nights. The five of us were seated by a window overlooking the golf course. We began with drinks(they have a full bar) and fresh sourdough bread. Next we had the Banny’s Classic salad, a longtime favorite. Entrees included filet mignon with Gorgonzola butter sauce, a surf and turf combo of New York steak and prawns, chicken with portabella mushrooms, and a pork chop. All were cooked to perfection. Our server was prompt, attentive, and friendly. This is a family run restaurant that has always served fresh, creative California cuisine. Ten minute drive from downtown Sonora and well worth it!

Hands down the best restaurant in Sonora! The food is all home made, made to order so sometimes it takes a tiny bit longer, which is prefect because it not only tastes great, it allows you to enjoy a relaxing glass of wine. There’s so many dishes I love but some of my favorites are the Banny’s classic salad, the lamb, the filet!, the scallops(special when they have it), the risotto!!! And every dessert I’ve ever tried there!!! I wish wish I as stationed in California so I could eat there more often!

Banny’s is now at Mountain Springs golf course and it is a beautiful setting. I love their Sunday champagne brunches, looking out onto the golf course, and it is also a favorite for my out of town guests. The salmon with risotto is delectable, as is the florentine eggs Benedict(usually one of the specials). They serve delicious homemade scones and muffins with honey butter with the brunch, and have wonderful coffee(not easily found in Tuolumne county restaurants). They are currently doing a Thursday Italian dinner for $ 15, complete with red and white checked tablecloths,(includes appetizer, entrée, dessert and coffee) which I thoroughly enjoyed last week(reservations are recommended). The only criticism I have is that the service tends to be slow. But the quality of the food more than makes up for it; just be prepared to have a very leisurely, enjoyable experience.

Longtime visitor to Banny’s in its various locations. The new digs at Mountain Springs Golf Course has great views! The food is very consistent. Chef Robert Bannwarth likes to experiment with locally grown foods, and he has a nice sense of presentation. Rosetta Bannwarth loves to create new desserts. When a local farmer gave her a whole bunch of pomegranates this Fall, she made a beautiful pomegranate cheesecake, covered in little red jewels. One of the best things about Banny’s is the artwork! They’re always letting local artists show their stuff in the restaurant. And Banny’s is very generous with many charity groups in this small tight-knit community.

My wife and I had dinner there many times and the food and wines were always great. Yes, the S. Stewart Street location is closed, but they appear to be reopening for lunch and brunch at the Mountain Springs Golf Club about 4 miles away.

If I could give this place six stars I would do it. Yes, service was on the slow side but it forced my husband and I to wind down and have time to talk and catchup. We don’t make enough time to do that so it was great. Laura, my Bay Area friend and I rate everything here not with stars but whether it’s going to be declared Gold Country Good(as in pretty good by Gold Country standards) or Bay Area Good(by this snotty Bay Area Foodie reviewer) as in really, really seriously good food. Trust me. This place is Bay Area GOOD with homemade pastas and a decent wine list that doesn’t kill your pocket book. I had Stuffed Cabbage which was a good old fashioned treat. Bread Pudding was also a treat but tho is was served piping hot on the outside, the inside was still a touch cold. Still, this snotty reviewer will be returning first chance she gets. Another note: portions aren’t huge but it’s QUALITY, not QUANTITY!

The pasta was homemade, which is rare in any restaurant these days and my entrée was good. The bread was pipping hot when brought out and my salad was yummy — leaf not head lettuce. My sister and I did not experience the wait that a few others have mentioned, but it could be that we arrived at exactly 4:30 when they open for the evening and there was only 2 other couples. It was to warm in there for an over 100 degree day. Drank more water then I ever do at a restaurant just to try and keep myself cool. No ceiling fans which would’ve helped a ton. Didn’t feel like the AC was on very high.

If I were just reviewing the food, I’d give it four stars, but I have had to wait and wait and wait for my food. I don’t mind waiting 15 minutes for my food if it’s freshly made, but I’ve waited ½ hour for a salad. Way too long. I usually don’t go here just because I can usually find food as good as this other places without the long wait.
