Came in for an early dinner while visiting the area. Dinner was great, the pizza and incredible and the garlic bread was awesome. Only thing I didn’t like was that the waitress told us we couldn’t «customize» our pizza and that she had to «check with the chef» to see if we could get it the way we wanted — Bacon, Red Onion, and Mushrooms… they ended up doing it for us… but I guess they don’t offer a choose your own toppings option normally on their menu. Food ended up being great regardless, though. Definitely would consider coming back to try the rest of what they had.

Visiting family in Sonora we were looking for good food & drinks. Since we were staying at The Gunn House we wanted somewhere close to our hotel. Cellphone in hand on Unilocal we go, we found Embers ‼ Food and drinks were excellent as well as the service. It was so good we had dinner & drinks left and came back to the bar to finish off the night with more drinks and appetizers, highly recommend the tater tots ‼

My boys enjoyed their burgers and fries, but my wife and I didn’t have the same opinion. Wife had fish & chips with three little fish thingies if that’s what you want to call them. I had the tomahawk, medium rare. Well out side was burnt crisps and raw in the middle. Sorry to say that was the worst $ 113.00 we have ever spent dinning out.

Ugh! The only thing worse then returning to a restaurant you were looking forward to coming back to and finding it sucks, is having your kids beg to come back and finding it sucks. The buffalo wings were RAW! The waitress(same one as last visit) was beyond clueless. Came back 15 minutes after we ordered to tell us they were out of an item we ordered. Charged us anyway. Was unapologetic when we pointed it out. The ambiance dismally failed to make up for the crappy waitressing, and bad food. Two drinks, pizza, two entrées $ 77… Meh sums it up perfectly. Very disappointing.

The bf and I ordered the chicken, bacon garlic pizza and a giant 3 rum mixed drink to share. Both were equally delicious! We left pretty full and tipsy for just $ 30. The staff and crowd were pretty friendly and I’d definitely go back!

Just had an amazing birthday dinner with my hubby! First time here. Food was delicious and service was great too! Ordered the apple and prosciutto wood fired pizza with a siracha wedge salad. Omg, so yummy! Glad we stopped in.

I’ve been there twice. Great experience both times. Try the Smoky burger or Chicken/bacon Pizza.

Nice looking place and friendly staff. We waited a long time for our food, they got slammed just as we got there at 5:30 on a sunday night. It looked like a one man crew in the open kitchen! The mac and cheese was damn good, but the burger was tasteless/cold, and the salad looked good, but was swimming in watery dressing. Might have just been a rough night for them due to the holidays, but won’t go back.

Good place in downtown Sonora. Bar has good range of bottles available and they can make some pretty tasty cocktails. Would like to see more options(bottled or taps) for craft beer, but what they do have is good stuff. Staff is very pleasant although the wait times on food can be pretty high. Not a big deal if you’re just relaxing for a night out. Pizzas, burgers and appetizers we’ve had have all been good. Only major word of warning — if they’ve got live music(Wednesday nights usually), make sure that’s what you want because that’s all you’ll be able to hear while you’re there.

Great food and our waitress Shayna was adorable, tentative and friendly! I had the Southern Chicken sandwich, it was amazing! Good pizza, salad, and cocktails too!

We went to Emberz Saturday night for dinner and drinks and we were very disappointed. There was only one bartender on a busy Saturday night and only a couple of servers. It seemed to be very understaffed. We finally got a drink after about 20 minutes and no one came to give us menus or take our order. So we drank our drink and left. I felt really bad for the staff. They were put in a very unfortunate situation being understaffed. They were swamped.

We have been before, it was okay, first trip included their incredible meatloaf which was gone on the second trip. This third trip is probably our last. If you have to ask where our food is, the wait was too long. Cheap tinny silverware which is useless for those who can’t take fingernails on chalkboards. The hard 4″ hamburger bun houses a tough, compact 3″ x 1 ½″ ball of meat. Is crinkly sharp edged lettuce super cheap or something? Oh. gourmet. My mistake. If I ask to taste the spicy Bleu cheese salad dressing before I choose, please come back to see what I thought.

Simply amazing. Get the cheese appetizer with the tapenade! It’s enough for two and awesome! Best scotch selection in town.

It was a bit weird that I walked in and no one was available to serve me or take my order. There was a waitress there and I said excuse me a few times but she didn’t pay any attention to me. Someone else actually came out after 15 minutes from the kitchen and took my order. The waitress then looked a little surprised and it seemed like she just didn’t notice my existence. Not too big of a deal I guess considering I wasn’t in a rush. I really was expecting the apple pizza to be better. But I found it to be overly salty. But the crust was so yummy! Overall, if the topping on the pizza wasn’t so salty it would have been a great meal!

I wanted to do 4 or 5 star review but found few things lacking. 5 stars on calamari. Amazingly good soft and edible not hard or crunch like some places. Chicken wings. Where ok. Smaller wings then normal I can’t remember name of sandwich sorry. But had chicken, foci bread, welted. lettuce, and cheese .ok this is where you get my 3 star review… processed chicken. I mean not even triing to cover it up processes or frozen chicken. No salt no pepper nothing !! The lettuce with combo of the chicken made meal hard to eat. the french fries stole the meal back but lack with no salt or seasoning. maybe could of made garlic parm fries? also orig asked for sweet potato and got orig. Also prices seem rather high for area maybe la but not sonora.10 to 15 dollars for salad price range. Not. like we live where salad is plentiful . Not shure on there pizza haven’t tried yet. but they do have an expensive pizza oven.

I found this place via Unilocal per usual and was intrigued by the theme of charbroiled cooking. The place was decked out in black and red accents on silver. To start, my boyfriend and I ordered a SSOW(Shit show on wheels) cocktail drink which consisted of 4 types of rum and passion fruit. It came out in a huge bowl with two long straws for sharing. The best part of it was that it was lit on fire, however, the fire show wasn’t as extravagent as I’d expected. It was small and went ka-put in less than 5 seconds. For food, we ordered Saltimbocca, Chicken sandwich, hot wings and truffle fries. OMG, the truffle fries are heaven. I would totally recommend. The chicken sandwich was amazing, as the chicken was fried and stacked in between two egg buns and cole slaw. The saltimbocca was a little on the TOO saucy side. I wasn’t sure if I was eating soup or a chicken entrée. The service was excellent, everyone was smiley and friendly, which is always nice. Would def. come back again with friends!

We walked from our hotel and looked in. Initially it just looked like a bar, but we were pleasantly surprised to find they have a large dining area in the back. It made it much more appealing to have the kids with us. An initial glance at the menu was a surprise! We didn’t expect such a diverse selection without an overwhelming number of items on the menu. The appetizers all looked so good we could have just eaten off of that list alone. We narrowed it down to the shrimp. I think it’s great how they have lemon and cucumber in the water. Nice touch that I wish more restaurants would fall in line with. My wife ordered the Saltimbocca. It was not traditional, it was Ember’s rendition of it. Although not traditional, she still enjoyed it. The kids ordered burgers and the Mac and Cheese. Both burgers came with fresh made soft buns. He sweet potato fries were off the chain! The kids almost didn’t get to eat them because we all started to attack them. One of the other kids got Mac and cheese. It came with asparagus and bread. One suggestion if you choose the Mac and cheese, save the bread to scoop up all the leftover creamy cheese. You’ll thank me! I ordered the Ahi Tacos. They were delicious. I do have one down side, and I know it may be because we caught it on the weekend. The tropical fruit salsa looked a little old and oxidized. It was still good, but initial appearance was less than satisfactory. The coup de grâce was the house made chocolate cheesecake. Although I don’t eat desert, our three toughest critics inability to verbalize their extreme satisfaction is testament enough for me! Overall, we truly enjoyed our experience and will be back the next time we come through Sonora! Thanks Embers! We look forward to the next visit.

This place was the only place with a kitchen open late(11pm) on the Friday night we drove in from out of town. So we headed in for some good eats. The bartender was extremely friendly and personable, and very eager to assist us. We sat at the bar and ordered some beers on tap, and had some good quality conversation, we were the only 2 people in the bar except for a couple sitting in the window. We took the bartender’s recommendation good the ahi tuna tacos and we were not disappointed! They were really something! And then the wood fired chicken garlic pizza was sooo delicious. Just be aware that it’s very as is– meaning when they say garlic, they are throwing in whole garlic cloves, and the cheese is whole mozzarella balls. I loved that, but my husband likes things sliced smaller. Overall great experience!

Strong drinks, good food, great service and open late in sleepy downtown Sonora. What’s not to like! After a long day driving to/from and through Yosemite, I gave a whoop! to see Emberz was open at 9:40 pm on a rainy Thursday night. We scrambled out of the car and piled into the restaurant that was a warm and welcoming respite from the spitting rain and cold outside. After nearly 9 hours of driving that day and on lots of windy roads, I picked the strongest drink I could think of: A Maker’s Mark Manhattan. It was… perfect! The Angry Vito wood fired pizza topped with sausage and red peppers was a little too spicy for my little boy but it didn’t stop either of us from scarfing all but 2 slices(we offered them to a couple at the bar, they were delighted). The food and environment were so right on that we went back for dinner the following night. I choose a less spicy pizza topped with chicken & bacon and lots of garlic. It was delicious. We also opted for the Unilocal deal of 50% off the chicken wing appetizer(they had several styles and we chose the teriyaki). My little boy gobbled them up one after the other. The wings were delicious, savory and sticky; I’ve tried to duplicate them twice to no avail. «My grandfather would want me to have it»(rolled eyes) got a green light for the most decadent dessert I’ve seen in a long time: a literal *brick of a warmed brownie packed with chocolate chips and topped with ice cream and fresh raspberry sauce. (That he finished it had me chuckling and frankly, startled). Great service, very good food(burgers, fish tacos, salads, sandwiches, pastas too), a warm and inviting ambiance, I’d go back to Emberz in a heartbeat our next trip to Gold Country.
