Located in downtown Sonora, this is one of the most interesting and unique shops I visited all day. It is basically a bunch of rocks. What? Rocks? Well, let me explain. They are pumice rocks with large holes hallowed out in them, and small drainage holes in the bottoms. The basic idea is that they are planters. The rocks come in all different shapes and sizes. Each rock has its own distinct personality with ridges and rings. They range from fairly large to fairly small. Prices that I saw were anywhere from about $ 13 up to $ 60. That’s not bad at all considering. The guy I bought from explained that they have a special license to mine the rocks in Nevada. You plant your plants in them and the plants slowly leech out the minerals within the porous rocks. What a neat idea! I was on vacation by the way… and they had no problems shipping. From CA to TX it was $ 15 to ship, which really isn’t bad considering its a rock that you’re shipping. Speaking of which, the rocks are really light so that helps out quite a bit. I can’t remember which guy I was dealing with, Mike or Chris but he was an incredibly cool guy and great to talk to. I got back from vacation and my rock-planter came right away. I planted something in it right away it looks so beautiful on my porch. They said that they were trying to get a website together, and I really hope this happens soon. This is a great local business, and a wonderful addition to downtown Sonora. thanks for everything guys!
