Just walked out of here. The 2 item combo used to be $ 7.99 as you can see in the pictures of the menu. Well they raised the price TWO dollars for the same exact plate to $ 9.99 and I just won’t pay 10 bucks for 2 little tacos with rice n beans.

This is a place you can’t miss if you want good Mexican food and you are in the area. I got the combo plate with a taco and chili relleno. The taco was tasty but the chili was one of the best I have ever had. Big chili, light on the batter, perfect flavor. My dad had the pork quesadilla which was huge and full of flavor. Don’t miss the salsa bar. I could not get enough and wanted to bottle it up and take it home. The prices were more than reasonable and the food will make you want to come back for more. I will be coming back to Taqueria Sonora when I am in town again.

Almost everything I’ve had has been very good. If you ask my husband he will tell you it’s the best place in town… Love the salsa bar! We go here weekly! Carnitas is very good, supreme burritos, enchiladas & nachos are our favs.

Service was great, food was sub par, to say the least. We ordered a full plate of nachos, it was small, a Mexican shrimp cocktail, it had no avacado and the sauce tasted literally like watered down ketchup. I got a wet burrito and the red enchillada sauce was bland. I cook all of this food much better then it was prepared for us, and i am a white lady… my experience was disappointing.

Very good informal Mexican taqueria! I had a shrimp burrito covered with sauce. Soooooo good. Red sauce was delish. My HB had the chili Colorado burrito. Very good. Can’t wait to try other dishes! We will be back!

Carne Asada was perfect in my crispy taco. Soft chicken in my sope. Tortillas in burritos were soft.

If you enjoy good Mexican food stay a foot away from this place. The meat(carnitas) was either old or just tasted bad. I ordered the supreme burrito which promises guacamole… But when I opened it all I found was some sour green sauce WITHNO avocado. But honestly, it was so bad I hardly ate around the meat and had the rice.

Fast, friendly service with fresh, tasty flavors. The burritos are big, so you will not leave hungry. Chips and salsa are very good too. Also, liked the large selection of salsas at the salsa bar.

Great food! Would have given it 5 stars but someone needs to tell the hormonal lady at the counter to smile and take the bad attitude somewhere else. Really loved my super burrito!

First meal in town after driving 2.5 hours from the city. Excited that they had fish tacos but that ended when it finally arrived. Fish looks like those frozen breaded fish sticks. It was torn up into pieces and topped with diced fresh tomatoes. If you’re used to Baja style fish tacos you’ll be disappointed. It’s literally just the fish stick and diced tomatoes. They had some cabbage slaw in their salsa bar so I dressed mine with some, topped with the tomatillo salsa and a squeeze of lime, its palatable. Complimentary chips were half stale but the salsas at the bar decent. Carne asada burrito was much better. Will probably try the other taquerias in town next time.

The food is probably worth 3 or 4 stars, but the place is filthy and does not practice good food handling techniques. Employees have been seen using the restroom and not washing hands, the place is not kept clean, and often meat can be seen out at room temperature. Luckily food borne illness is not too easy to occur, but it is only a matter of time if it hasn’t already happened with this place.

It was sooo smokey in that place, the food was greasy and it tasted wierd. Not a big fan, not real mexican food.

I was enthusiastic when we came here. We ordered a chili relleno, beef enchilada and beans a la carte and chili relleno and side carnitas a la carte. You walk up and there is no direction about how to order. At the counter at the table what? After you order they will bring the order to you. They have a nice salsa bar in the back although they never mention it when you order. There is also water and iced tea in the back that they they don’t mention. I loved the flavors but they were very similar to everything sold at smart and final. Loved the food but within a half hour it exited my body and then heartburn for hours. Generic Sad No return!

We went here today based on all the high marks. Well, I can’t say I had a 5-star experience. We only had a 2-star experience. The salsa bar is stocked but not very clean. The quality of meat in the beef chimichanga was lacking. I bit into a huge piece of gristle(not plain fat) and had to spit out. The pork taco also had poor meat quality. We were not impressed at all. I really had high hopes, as it’s hard to find a decent clean place to eat in Sonora.(sigh) My quest continues…

Our recent weekend trip included visiting this restaurant. It was silly how difficult it was to find a breakfast spot in Sonora at 9am on a Saturday! Extensive menu posted on the wall with very reasonable prices. Beer and sodas are located right next to register. We ordered a couple different spicy shrimp plates. Both of my friends enjoyed it. They even commented on how many shrimps it came with. It was full of flavor and a nice amount of kick. My friends are Mexican and love heat, so when they say it was spicy, I trust them. They also ordered the shrimp ceviche(again, generous with the shrimp). My friend said it was the highlight of his meal and raved about how«refreshing» it was. I got the asada super quesadilla. This came out totally different from what I expected. It wasn’t flat– it was sorta rolled. They also put the sour cream and guacamole inside. I asked for no tomatoes. Swiss cheese was used and it was gooey and delish! My bf said it ranked top 3 in his book for quesadillas. Adobada tacos were also very tasty. Good amount of flavor and char. I loved the tortilla that was used. 1 side was crispy and one side was nice and soft. My friend also got a side of chili relleno and she said it was good. Cons: the tamale was blah, tasted either store bought or made in a hurry. The chorizo and eggs were also below par. My bf said it had no real flavor and no spice at all. Our 2nd visit, the lady at the counter was RUDE! I don’t know if its the owner’s wife or just an employee. Please, someone tell her to SMILE! Customer service is very important and she obviously doesn’t know that.
