As a hair dresser:
I started seeing Jennifer because she was a friend of my mothers. After our 1^st consultation, she said I had thick, coarse, hair like Native or African Americans. Because of this, I changed the setting on my hair straightener from normal to coarse (which I only used 2 – 3 times per week).
I was also having her color my hair — naturally it is a light brown & I wanted it to have a tint of red. This meant she had to lighten my hair (towards blonde) to then apply the red. There were many times she would get distracted & leave the lightener on too long & I would leave with the color looking more like orange.
After about a year of seeing her, my hair went from wavy when dry to a poofy, Diana Ross Afro. I started to be embarrassed to wear my hair down unless I straightened it. I finally went to see another hair dresser & she told me I had FINE, thick hair. The setting I was using on my straightener was slowly destroying my hair. Not only was Jennifer wrong about the type of hair I had, she never noticed or mentioned the destruction being done to my hair.
In order to get rid of all the damaged hair, I would have needed to shave my head bald. Instead, I elected to cut it shoulder-​length, let it grow, then cut it to shoulder-​length again & continue to repeat that process until all the dead hair was gone. Within the last month, I have finally been able to start wearing my hair down; it has been in a pony-​tail for almost 3 years. The last time I saw Jennifer was the beginning of January 2013; it is now December 2015.
As a human being:
Jennifer is despicable. My parents let her stay at my house & «help» me pack while I was doing an internship before moving up north. I had a bad feeling about it, but my 1^st inclination my fears were founded was when I went went home to pack up the moving truck & found my rechargeable batteries squirreled away on top of the kitchen cabinets & my pillows left outside on the back deck. It appears it started out small; like in the front bathroom, if there was double of something (like shampoo), taking one. However, by the time she got to the back of the house, it was a full out shopping spree. She took everything from shampoo, Proactiv, cleaning products to minted coins, to pajamas & my 1^st set of plastic earrings I got when I pierced my ears.
When confronted about the missing items, she not only called my a liar, but she accused ME of stealing from her. She said I took her aloe plant, which her son (who died the previous year) had given to her & 3 wooden spoons given to her by her mother (who was also deceased).
The problem is: if I had been robbed, they would have taken big ticket items like my TV & stereo. Also, she was the only person who knew where I lived or to even step foot (besides my parents) into my house. & in regards to the aloe plant, this would have meant that she had taken my aloe plant, threw it out, & used the pot to replant her son’s aloe & then put it back in the very same spot I kept mine.
