I first stepped inside the door of Monterey Bay Photomart in 1971, or so. It was there that my photography hobby took off. I patronized Stepicks and Santi’s because I grew up in Watsonville, but Photomart was the best. The family, the environment, and customers were the best. Larry Abitbol (Bay Photo) started out back. It was the best. Richard Ruth is someone I will always remember. I drove by today and noticed he is closed and Bay Photo is taking it over. I hope Larry takes over in some capacity because he remembers what it was and can still be. Thank you Richard.

Dukedom on the place and no review, no bueno!! first time i found this place was when i got started with my dslr hobby. i was looking for a 2nd battery so i found this place thru online first. like what other reviewers pointed out the owner has a bit of speech impediment but beyond that hes a really helpful and funny guy. ive even spent some of my lunch time there looking around and chatting with him since i work in the area. i would have given the store a 5 but a lot of the stuff he has there are old stocks and maybe a handful of new ones.

Good quality equipment and accessories at a good price. Owner’s speech impediment discouraged other reviewers however I found him both knowledgable and caring.
I saved ten bucks on two 52mm UV filters (Japanese company, manufactured in the Philippines) verses a nearby big box store’s (American company, manufactured in China). I paid more than what I may have at two other places with lesser quality models, for an Italian Manfrotto tripod. It brings me happiness.
Well stocked if cluttered shop, very helpful and appreciative, competitive if not better prices, high quality products.

I came to this place because I needed some supplies for my dark room photography class. The man working there, (I assume he owns it), was rather rude and became exasperated with me when I didn’t understand some of the things he told me. He gave me faulty information about a product and the experience was overall difficult and frustrating. I would rather get my supplies in San Jose than come back here.
