Not 100% sure how this is getting 5 start reviews. My wife and I were in a hotel close by and wanted to get some food. From the outside, the pub is looking pretty rough. We went in at about 8 pm and noticed the bar was empty except for one intoxicated man sitting at the bar. After waiting for about 10 minutes at the bar, the man sitting at the end informed us that he was the bartender and was on his break. We thought he was joking until he walked into the snookered lounge for another few minutes. My wife and I left with getting food or drinks. We decided to drive to downtown Newport for McDonald’s which sadly had much better service.

If you’re looking for a bar south of Newport look no further, seriously, you won’t find one. I needed a Bloody Mary and we drove 30 miles past Newport because(we didn’t see this little nook) looking for a bar and there weren’t any! Thank god for Hoovers! Nice outdoor patios that allows dogs:) big screen tv for sports fans and a FULLBAR

My favorite take out burger. I am not a burger fan, but I’m a fan of the call ahead, have a quick, well made cocktail while I wait(because I told the bartender how long I wanted to wait) Hoovers burger. And then, that burger, with hand cut fries. decadent yumminess. Current favorite is the mushroom swiss, fresh shrooms! Yummmmmmmm

Stopped in with friends and had a few drinks and some food tonight at Hoovers. The burgers were tasty as were the onion rings and fries. Bartender Jules was a blast, high energy and poured a good drink!

Very well priced, relaxed crowd. Had a lot of fun when we stopped by there. Bartenders are really fast and very nice. I would definately go back if Im in the area! I also think it has a lot of potential too if they utilize the tiki bar in the outside back area on weekends or something, I think it would be really neat. Overall it was a good visit with good people.

I stopped at Hoovers a few years ago. The bar is a really cool place. $ 2 pbr and several others on tap and in bottles. Great bar tenders and the owner is a very nice guy. He is constantly trying to make it his own neat bar. It’s the only place that I visit in Newport. The burgers are great too!

If you are a fan of coastal dive bars, put this one on the top of your list of places to visit! Happy Hour from 5 – 7 with $ 2 well drinks that will put hair on your chest! Juke Box with a geat selection of music. Outdoor covered patio filled with locals who are friendly and welcoming. Bartenders that are fast and attentive and welcome everyone, including«outsiders», with friendly smiles. I stop here every time I am in town and I recommend you pay them a visit as well!
