Went to this place when it first opened, got the«try us for free» thing in the mail. So, of course, I went and tried it. Now, I have worked in New York city, lived in New Jersey, and been to hundreds of sandwich shops. Nowhere have I ever seen so many hands have to handle my sandwich. I counted six people on the line, each doing something else to my to by abused food! What, we have applied the Henry Ford assembly line to the food service industry?! Can’t one or two people be enough? Anyhow, I got my order, and, well, it was lousey. Too sloppy, too wet and it just didn’t «jive» with itself, y, know? Felt like something was missing, or that aliens had cloned our food somehow and were trying to break into our food operations. Just tasted funky, and sloppy. So, being a civilized guy, I filled out the customer comment card, and expressed my thoughts and opinions on the meal I had been served. A week later, I get a letter stating the he, the manager, was sorry that I did not have a pleasant experience at his franchise, heres’ another free sandwich card, give us another try. Well that was very nice of this fellow, so, about a month later, having given them enough time to ‘work the bugs out’, I returned. Much to my chagrin, this sandwich was worse than the first. The portions were out of whack, they got the pepper wrong, it was cold and I asked for it hot… now this was quite a while ago, and they may have improved some since then, but I will never go there again. Too many cooks spoils the soup. ,

I decided to finally try them out after passing by TONS of times. I saw the prices, seemed OK. I said to myself«this better be worth it» O.M.G. Got the philly cheesesteak, WOW. WOW. This is the best sub I have ever had! I already joined the reward club, and will be back VERYSOON. Subway GTFO, Jimmy Johns, LOL. Penn Station is where it is at! Fresh sauteed onions, mushrooms, steak. Made the whole house jelous(only got it for me! HAHA).

Terrible. Have tried the South Bend Ave location twice… everything was mediocre to horrible, last visit I waited quite a while for an underwhelming sandwich. Will never return.

The fries. Enough said. And did I mention the fries?

Penn Station is always yummy and fresh. I love the artichoke and mushroom sub and my hubby loves the chicken Parmesan. The fries are always good and hot but always too short. The shortness doesn’t take away from how good they are, though. The service is great.

Sandwich & fries were both very good. But for some reason my fries were all the short, stubby little pieces. Lost a star for dining room. Only 2 tables being used yet the empty ones seemed dirty. Cup rings & bits of food on them. Mine felt like there was some kind film on it. It was sticky. One of the 6 employes could have came out of the office and did some cleaning. But it was good and I’ll go back.

I tried Penn Station East Coast Subs about 2 years ago and the food and the management rubbed me the wrong way– I tried them again today and things were better. I ordered their Philly Cheese Steak and fries. I ordered without any of the sauce that normally comes on the sub– mayo, mustard. I asked for my fries crispy. They made my fries fresh and the sammich was ready in about 10 minutes. I got it with«everything», onions, mushrooms and pepper rings and, of course, cheese. Even without any of the sauces the sammich was juicy and flavorful. The fries were nicely crispy and overall it was a good lunch. I will visit Penn Station East Coast Subs again!

They make their fries right there and even though I am not a french-fry lover, I do enjoy these. The lemonade is also freshly made. But the very best thing there are the cookies. Ignore the way the plastic-wrap makes them look like sad left-overs, they’re delicious. I’m a picky sandwich eater, so I only like a few the menu options, but my favorite thing to do is to get ham, cheddar, and red onions, and have them toast it. My husband thinks I’m ridiculous for loving it so much, but it really is amazing.

I have been to a couple of these sub shops now and am very impressed with the food and service at this location. Food and staff were both very good. Staff goes out of their way to make you feel good about eating there! Plus a free cookie sample! Well laid out with plenty of seating. Michael was a great server and is what makes this place a big step above most of the other sub chains i have been to. Love these subs!

Love those toasted subs, especially the chicken parm. Great cookies, good fresh fries, almost but not as good as Five Guys. Fantastic staff, remember their customers’ names and favorites. Diet Mt Dew is a plus.

It was okay, not great but not bad. However, I’m an east coast girl, so I’m picky. My husband and I had philly cheesesteaks and the bread was excellent, however there was nothing special with the cheesesteak altogether. The fries are pretty good, but nothing special again. It took me about 15 minutes to order on the phone(where I had to repeat myself a million times), then when my husband got to the restaurant, he said they didn’t start cooking our order yet. That’s annoying, but if you are craving a good cheesesteak, go here. Patience is just key.

Good stuff! Way better than Slubway or Quizsnow. Clean, friendly, good price, and tasty subs. Not much more to say.

Not 100% sure this is the location I visited. SODELICIOUS! I can’t wait for my next trip to the middle of nowhere to find one of these, unfortunately, there’s none in Chicago(yet?) but I’ve been craving that yummy artichoke sub. The staff there, however seemed really«out of it», however. Also, they need a better system for their lemonade. It’s so good, I understand not allowing refills, but we’re paying extra for it, so the chick behind the counter should know to give it to us without us asking. I guess we had to get ice first, but it just seems like a pretty dumb system. Well worth it, though, to get another one of these delicious sandwiches!

I ordered a steak sandwich with the onions/mushrooms and medium fry, husband ordered the same thing without fries. The sandwiches are excellent. If you dine in they pour the fries on your basket instead of giving you the medium cup that is near the order station. The amount seems less and we were expecting to share based on a previous carry out experience when we received a cup of fries. Our fries were cold. Since they cut the fries fresh, there is no excuse why they couldn’t fry small batches so everyone receives fresh fries; unless the restaurant is busy. We ate on a Friday around 2:30pm. They weren’t very busy. We will give them a 3rd chance since the sandwiches are good. Had my fries been fresh and in a cup like advertised I would have given them 4 – 5 stars.

I came back to visit last week and get some stuff out of storage and there’s a lot of changes to South Bend!!! UGH. That makes me kind of sad that they are finally coming into the 21st century. I’ve always remembered my little cruddy south bend as being forever stuck in the pioneer farm era since my first encounter in 4th grade! My old college buddy introduced me to this new sandwich place for dinner and at first I thought. Ew, sandwiches for dinner??? Why can’t we eat at a shitty sit down chain restaurant instead, like Applebee’s. I was already imagining the worse. I was wrong! There’s some great sandwiches here. not at all your Subway. They serve sandwiches hot and my friend had the chicken terayaki while I ordered the cheese steak with grilled onions, mushrooms and banana peppers. No sauce was needed, it was really good. Lots of meat and melty cheese. They also offer fries, lemonade, chips and cookies that look way better than what they offer at Subway. This is located by Game Crazy and Kinko’s. Of course they start opening cool shit when I move away.
