Physicians Urgent Care-- South Bend

Mixed feelings.
The staff was fairly friendly.
I had a long wait, but I know in a place like this that’s just what happens sometimes.
I was expecting $ 90 like Urgent Care in Elkhart, but it was $ 125. That did cover my lab.
My meds were $ 12 and I was able to buy them right there. That was nice.
I had to do my urine sample in a restroom with no working sink because it’s used for drug labs. I’ve never been to a doctor that did not provide a LIDDED container for the urine, but instead offered a flimsy plastic cup. So I had to set that cup on a counter outside the restroom and carefully make my way down the hall to the exam room where I could wash my hands. Nothing about this seems sanitary.
The nurse was friendly, but she talked over my explanation of my symptoms explaining the severity. Maybe that’s why on my paperwork she states I rated my symptoms at a «3» when, if she had asked, I probably would have rated them an 8. She also downgraded my «very frequent» to «frequent» for how often I experienced the symptoms.
The doctor suggested that I try a local, more affordable clinic and said she would give me a list of them. On my paperwork it says that she did just that, but there’s no list with the paperwork.
So, I got what I needed, but on the whole I’m not particularly impressed.

During a family vacation I had injured my back very severely and was forced to visit a south Carolina hospital. Althought the hospital took care of me the best they could, we returned to Indiana with me unable to walk without assistance. Our trip back was very tough on me due to my injuries and we knew we had to seek further assistance. As a first time visitor to physician urgent care I was unsure of treatment or care I would receive. Dr. Roth was able to identify with my injuries and helped me greatly. Arriving at physician care I was unable to walk without help and was in a great deal of pain. I’m very thankful for the treatment I received and was able to walkout of office on my own and heading to a full recovery.

Experiences such as this one contribute to my avoiding medical professionals. The receptionist and nurse were very friendly and helpful, but the NP, Lisa Stults, treated me poorly. For instance, because I happen to carry a bag with me all the time since I always have a journal (one never knows when inspiration will come), iPad (iBooks is always a good idea), and don’t like filling my pockets with things like an over-​stuffed wallet, she asked if I’m homeless. Really? Because it’s so very unusual to see someone carrying a messenger bag? She continued to treat me with thinly veiled hostility and distrust throughout the course of my «exam.» I’ve been suffering from sleep issues for years, but I started a new job about a month ago and haven’t been able to get enough sleep, so I’m having trouble focusing and can’t seem to get anywhere with what I’ve already tried (OTC sleep aids, exercise, etc.), so I went to urgent care because I don’t have a primary care provider and I fly out again on Monday for my 100% travel job and am pretty desperate. So, I go to this place for help, and, instead, I’m met with someone who doesn’t believe anything I’m saying and talks down to me the entire time. I’m pretty confident she assumed I’m some drug addict looking for a way to score. Long story short, this was a horrible experience and a complete waste of my time. And, I’m still miserable and can’t sleep through the night.

I was so relieved when I left here. I took my 6 month old daughter for a second opinion. She had an ongoing fever and terrible congestion. Her pediatric told me it was just a virus and to wait it out. Here at the urgent care they found she had an ear infection and also Joanne showed me how to get those boogers that are way up there. I wish she could be our permanent doctor. Everyone was so kind!

I have been to this urgent care center more times than I would like, however, each time I go I am treated with kindness, compassion and respect. When you don’t feel good, you feel so vulnerable and just want to be treated and understood. Each and every staff member in this care center has gone above and beyond in making me feel cared for and offered such compassion… I just can’t explain the difference that makes to someone walking in scared, sick and feeling blah. Exceptional place with extraordinary, professional and kind staff!

Awesome place to visit if you need any urgent care service. The entire staff was excellent! Very caring, knowledgeable, and efficient!!! I highly recommend going here for your medical needs!

I was very happy with my experience here. I was seen quickly and the NP was very nice. She made sure I understood what was wrong and really took time with me. She washed her hands before examining me and made me feel comfortable. I will defiantly return if the need arises.
