Unfortunately I have to post this negative review. My friends and I have been going here for a year now. We usually have a great time and spend a good amount. We tip well and get along with the staff. Our most recent visit wasnt as pleasant. We were sitting outside and the umbrella flew out of its stand and landed on my friend. My friend had to catch it as it knocked her beer all over her clothes. It could have hurt her! My friend was drenched. Her pants were wet and so was her top. All they did was take off the beer that spilled. They apologized but we left because my friend was soaked down to her under garments. I would think they would do more for us considering we are regulars and support their business. We are beyond disappointed with the service we received.

Great spot to enjoy quality Italian fare.(Menu also offers Sushi which we did not try.) Appetizers are varied with something for everyone-strongly recommend the homemade tortilla chips, salsa and guacamole-delicious. The organic mesclun greens salad features a tasty, honey-mustard dressing made in-house. I had the chicken Marsala over linguine-delicious! Great service, too!

In town on business so Im dining alone which seemed to garner poor service as I watched my server bend over backwards for a table of 8 or so. Had to ask to be read the specials as my first encounter with him was, «you ready?» As he passed by. Bread came the table. Served with Sriracha mayo. Odd combo. Odd restaurant(sushi, italian, fine dining). Ordered New England clam chowder special. Decent but not traditional. Had the lobster and crab ravioli entrée. Pretty sure these were frozen. Pasta was undercooked, filling was imitation crab and tasted like it. Will not return. Coworkers who recommended this might be fired tomorrow.

Surprisingly good sushi roll and they were very accommodating with substituting pasta for stir fry veggies to go with my fish which was fantastic. Pom martini came out all fancy looking but tasted artificial — like diluted cough syrup in a fancy glass decorated with a slice of orange. I’ll try another drink next time — maybe a glass of sparkling beverage that came from a bottle.

To start we requested for local wine they bring us Italian wine. Then, we requested a risotto and It was like rices stored in the refrigerator and heated in the microwave(the center part of the risotto was frozen) with a lot of red salsa… This is a nice place to drink a couple of martinis but not to eat.

You don’t typically see sushi and Italian food on the menu… At a restaurant owned by Albanians. But it works! Stopped in for dinner with colleagues and was torn between sushi and pasta. I mean seriously: my two favorite cuisines. I ended up going with pasta; and was not disappointed in the slightest. I tried the penne vodka; and the pasta was perfectly al dente and the tomato sauce was fresh and creamy. Initially I thought the serving looked too big… But then I quickly devoured the whole thing. My dinner companions tried chicken Parmesan, veal picatta and a fish special: and there were clean plates all around. The Italian was excellent, and I’d like to stop back and try the sushi sometime soon!

I came to this spot with a friend for a birthday dinner. It wasn’t too hard to find. There is parking, and it was very convenient. Inside place is relatively small, but I think it seemed that way since it was a party of about 15 of us. In addition to the restaurant area, there is a bar, but I did not sit there. I ordered a shrimp tempura sushi roll, which was pretty decent. The ambiance was pretty nice — dim lights with little candles on the table. For dessert, a few of us split a chocolate soufflé, which was oh-so-decadent, but it was a little on the pricier side. I enjoyed this place! Definitely a good place to go for a low key get together, and not with such a large group.

Modern and trendy nyc style look/décor which is nice. However, food is «okay» I probably prefer this place as a drinks and appetizer rather than a full meal place. Would I go back: Probably Would I recommend: Unlikely Favorite dish: Don’t have one yet Tips: Avoid the chicken quesadilla

I went to Ovations for the first time yesterday to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The bar has great happy hour specials including $ 5 glasses of wine and martinis, $ 2.50 domestic bottles and $ 3 appetizers from 4 – 7. There was a big group of us for dinner and I was so surprised with how quickly our food came out(usually with big groups, it could take hours from beginning to end). They have a concise menu that at the same time offers a lot of variety. I ordered an avocado roll to start and the steak sandwich with salad as my main. Everyone seemed to like their food and I thought mine was very good. The staff also treated the birthday girl to a round of shots for the ENTIRE table, which was very nice of them. I wouldn’t mind going back in the future for both happy hour or dinner.

Came here on a sunday for valentines day. The place was romantically decorated and it wasnt busy. Waiters had on very cute red blazers for the vday theme. Food was good and came out fast. We got complementary bread with a special type of sauce. I wish the bread came out warm but it was cold and a bit hard. Me and my partner had shrimp and chicken penne vodka pasta. The pasta was a little too aldente and the chicken was gross but overall it was ok. We had the crème brûlée for dessert which was good since we had it for the first time. The menu didn’t have many options as i saw online. I dont know if it was because it was valentines day or it was because it was a Sunday and they aren’t usually open on Sunday. All im all 3out of 5 stars.

My coworker and I are in town doing a training and we usually end up trying local places for some of our favorite cuisine. Ovations was a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at so we decided to try it out(since we both love sushi). The atmosphere was a bit dim for 5:30 pm, but we decided to give it a try anyway. Our server handed us these giant menus filled with italian food and we both asked«where’s the sushi?» — so the waiter grabbed a significantly smaller sushi menu off another table and gave it to us. The menu is pretty basic sushi or sashimi with four entrees that you can get(a sushi plate, a sashimi plate, a sushi and sashimi plate, or a love boat) and the back had hand rolls on it. What we got was decent, but doesn’t come with the regular Japanese restaurant staples, like rice, miso soup or ginger salad. The serving size was okay, but for the price I would have expected a bit more flair on the plates. The server also didn’t pay attention to us because he was waiting on another very large table that he spent most of his time at. Overall, not bad… but if you’re looking for sushi I would find a different restaurant that specializes in only sushi.

The concept of an Italian place plus sushi intrigued me. While curious, I thought, the sushi can’t be very good. It’s like when you go to a Chinese/Korean/Thai place that pretend to be a good sushi bar, it always fails. But I was only 5 minutes away and craving sushi, and it’s 9pm, so let’s give it a whirl. I should’ve trusted my instincts. The place sits at a corner street across from a canal, lovely spot and great atmosphere inside. To the left was the bar and I pulled up a seat upon arriving. The first bar tender was not too friendly, «What do you want?» Well, this is a restaurant and I’m sitting down, so…“Can I have a menu?” The menu doesn’t fit this place, it looks like a big flyer type that’s wrapped in plastic, like you would find at Friendly’s. I browsed the menu, obviously a good wine place, with cocktails, not so much beer. There are many Italian items on the menu, but also standard American fares, and then the sushi. It was quite a mix. I had to again wave down the bar keep to order a glass of wine, which was a very healthy pour. She still wasn’t too friendly as I ordered the sushi/sushimi dinner, which had way too much sushi I couldn’t even finish. So quantity is a plus. This is when the manager started tending the bar, and she was the most friendly server I’ve had in a while. What a change in attitude! The sushi came. It was a lot like I said, but tasted a bit blend, just okay. I would definitely come back and try something Italian or the burgers sounded good too.

Great atmosphere, great sushi. The edamame appetizer was to die for. Cocktails were equally delicious. Waitress was attentive and gave great food and drink recommendations one of which was the Sophia Roll. Would definitely like to go there again. Great date venue.

Looking for a place to dine with the boyfriend, I came across Ovations. It had been recommended to me before and last weekend I finally got a chance to check it out. We sat by the bar and ordered a few drinks – shout out to the wonderful bartender who made sure our drinks were strong and tasty :) The place is intimate and romantic even. Very tastefully decorated, it’s dim lit which makes it a great setting for a nice conversation over your meal. My experience at Ovations was great, the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because they could work on their sushi. While in theory, the rolls sound amazing, it would have been nice to have been able to grab them. My roll was sloppily made and it was tough to eat because it wasn’t sealed properly. Flavor wise was just ok. I think I’d definitely go back and try other food items on the menu and like I said before, their drinks are definitely worth coming to this place for.

Across from the west canal, right near the ramp for 287 in Boundbrook, NJ you will come across this fantastic bar and restaurant. From the outside it does not seem like much especially since it is nestled in a Bound Brook neighborhood, but upon walking in you will feel the ambiance right away. The parking lot is small and often full but you can park anywhere on the street in the neighborhood. The owners are very friendly and talkative. The hosts(not sure if they also are family owners) greet you right away. They take reservations but I have never had to wait in the many years I have been coming here. Ovations has 2 main rooms and outside seating. The outside seating is very nice especially since it is right across from the canal. One room contains a dining area with darker lighting for a more romantic feel. The waiters are very responsive and helpful. The specials they read area always delicious and always changing. In the middle of the room is a giant cheese block and an array of olives that is always fun to look at. The other room is a louder bar area with tables and booths. If you’re up for more of a beverage kinda night then this is the room for you. ANYTHING you order is prepared with the utmost care. I have never eaten one thing I did not think was out of this world. They offer something for everyone. The sushi is top notch but so are the entrees. Last night my boyfriend got chicken parm and replaced the mashed potatoes an vegetable sides with linguini. He said it was the most succulent chicken he was ever tasted. I ordered the AR sushi roll and was very pleased. We also got a few drinks which included the Selfie, a kamakazi, arnold palmer, and another cucumber drink which name I can not recall. All were strong and delicious. We also ordered the mac and cheese gnocchi. UGH so good. The boy said he would have gotten it as an entrée if it was available. I look forward to even many more meals now that we are moving to Queens Gate apartments in Bound Brook.

My fiancé and I shared the gnocchi mac and cheese. It was good, but a little too salty. We weren’t super hungry, so for our entrees we shared two salads: the fresh mozzarella and the beet salad. Both of them were pretty good.
