BBBBQ needs to tweak their cooking method bigtime. Been there twice to enjoy the ribs but I was crestfallen both times. The ribs were tough as an old boot.

We really enjoyed our lunch stop at Backyard Boys. We wanted some great BBQ for a lower price, and it was a good choice. We each got the pulled pork lunch plate, with 2 sides and corn bread for about $ 8 each. Our sides we chose were fried mac’n’cheese, corn nuggets and fried apples. First time having corn nuggets and they were delicious!!! Great selection of sauces at the table. There was a father with several children dining there, and one of the younger kids had a total meltdown. The waitresses brought out some coloring books and things to help him settle down. I was dining without my kids, but as a mom with 2 small rowdy boys, I liked how the establishment helped out.

I was in Daytona Beach for the weekend to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and we were looking for somewhere cheap, but good and local, to grab dinner. We let Unilocal steer us to Backyard Boys. I should preface the rest of this by saying that I am a vegetarian(yeah, I know). Barbecue was not my first choice, but there were 6 other votes and I can usually find something at any restaurant. The place definitely looked like an old Sonny’s and was very empty for a Saturday night. I popped over to the salad bar to scope it out and was extremely disappointed in the selection(or lack thereof). I asked our server about doing a combo platter, but instead of meat ordering an additional side. While a very friendly lady, she told me my only option was the salad bar(which wasn’t exactly true). I ended up ordering three separate sides: the fried Mac and cheese, corn on the cob, and baked apples. The corn was okay, but nothing I couldn’t have grilled at home, the Mac and cheese was good for the first few bites, but then much too salty, and the baked apples were delicious. The other members of my party ordered the pulled pork and smoked turkey with sides of onion rings and corn nuggets, and French fries. The pulled pork had a very strange look to it(almost like it was breaded and fried) and I was told it was almost inedible. The smoked turkey was standard, the corn nuggets delicious, onion rings burned, and French fries were the same as every other restaurant. All in all I wouldn’t go back. I have had better barbecue for the same price. I really think this place deserves 2.5 stars, but I’ll round up instead of down since our server was so good.

Normally this place is a five star. I’ve always loved coming here but today the service was bad. I mean horrible. It was like I was not even there to the waitstaff at all and the food quality had went down hill too. I wonder if they have new owners? Not sure if I would give them another shot at this point.

The best as far as I’m concerned when it comes to barbeque. Reasonable prices and good size portions. Delish!

Ordered pulled pork sandwich with unsweetened tea and lemon. Got tea, but no lemon. Finally got refill on tea but it was sweetened. Pork was chopped. Definitely not pulled pork such as what you would get in Ga, Tn, NC or Al. It was chewy and dry; more like yesterdays left overs. But on the plus side it was not served«Manwich Style». You know, BBQ sauce already added to meat when served. This is the first BBQ place I have found in this area that lets you select your own sauce. Several sauces were available on the table. The sauces were contained in plastic bottles with a spout for pouring. You know, the type of bottle that you have to put your finger over the pour hole while shaking the sauce. The sauce that I wanted had the entire spout ripped off leaving a good size hole into the bottle. I could not help but wonder what might be in there. But as the old saying goes«In for a penny, in for a pound». So I went for the holy hot sauce. Now I week later, I am still here and doing good.

Followed Unilocal recommendation and stopped at Backyard Boys BBQ. Very good choice. The food was great. Service was wonderful and the value was spectacular! $ 10.99 for all-u-can eat pulled pork/sliced pork/chicken. The BBQ sauces are very good. The only thing that was less than perfect for our likes, was the pork is chopped rather than pulled. Nonetheless, very tender. We will be back again.

If you like Sonny’s you will like this. Old Sonny’s building with little to no changes in the tired interior. Salad bar the same. Baby back ribs $ 13.95 for a full rack. No longer sell ½ rack. Food was average for a Sonny’s. Not worth a diversion.

Consistently good food. My wife who is used to her NC bbq and a tough bbq critic approves also.

The absolute most scrumptious, delectable, mouth watering plump St. Louse ribs and sliced beef you will ever experience. The help there is super pleasant and responsive. Even when they’ve got their all you can eat of ribs and pretty much everything else. For $ 15 bucks!!! I was like oh my god. I’m. In. Heaven.

Another amazingly delicious meal from Backyard Boys. We ordered our meals for carry-out, as we usually do. The food was hot & fresh as if every item we ordered had literally just been cooked prior to packing it up in our boxes. We got the combination meals with baby back ribs and chicken. Best ribs. They are so tender and fall right off the bone. Chicken had a wonderful smoky flavor like it had just been pulled off a grill. Fried mac n cheese was wonderful as always. Garlic toast was crispy and hot! Great job!

We drive all the way from Ormond Beach to eat at Backyard Boys’ BBQ when we are really hungry for large potions of great BBQ. Rating this place 5 stars as it beats Dustin’s and Sony’s hands down. You get so much food for the money and their all you can eat specials ROCK. Love the Baby Back Ribs, St. Louis Ribs, Chicken and the salad bar is really comprehensive for a BBQ joint. The sides are awesome, although they could tone down the sugar in the beans, as that fabulous molasses they use is enough to make them delicious. Wait staff are always friendly and the people posting negative comments on this place, must be «Terminal Complainers» — eaten here for years and always a great experience. And to the Tampa dude — your review is TOTALLYLAME!!!

You know the amazing aroma that greets you upon entering a Barbecue restaurant. It is nowhere to be found at this dump. Considering the parking lot was empty at 1 pm on a Saturday, I should never have entered this poor excuse for a barbecue restaurant. It’s an All You Can Eat joint which would be fine if the food was edible. Ordered ribs, green beans and bbq beans. Within 5 mins it appeared. The«ribs» we’re cold and sad, the green beans were from a bag and had been sitting in water for hours. Hard to mess up green beans but the culinary masters at this dump, found a way. My friend then though he’d try some beef. The waitress quickly brought over a plate with dome circular gray discs. If I had ever eaten my old baseball mitt, I imagine that would have been the taste of this mystery meat. Check please. $ 31.00 and an hour of flossing later, I’m still annoyed. Awful.

I had the pulled pork dinner and salad bar with green beans and baked beans as a side. Baked beans were good, but pretty sweet. Pulled pork was average, so maybe 3-stars, but it’s ALLYOUCANEAT, so that, plus their various sauces all on-hand at the table in squirt bottles, gives them an extra star. ALLYOUCANEATBBQ — THATISCRAZY. I’ve eaten at a number of these southern Daytona Beach establishments this week. None of them are going to blow your socks off if you come from a major metro like San Francisco, but the people are very friendly and the service has been good.

Great BBQ! All you can eat ribs, slice pork & beef, or pulled pork — Delicious! They portions are huge. The all you can eat meals come with unlimited sides — the baked beans, collard greens, fried Mac n cheese, fried okra, & the side salad were excellent. You can’t go wrong. They have 6 different sauces, but the hot sauce is not very hot(they do have extra hot sauce on the table though). It was very reasonably priced. the staff was super friendly and the service was fast. We will definitely be visiting here again.

Come in around 4 and you’ll have the place to yourself. The salad bar was great. Good potato salad, deviled eggs and cole slaw. The beef stew on the salad bar was pretty good too. I ordered the pulled pork dinner plate with fried mac and cheese bites and fried okra. The pulled pork was good and moist. Sides were great. My husband ordered the St. Louis ribs and they were average at best. His baked beans were good. The atmosphere was clean and cheerful. We had a super nice waitress. Everybody was extremely friendly! In addition they have a «all you can eat» option for only 3 dollars more.

I am a little disappointed after reading the reviews. Grabbed lunch mid afternoon place wasn’t to busy so as expected the service was okay not excellent but our server did a decent job. The place was clean and neat so that’s a big plus and as important as that is we come here for the food so here’s my shot at the food. I love BBQ and I feel I am a pretty good judge and maybe a tough critic but honest. St. Louis Ribs — Very tender(not fall off the bone but I’m not a fan of that anyways) Nice smoke meaty not a bad rib could use a little seasoning a little bland for my taste. Sliced Turkey — When I hear sliced turkey I automatically go to the bad place carve your BBQ with a knife get rid of your motorized slicers and scales if you claim to be a professional BBQ guy man-up what are you trying to hide turkey is not tough are you smoking a turkey roll? Ohhhh I see that really sucks serve really turkey or serve no turkey. Sliced Pork — Big mistake all I can think of is Arby’s if that’s what you want your BBQ to be then please ignore this review. Sides — Sorry former reviewers these are not homemade Crinkle Cut Fries — Frozen Fried Okra — Frozen Fried Mac & Cheese — Frozen(every one is shaped the exact same) Baked Beans — Canned process with Ketchup and sauce added yuck Garlic Bread — Yummy same exact bread Dustin BBQ uses Iced Tea — wonderful and nice big cup to go I am still looking for the BBQ Guy in this area we have plenty of retail I see a lot of BBQ places but none in my opinion have the passion required to be great I guess it’s all about the money i wonder if the owners eat this and go «wow this is soooooooo good» no way
