Some people may be familiar with this tattoo and piercing location when it was Augie’s place. Since Augie has now retired, Tony, another artist who worked with Augie, has since opened up Ancient Tattoo in it’s place. His studio is a shared building with Pasta Mia (I think?), you’ll see his sign on the side of the building when you’re on Gilbert, his place is on the second floor.
My boyfriend got his first tattoo from Tony almost 3 years ago and Tony did a great job. He seems quite good at giving tattoos life, good shading and his lettering was well done. My boyfriend recently went back to him to get some work done on his second tattoo which was done by a different artist and which needed some serious… help. This was my first time meeting Tony. He seems very nice, professional, and, as a tattoo artist should be, personable. He’s been doing tattooing for a while, he has good ideas and can help you improve your own.
His studio is nothing special, as usual, pictures and magazines of tattoos everywhere. Individual rooms for the tattooing so you have privacy, and the place is quite clean. Prices are, well, reasonable (as always, I’m basing that off of what B/​F says)? Usually once Tony gives you a price that’s it, he sticks with it unless the idea or work looks like it’ll be much different than anticipated. Call to make an appointment, I think he takes walk-​ins on Fridays, though.
We’ll be going back in the near future to get some more work done on my man, so an update may be in the future!
