good Chicken, but the side orders here are terrible.
And it’s price high for some reason.

Omg! My favorite place for chicken! The parking is super crazy on holiday weekends, so come early. They have additional parking passing the street sign Paseo. This chicken is amazing, has different herbs, both grilled and fried. The empanadas are just as good. It is super busy right now due to Valentine Rush.

Chicken was bomb I drove here from Orange County and it was definitely worth it … rice was different and so was cole slaw but a good different I really enjoyed it: D

Fast service even if it gets busy, chicken is always delicious, juicy and warm, parking can get pack. But this review is for the food.

Took my sister here for lunch, she insisted on it. I’m glad she insisted, because the food is rather good.
She had a 2-​piece grilled chicken plate and I had Empanadas, the trio combo. All pretty tasty. Not bad for an alternative lunch. The chicken was perfectly grilled — tender & juicy.
I’ll definitely come back. Next time I will have yuca fries and plantains.

i really enjoy this place. there chicken is juicy. the skin even taste good and i normally dony like the skin on the chicken. only place i like to come for chicken. i gave up el pollo loco for this place. :) addicting atleast for me.

The chicken is really good, the reason I come here cause my daughter luvs the chicken … But the place is do damn dirty… Tables and chairs feel really sticky. Plus to top it off I order over the phone and Vanessa (the person that answer) was being really rude. (She look like a manager/​supervisor). Great food but bad costumer service with attitude. Just Vanessa.

My new favorite chicken. Wish there was one in long beach but I’d be broke from eating it so much. Really like the fried chicken.

Looks can be deceiving! Came here Friday after work to pick up to avoid using the stove at home ;) No lines so I zipped in and out within 15 minutes or so. I had the fried chicken family meal with two sides. The pinto beans were very soupy and I think they had some sort of chili in it, I gave some to my son unaware of the spice so watch out if you do give it to your little ones! I also had the rice, which was tasty and bland (in the best way!). I really enjoyed the chicken, I am not much of a fried chicken fan cause I always find it so greasy and heavy but this one was light and crispy — really yummy!

I’ve came here several times and never had a problem with my food or the service. The chicken is good (grilled is the best) but just not comparable to the original chains from Central America. This place is Much cleaner than any KFC that I’ve ever visited and probably a better alternative if you want «fresh» food. Keep in mind this is still considered a «fast food» restaurant, you get what you pay for.

When standing in line here I decided to check the Unilocal reviews. When I saw the low rating I almost walked out. However, I decided to go ahead and try it. I am glad I did! Just goes to show that you need to try a place out for yourself before making a decision.
I read complaints about the staff here but they were very friendly. We were heartily welcomed at least twice when we came in and treated very kindly from thereon. Friendlier than most places.
The chicken was great. I had a mix of the fried and baked. It has a homemade seasoned flair that makes it more than your average American fried chicken experience.
Next time I have a craving for chicken I’ll come here!
I relearned a lesson — Don’t always trust the reviews, try it for yourself!

Wait in line for 15 min. Just to place my order (At 3:00 pm not o rush hour) because the system is down, 12 minutes wait if I want to include chicken Breast on my meal, and on top of that fountain drink out of Coke!!!

Omg horrible place with horrible staff! Their food is delicious but their staff is horrible no wonder they are hiring any position! I forgot to ask for side container for my food to go and I told the cashier lady. I told her I needed the containers to go instead of getting the little ones and she said I had to get back in line with attitude. The line was long she just had to give me the containers! So I told her ok I’m going to use the small containers but I’m going to finish them since I I was taking two family pack which total $ 65. She said, «Go ahead finish them». Very rude! Horrible, horrible staff! No respect for customers!

Smh… The worst food ever. The coleslaw got me sayin wtf?! The chicken is salty af. The dinner roll is a piece of county bread. The place is dirty. Staff lookin like they hate their jobs. I don’t even know why the fuck I came. No wonder why I haven’t been but once I. My entire life and the first time It taste like shit too. Smh. Only reason why I’m still sitting here is becAuse I’m writing this Unilocal review and I got an hour to kill before my movie. But never again will I come here or any other of their locations. Very poor quality food. THUMBS DOWN!

I truly wish I could give this place a 5 star because I grew up eating pollo campero. The chicken breast was excellent, juicy, seasoning was great like always, cooked thoroughly, unlike KFC! Got a big piece, ordered the #1. But the fries I could tell were old and had been sitting in the warmer for awhile. Tortillas were good. The place was very clean and inviting. Customer service was great! So from what I see in comparing with the other reviews maybe they just need to work on improving their sides.

Overpriced and chicken is so-​so… customer service sucked because the girl didn’t notice there was a special (not so special in taste and price by the way) and her manager had to point it out. Paid $ 14.29 for 6 pc leg and thigh with 2 small sides. .NO drink

Really good chicken from this Guatemalan-​based chain with locations throughout Latin America and in… Hong Kong!
Beats Pollo Loco hands down… chicken marinated in a citrus-​based marinade balanced with a unique blend of spices that all blend well together, then lightly coated and fried perfectly.
Not at all overtly spicy (although they do have a really substantial green and red salsa available) but exceptionally flavorful, like most Guatemalan food.
The sides aren’t that great, with the exception of the plantains… which are always perfectly cooked and really delicious!
They also keep the place exceptionally clean and the staff and management are always pleasant and helpful.

will not be coming again. Horrible Service. Average Food. Waste of Time and Money.

OK, so for some time I’ve been hearing people rave about Pollo Campero being «the best chicken like ever!” — -for clarification it’s suppose to be the best FRIED chicken ever, according to my husband and friends. My husband also kept insisting that we try it because he and his coworkers often get it for lunch and they just love it.
We went to the South Gate location (for those who don’t know just word of caution it’s a questionable neighborhood and unless your street savvy I say just go somewhere else).
We ordered a full chicken with a side of beans and it totaled about $ 20.00 (boooo!) which is really expensive compared to other chicken places.
So (drum-​roll please) no it wasn’t «the best chicken ever.» I actually prefer KFC extra crispy over Pollo Campero. It had a good taste and it wasn’t dry or orver cooked, BUT the skin was NOT crispy (double boooo!). I wouldn’t go to the extreme of putting it in the BEST EVER category. Plus, I think it’s not worth the price.
I think I’m sticking with KFC or better yet the real «best chicken ever Zankou!“now that’s OMG chicken!!!

The next time I’m craving chicken, I’m coming here!
I saw a couple bad reviews for this place but I didn’t want to take anyone’s word for it and thought I should give it a shot.
I came here and I got the traditional leg and thigh with some french fries on the side with a dinner roll.
I have to say, it filled me right up!
The portion sizes were really good and the food was nice and warm for me when I received it.
The actual restaurant is huge! Plenty of seats for when it gets busy.
