BEWARE OF ALBERT AND TGA. I came here by recommendation that Albert was an artist when it comes to preparing taxes. I usually file through Turbotax, but decided to give a tax preparer a try. I checked out Unilocal page and was surprised to see that TGA only had 3.5 stars. I read all the reviews, and decided to trust the recommendation and let the experience speak for itself.
FIRST, this guy is booked for months, and it is impossible to get a convenient appointment unless you call in months ahead. Given that, my appointment was canceled a total of THREE times, and it took a lot of unnecessary heat and demands to get a reasonable reschedule. This may not happen to everyone, but what are the chances that I get rescheduled THREE times? I’d rather not take the chances and run far away from here.
Why did I wait three times to reschedule before deciding to turn away from TGA? I’ll tell you why. After the first reschedule, I actually had my appointment and sat there with Albert while he prepared my papers. At the end, I had to pay taxes (not the point of this review) so he gave me the option to call back anytime before the filing deadline and just say «OK, I want to file». When I called back well before the deadline to file and pay my taxes, he told me to not file and that he could in fact get me a refund instead of paying taxes. He personally said he could guarantee it, and it wouldn’t matter if the deadline passes since I would be issued a refund. We schedule an appointment, and 2 cancellations later I have not spoken to Albert once, but being pushed back and back through his secretaries. It seems that this guy will not deliver his promise, so I have decided to find a reputable CPA even if its after the deadline and leave behind what seems like a joke.
The reviews and stories I hear of Albert getting people so much back on their returns sounded too good to be true. And I think it may be. Taxes are set, and one cannot simply «get you more money.» These guys probably bend the rules and just push numbers until they fly «below the radar». If you want to take that risk, go for it. But it’s taxes and I don’t want to get audited by chance that my tax preparer tried to get me more money. Also, this guy is a tax preparer. I find it odd that he is the president and the «best» at TGA, but I cannot find any credential that he is a licensed CPA even on his business card. To each their own, but I should’ve known better and went to a certified CPA.

TO TGA: If you are reading this, please do a better job of managing your clients and customer service. When a secretary or receptionist tells you that a client’s issue «isn’t her problem and don’t shoot the messenger,» that reflects VERY POORLY on your service. Truth be told, it was your secretary’s attitude and poor choice of words that tipped me off and lost my potential business and gained my very negative view. I will edit this review according to your response, but somehow I have a feeling that this will remain unedited.

Since moving to La I have done my taxes with Mario since my best friend recommended me to him. Best decision.

I tried to get Albert but allegedly he’s booked for months.
He recommended an individual named David.
I set up an appointment arrived there early waited over 30 minutes to be told David wasn’t there.
When I had set up an appoint to go see David.
I was referred to them took the time to set the allotment drive he wait and be told oh you race person is not here when they knew he had an appointment with me. What a way to impress a potential loyal customer. They need to work on communication and customer service and scheduling.
Overall a bad experience will never go there or recommend anyone to go there.

Felix is amazing! He put a big smile on my face today when he told me that i was not going to pay back and was actually going to get a nice amount in return. I have been getting my taxes done at Tax Guy Albert for a few years and i have to say that the staff has always been courteous and friendly. A friend and a coworker recommended me to come here and i was glad that i did. They take the time to do the long forms for you. Thank you Felix!

Horrible business ethics. I called multiple times to get a copy of my w2 form that I needed for a home loan and they always said they would call me back. I never heard back and kept calling over a period of three months. To this date I still don’t have my copy. Go somewhere else.

I had to push myself to write this review because I’d hate to know others are in a similar predicament to mine.
I gave TGA one star because that’s as low as it can go. I foolishly went against my instinct when I had Albert work on my taxes. His shady offerings were a red flag but I still continued my services (stupid me).
I’m writing this not to put TGA’s business down but to encourage prospective clients to seek tax services elsewhere.
It may seem appealing at first, but when the IRS is taxing you because of inconsistencies in your taxes (years later), Albert and his team will avoid you like the plague.
Any reputable business will never indicate or suggest any fraudulent acts to «help» you.
If there are any reviews that will dissuade you from a business, let it be this one.

Great service! Felix was able to look over my taxes for the past three years and able to fix all the mistakes my previous tax guy had made. Definitely recommend their services. Don’t forget to schedule an appointment!

A business that does not stand by its appointments is not worthy of my business. A two hour wait is uncalled for. My time is valuable especially as a new mom. I had been a client of TGA for over 8 years. Our wait time continued to increase year after year, but I figured well it’s only once a year that I have to wait this long, so, this year I decided to try a different route and drop off my taxes for completion a week prior to my scheduled appointment on February 10^th at 10:30 since I have an active 21 month old. I freed up time during my work schedule to be available for the conference call. The time came and went and no one called. When I called the following day the «office staff» for lack of a better word informed me that my taxes had been worked on but they had not been completed. At this point I was patient and asked courteously when I could expect them to be completed. I was told they would call me back with that information. I never received a call back. Every time I called, I received the same response with no call back. I decided that I would take my business elsewhere so I stopped by to pick up my paperwork.
I was denied my paperwork with invalid promises that were kept. Since I was already there and pretty desperate at the this point to get my taxes done, I asked to schedule with Felix rather than Albert the owner. I trusted that he may provide a better service since my sister and parents are clients of his. When I requested to see him at that time he was booked nevertheless and Albert communicated with me via his office staff that he wanted to complete our return personally. The only way I would accept was if he offered a discount for the inconvenience and he agreed. I gullibly accepted as I was told they would be completed by the end of the week.
The incompetent girl who works the front office gave me her personal number to text her to follow-​up on the status by the end of the week. I guess she doesn’t know her number because she gave me the wrong number. When I called TGA’s office she still had the audacity to confirm her number when I repeated it to her. What nerve. A week passed once again and I followed up on a Monday. I was told that Albert had a few questions for me and he wanted to schedule an in person appointment. I was livid to say the least. The availability of appointments wasn’t until March 13^th at 3:00. Two weeks later. I received a reminder the previous day of my scheduled appointment at 2:00…I was like they can’t schedule appointments either! What kind of business is Albert running now? I think since his sister left the business a lot has changed and not for the better.
When I arrived for our appointment my husband had already begun the process not with Albert but with Felix. I was really disappointed that after all I had been through he would not even make time in his schedule to mend the matter. I guess he really did not value our business and the referrals we had provided him. When Felix completed our return I told him that Albert had agreed to a discount for the inconvenience. Felix tried calling and texting him, but of course he did not reply. Felix offered a $ 10 Starbucks gift card, I honestly began to cry because I was so upset at the fact that I was lied to numerous times and that the owner of this company could care less and not show face. WHAT A COWARD!!!
This is truly unprofessional, untrustworthy, unreliable and far from mediocre. This is an honest and sincere review. I was told by Felix that he was going to have Albert follow-​up with me regarding the issues. For what? at this point I am having a bottle of wine and moving on with my business elsewhere. I’d rather pay a higher price for ETHICAL services.

I have been conducting business with Tax Guy Albert for more than 12 years. I have never had any issues or problems with any of my returns. I have referred many people I know throughout my years coming here, and honestly everybody has thanked me for referring them to TGA. every once in a while I read a posting on here that kind of irritates me on how people complain on the wait time and other minor complaints. Listen honestly I always tell people you might wait longer than expected, but definitely worth the wait. These people are very thorough at what they do. I have been a loyal customer of TGA and will continue to conduct business here for many years to come. Thanks Albert.

I have been going to TGA for two years now and I honestly believe the tax prepares do an awesome job! Honesty and great costumer service is one of the main reasons why I choose to return to do my taxes here. My tax person is Felix and I highly recommend him! Not only is Felix very professional and has an easy going personality, but he also is very honest and humble. Felix helped me on both occasions, understand the terminology about tax returns and additionally offered great tips for the upcoming tax year.

Got audited and they did NOTHING, hard to get in contact. They are the worse, how are these people in business!!!

I am a previous customer of Tax Guy Albert in South Gate, California. In 2012, Fannie Marlene Ordonez commented to me that Taxes for 2010 and 2011 were eligible for Tax Credits. Ms. Ordonez prepared my previously completed 2011 Taxes with for Educational credits based on the Student Loan Tax documents provided to me by my Student Loan lenders. On the Educational Credits IRS form 8863, Marlene calculated a total of $ 1,500.00. I entrusted Ms. Ordonez and Tax Guy Albert that my taxes would be submitted properly being that I had provided all legal documentation. Moving forward to 2013, I received a noticed from the IRS stating that I now owe a total of $ 2,600 adjusted made to my previously submitted 2011 Tax Return. I am extremely upset that after entrusting Ms. Ordonez and Tax Guy Albert 100%.
Extended relatives that originally referred me to Tax Guy Albert have also since received notices from the IRS after completing Taxes with this same company.
After contacting Ms Ordonez by e-​mail, all email correspondence bounced back. Since then, I have received no reply from anyone with the Tax Guy Albery company. When I called to book an appointment with Albert, his office made it impossible to setup a meeting, stating he was tied up for weeks. It wasn’t until I threatened to file a complain against the California Labor Board and Tax Franchise that the receptionist changed her mind about Alberty suddently eing available.
A few weeks back, I received an e-​mail from Fannie Marlene Ordonez stating that she has since opened up her own business. People like Ms. Ordonez & Albert pray on people in the Community of South Gate and with people who entrust and wish to support local small business in their surrounding areas. I’ve learned my lesson with this issue and hope it does not continue to happen to others by Ms. Ordonez and her business as well as by Mr. Ortiz and all Tax preparers with Tax Guy Albert.
