An example of a place doing one thing, but doing it extremely well. The Lightbulb Store is just that, a store that pretty much just sells lightbulbs. The byproduct of this specialization is great expertise and selection. Hard-to-find and obsolete bulbs or adaptors are seemingly routine. Wholesale pricing is icing on the cake!

Today’s lighting technology is such that a good bulb will last you a very very long time. That’s great, and the prices get ever lower, which is also wonderful. The one regret about all this progress: my pilgrimages to the Light Bulb Store to stock up on whatever I need and to learn about the newest most efficient lighting possibilities are restricted to once every couple years. This place is like a museum or learning center, in addition to being a bulb store. They know everything, they answer all questions, it’s a quirky and refreshing experience — not to be duplicated on just any street corner. I really appreciate having it nearby and I enjoy recommending their products and their endless array of stock to others. Come here to save money, save the planet, brighten your life, and learn something.

I was looking for two types of Bulbrite nostalgic bulbs. the first was NOS20T9 which i received and paid $ 12.67 each for a total of 10 bulbs. The second type of bulb was NOS25T6/SQ/E12. A small candelabra base bulb. At first they did not quote me a price but they mentioned that they would call me once they found out the price to confirm if I wanted to place the order. They did call me and quoted me $ 5.82 a bulb. I agreed and placed an order for 25. I Placed the the order on a Monday and i was promised to receive it by Thursday of the same week. Guess what? I had to wait till the Following Wednesday. The biggest issue is that they made a HUGE mistake on the invoice. They charged me $ 12.67 for all 35 bulbs I purchased. On my invoice you can clearly see that the price for the smaller bulbs was originally written down as $ 12.67 but then crossed out to $ 5.82. But sure enough they did the math at 25x$ 12.67. I called several time and the airhead lady that answers the phone didn’t want to hear it because according to her I should have checked the invoice before leaving. you can google NOS25T6/SQ/E12 and you will see that those bulbs are in the $ 6 dollar range… Shame on you people.

This one’s pretty esoteric, but this is a cool store. They have an amazing stock of hard-to-find, rare, delisted, and obsolete light bulbs, sockets, and related electrical paraphernalia. They are conveniently located just a few blocks off of Rte. 80. One star off for pretty high prices on the harder-to-find stuff, but that’s how they stay in business, I guess. Incandescent light bulbs are due to be phased-out, starting in January 2012, to be supplanted with toxic, mercury-filled CFL’s. Another monumental example of wrong-headed government meddling in our everyday lives.
