Jordan River Temple

I’m not a church member, but I have always enjoyed the look of this temple. It truly is a towering pinnacle shining for all the people to see. I once took my then future wife to the grounds to sit by the fountain and an old lady working here yelled at us because we were embracing. Fornicators! Haha. Hey, it was a chilly night ;) We just laughed it off. It’s a great memory we’ll share for time and all eternity.

This is our favorite temple if we are in a time crunch or expect to get in a session without waiting. It is one of the largest ones in Utah, and it has clothing rental. It’s plain but nice too. Parking is usually plentiful. Beautiful views of the mountains to the east from the front. Has a fountain and flower beds. It will be remodeled next year.

Maybe this isn’t my first choice in architecture, but it’s interesting for the eyes.
There are a handful of LDS temples in the Salt Lake Valley, and besides the ever-​stoic Salt Lake Temple, this is the next oldest. Old doesn’t mean decrepit, though. LDS temples are notoriously well-​maintained, and this one is not exception. The grounds are simple – this is a more utilitarian place – but have meticulously kept flowerbeds and grass. As a side note, I once mowed the lawn here. Long story. But that’s when I discovered that they keep bees in the northwest corner of the parking lot. Or at least they did. I digress.
As with all LDS temples, you need to be a member of the faith to actually enter the building. There is no visitors center at this location, so you’ll want to head down to Temple Square if you’re curious about more temple stuff.
