Obeservation Tower

Do not make a visit specifically out to see this, please folks, gas is expensive. If you’re on your way back to Kent or Providence County via rt 1 or 4, then totally go for it!
Its tall enough to give me the heebie jeebies, but that could be the doing of the open backed stairs.
Usually when you climb it you will be faced with other couples or teenagers trying to do creepy things. The view isn’t bad, but its not the best either. Essentially its a nice detour on a ride home to get that one last glimpse of the coast.

So, I read about this tower in an article about Fun Free things to do in Rhode Island and thought I would check it out…
20 minutes after I should’ve got there (via the wrong address in the article), I arrived at a small parking lot with the tower in the corner… My first thought… This is it?
Both the article and one of the women I asked for directions said that it was tall and had a beautiful view of the Rhode Island coast. Is 50 steps (54 to be exact) considered tall? Is a small view of the Jamestown bridge considered beautiful? You can decide for yourself, but my answer to those questions is No.
If you’re driving down route 1 and want to get out for a brief climb, go for it, but don’t drive out of your way (even 10 minutes) to do this.
In order to get my fill of a tall tower, I proceeded to climb it 10 times. Work those thighs!
